Hi,I’ve been running some tests with customer lately and we came across some very troubling situation during out of place restore of Oracle database. Specifically restore out of place is trying to delete source database redo logs. If the source database is running it fails, but if source database is closed it succeeds damaging source database You can find alert.log snippet below:Source DB shutdownDeleted Oracle managed file +DATA/BMSTST1/ONLINELOG/group_3.1951.1090834209Completed: alter database rename file '+DATA/BMSTST1/ONLINELOG/group_3.1951.1090834209' to '+DATA/BMSTST2/ONLINELOGS/redo_1.log'alter database rename file '+DATA/BMSTST1/ONLINELOG/group_2.1950.1090834207' to '+DATA/BMSTST2/ONLINELOGS/redo_2.log'Deleted Oracle managed file +DATA/BMSTST1/ONLINELOG/group_2.1950.1090834207Completed: alter database rename file '+DATA/BMSTST1/ONLINELOG/group_2.1950.1090834207' to '+DATA/BMSTST2/ONLINELOGS/redo_2.log'alter database rename file '+DATA/BMSTST1/ONLINELOG/group_1.1949.1090834207'
Hello! Is it securely possible to have a CV environment for servers, which is not in Active Directory and using one set of Media Agents, to share those Media Agents with another Commserve which IS in AD in order to facilitate backing up of workstations? How hard would this be?Things I’m wondering about: We could just create a new Library on the Media Agent dedicated to workstations. There are actually two MAs, one at each of our locations, but let’s keep this simpler for now. How susceptible do we think the server Libraries are to hacking attempts via CV? The only communication between Commserves, workstations and media agents is TCP 8000-8006? Commserves for server backups are segrated from “everybody else” short of a few physical servers and ESX/VMs. If we are hacked on the workstation side (let’s assume someone gets into an admin account and runs ramped), can they harm the server backups in another library on the same media agent? Thanks for any input and please let me know if I’
Hello Team,We have restored File system backup job, it’s got restored but is showing No. of Skipped files as per the restore job. We checked skip files, but the files are restored in target location. We want to know the reason for skipped files. As per the restore log, it’s showing “The failed byte count does not include files that failed due to seek error”. Please advise.
Hello Team,We are trying to restore single level table restore in Oracle DB, while restore is getting an error. RMAN-03002: failure of duplicate DB commandRMAN-05501: aborting duplication of target database.RMAN-04004: error from recovery catalog database: ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress. RMAN-05546: DUPLICATE without TARGET and CATALOG connections requires that BACKUP LOCATION is specified. The restoration is using the same DB server. Please advise the restoration process.
Hello Dears, we are protecting an exchange dag in another domain/ network backup is working fine, but when we are trying to restore an individual messages to the mailbox we are unable to browse the mailboxes - we have outlook 64 bit installed on the mediaagent as well as exchange package.
We may be merging our O365 tenant into another tenant. We currently backup Exchange Online, One Drive, SharePoint Online, and Teams. We also content index items. If a merger occurs, can the existing Commvault (V11.24) O365 Apps be used for protection? Will items need to be indexed again?
I feel like I’m missing the Capt. Obvious clue in how the Rules are intended to be used in Command Center when setting up a VM group. In the old java UI, I would have content which is easy to define, and then my filters. Where does the ability to filter (exclude) come in with the Rule function? It seems to be not completely baked yet. Here’s the scenario: We have 100’s of VMs with a custom attribute defined with a value of “false” telling the old schedule/SP method of backups to filter those VMs out. I am trying ot convert to plans and doing this all via Command Center but regardless of what I build my rules as, this seems to more of an include (content) based rule system rather than a filter based exclude list. Sure, I get that I can toggle some things like power state on/off, or template true/false, but filtering seems to be much more obscure here than in Java land. Is this by design or what am I missing?thanks

Hi all, A customer has recently brought this to our attention that within their environment there is an outdated version of the jQuery being utilised via their WebConsole. They are currently running 11.20.85 and the version of jQuery they are still using is 2.1.3 which has known vulnerabilities. I am aware of there being another topic open for a similar, if not same, issue.https://community.commvault.com/topic/show?tid=988&fid=2However, this does not look to have a promising resolve, is there a resolve to mitigate these vulnerabilities or force the webconsole to utilise a more updated version of the jQuery? Kind regards, Jonathan
Hi !I’m used to old-style storage/schedule policies and clients/subclients associations..But we’re told that PLANS are the future, and we’ll have to move to Plans for sure.So I’ve deployed a few new MAs to protect some locations inside my company, where I have to protect VSA + file level backups.I have local disk backup, then auxcopy to tape and auxcopy to cloud from primary.MA is physical linux, as we have windows VSA clients, I have also deployed Windows VSA Proxy. Then I created Storage pools for local disk, tape copies and Cloud copies. To simplify things and test Plans, I created a Plan per location, with standard details, like 1 day RPO, 1 month of retention, with my backup timeslots, full timeslots (confusing with synthfull out of control, but we’ll discuss that later in this thread I guess).I created a VSA VM group that points to my VMWare location ( = selects all the VMs in that location, including my VSA proxy VM).For some VMs, I was asked to also provide file-level backup of
Hello guys, I have a question. Is any way to get a list of failed items of O365 backup (Sharepoint, Teams, OneDrive)? I can see the number of failed objects but I cannnot see any details. I have searched the BOL but I couldn’t find any information about it. Rgds,Kamil
Hi,we want to backup some vmware vms sitting at a hosters site. For security reasons, the vcenter is in a different network segment and only available via an exclusive vpn connection. So i wanted to setup a Pre-Scan script to up and a Post-Backup script to down the VPN.But for whatever reason, the vmware VSA agent isn’t supporting a Pre-Scan script.Am I the only one, looking for this feature/function?Is there a workaround?I would really like to not have to use another program to schedule the VPN. Best RegardsJoerg

I'm trying to assemble a list, for customer billing based on companies, of unique client object who are protected by all forms of protection methods. So think of application-level, file-system-level and VM-level and all within the scope of a company. So I though this would be an easy walk in the park by enumerating views:Lic_CUR_ProtectedVMs_vw - to retrieve a list of VMs who are protected on VM-level Lic_CUR_VOIs_vw - to retrieve a list of VM's who are protected using an agent.I would then make sure to filter out the duplicatie objects (I will have to do some filtering machine as I'm already noticing duplicate client computer with an _ in their names) and to remove the clients from the output of Lic_CUR_VOIs_vw who exist in the output of Lic_CUR_ProtectedVMs_vw because I want to make sure we capture all VMs running on an on-premise cloud platform which doesn't support VM-level protection. Now I'm running into an issue in where the output of Lic_CUR_VOIs_vw is not showing clients who I
