Hello team, Customer runs a commcell like following. Client  - cvltclnt  Subclient   - cvltclnt_file_backup  Storage Policy (Disk)   - SamsungDedupe  (retention 10days, Full)   - SamsungDedupe_Inc  (retention 5days, Incremental) Customer is using this option “Incremental Storage Policy” for incremental backup on Storage Policy. And they want to get this configuration info using SQL query.What table/view should customer do a query to get this information? Client Subclient Storage Policy retention days Schedule Backup Level cvltclnt cvltclnt_file_backup SamsungDedupe 10 FS_FULL Full cvltclnt cvltclnt_file_backup SamsungDedupe 5 FS_INC Incremental  I’ve tried to find the identifier for “Incremental Storage Policy” option in the table/view on MSSQL but I couldn’t. If I have to join several tables/views to get the value then kindly let me know how to make a query. customer wants to get the values for subclient, storage policy, retention and backup level base

Which is the better solution considering the Cost, Space, Dedup Parameters, Throughputs for a Primary Copy only?Primary Copy : With Daly incremental, Weekly Full, On Azure immutable with Dedup that is a mix of DDB Sealing, Data retains longer than my basic retention of 30 Days. (Aux - Full Backups later go to Azure immutable container) Primary Copy : With Daly incremental, Weekly Full On DD - with NO DEDUP, with basic retention of 30 Days. Later have the Full Backups Aux to Azure immutable Cloud.FYI : My Aux copy of Full backups will stay Azure immutable, there is no change in this concept.Just want to make sure having a DD for the primary copy daily backups would be beneficial considering the above parameters.Can you please help me decide 

Hello again,my old pseudo was Bloopa, I have no access to my old account because it was disabled. I've changed customer and I had to create a new account. I use a selective copy to copy to tape all last fulls of the previous months.The current retention is 1 years. for the last copy of the year, I want to keep the data for 15 years. How to achieve that in a simple way.I see an option on the tape “un age Jobs” that allow to change the retention settings, but I am not sure if it is good. Thanks ! 

Hi Community,We are planning to convert our production environment’s DDBv4 to DDBv5, but in our test environment, all our media agents are in DDBv5. As the DDBv5 comes from the version 11.14, i am searching for a media kit package older than SP14 in order to test and validate.Is there Anywhere i can download a mediakit older than SP14 which is not available in commvault store ? Thanks in advance.

Hello Community, #1 Does Commvault provide support for subclient-level software encryption in Intellisnap for VSA VMware (MA/proxy RHEL 8.8)?#2 if it does, is the encryption performed on the MediaAgent, similar to streaming VSA backups.#3 Does the impact on production VM resources is minimized when employing Intellisnap for VMware with subclient encryption enabled?#4 Also, does enabling Commvault's software encryption result in approximately a 5-10% increase in CPU usage during snap backup? thanks

When we backup FSbasebackup bakcup stream opened 1 stream. That reason our backup is going very slow. Is that possible the configure multiple stream ?  

Hello,How do I get passed the 10000 object limit when doing a browse or job summary report?On the report it’s onlu allowing max 10000 lines, and in browse I can only see the firs 10000 objects, the other 3252 I have no idea on how I can see or select. Anyone have an idea? Surely I shoulden’t have to contact support about it.//Henke

But from the Cloud Storage Best Practices it is strongly not recommended:DDB Backup on CloudMake sure that the cloud storage library does not have an Archive Object Storage class selected. DDB backups are not recommended on Archive Object Storage, like S3 Glacier/Deep Archive, Azure Archive and Oracle Archive.What are the reasons behind this strong recommendation?Tks in advance guys.Eddiie

We currently have an 3 tier architecture with Vmware 7.0 and vcenter 7.0 with the commvault deployed in the VM.The Backups are running smoothly without environment. We are in the process of purchasing Vxrail and would be moving all our VMs from the old 3 tier architecture to new VxRail Appliance.We want to ensure all our existing Commvault backups and jobs and schedules configured with the old vCenter are successfully migrated to the new vCenter running on VxRail.How do we proceed with this

Hey all - I am working with a customer on SQL log backups.  The log RPO on the plan is 15 minutes and we verified in the Java GUI that the auto schedule is also 15 minutes.  the problem is the logs are backing up every 30 minutes and we can’t figure why.   What could I be missing? Thanks!

Hi Vaulters, This is a topic in which I already created multiple threads and read a lot of them here, but still confuses me, it’s still a bit confusing, on how the process may be implemented in the right way. Basically, we wonder how WORM can be implemented on a Disk storage type library which has WORM capabilities.There are tons of topics regarding cloud storage, but wonder how the process works with On-prem Disk libraries. We are seeing that, enabling the WORM from storage side may increase the BET to 2x to 3x.Would there be a DDB sealing in case of a disk library …etc. ? We would love to get a simplified overview on how the implementation could look like and how the pruning would work in this case. All your advices are welcomed. Regards. 

