We have six Azure site, each site has 3 or 5 subscription, plan to do agentless backup for Azure VM in each site and each subscription, what is the best practice to deploy commvault server and VSA?

Hello all, Some doubt makes me ask some questions to community before acting please. I’ve never set such mssql backup. As i’m not