Hi Vaulters, We have a new CV platform that will be deployed soon, the Infra that will be backed up is all virtual based on VMware 6.7. Regarding design, we are checking which transport mode is the most suitable in our case, and as of now, since the VMs are hosted on datastores residing on a Storage Disk Array, it looks like SAN mode is the most efficient way to back up our VMs. Can anyone give us the right steps to implement this ? A step-by-step procedure, since we couldn’t retrieve this on the documentation. We are also looking for HotAdd transport mode, which also seems feasible in our case.Overall, what are the pros and cons of each tranport mode (SAN and HotAdd) ? For example, we read that restore performance is poor on SAN mode when VM disks are thin. Kind regards. 

Hello everyone, Recently I configured the SSO in Commvault, with Windows Active Directory Domain. Users can login in the Commcell perfectly, but when I open the Command Center URL in the CommServe Server, I am unable to login with the SSO, it’s always asking me to put my credentials. This doesn’t happen when I select Command Center option in the Commcell Console.I don’t know what configuration is missing, or what should I do fix this. Has anyone experienced something like this?We are using 11.28 (2022E) with MR87. Thanks.

Hi, We have setup a Commvault Media Agent to backup VMs using HotAdd transport mode.The setup works but its average throughput is less than ideal.The below is the setup of the Media AgentDirectly FC connected to a LTO-8 tape library with 4 FC drives 16 CPU cores 32 GB memory With the same above SPEC in our Netbackup environment, it can achieve an average throughput of 300MB/Sec, or 1TB/Hour. However, this Commvault Media Agent could only achieve around 500 GB/Hour, which is only half of what its potential should be. That being said, in Netbackup, we did increase its Number_Data_Buffers and Size_Data_Buffers to maximise its performance, so I’m wondering if there are similar parameters in Commvault that I can tweak to make it run faster ? Thanks,Kelvin

As per KB 67279 https://ma.commvault.com/Article/Details/67279, when instance validation fails for SQL iDA, the job gets queued until you fix the account. How do we change this behavior and turn this feature off? We need the job to fail in this case, as we are an MSP and have automation built off of the failures of these jobs.  If the job stays queued forever, it will never generate a ticket for us and won’t get fixed.  In fact, I found two jobs which were queued since June/July because of instance validation failing.I do not want any jobs to queue, unless I turn on queueing options in Control Panel.

Good morning people, everything fine?Eventually this Completed w/ one or more errors message appears and when I look at the logs, it only appears in the description: Unable to make a backup copy of folders [0] and files [81].What can this be? Was the copy successful? or is this normal?

Team, I’m trying to maximize resources for O365 data protection. Can the Index Server role be added to an Azure vm that is performing the Access Node role ? CI is being used and I am aware I may need to scale up the vm resources. The data is being protected by an on-prem library and aux copied to an S3 library. Thank you!

Hello All. Thank you in advance for your assistance. For a selective tape copy I need a means to ‘guarantee/force’ only Fulls from a given month are written to a single tape. Is there a way to do this ?  I would be interested in knowing how to ‘guarantee/force’ only jobs from a given month onto a set of tapes as well.

  CV is configured with a cluster ndmp client and the nodes for the cluster are added in the ndmp client configuration. There are 6 physical nodes in the cluster. Source netapp is an a700 and the destination netapp is a FAS8700.Issue:   For a backup copy job hundreds of jobs running but only a max of 36 transfer data. Hundreds of jobs trying to make a connection to the filer, but they can’t.  These jobs are each grabbing a stream but only 36 at a time are moving data. Increasing streams helps but then more backup copy jobs that can run launch and consume streams.There is a snap primary, storagegrid backup copy, vault replica copy,  and streaming data protection jobs that are very behind because of the supposed concurrent session limit (36 ?) from the source a700: streams keep being eaten up by backup copy jobs, but only 36 move data concurrently, thereby causing jobs for other copies to not run including the snap primary source copy for the storagegrid backup copy jobs. Misc.From the c

Hi,we use Commvault Simpana 11.20.36 and we have two Virtual Agents to backup our vSphere VMs.On the first enviroment the transport mode for VMWARE is set to auto.In the reports i can see that the transport mode for backup handles out SAN, the other enviroment only NBD.https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=32037.htmWhat can be the reason that the one environment does not save in san mode?Could it be a reason that in san zoning the esxi hosts of each cluster cannot see the media agent?RegardsDennis
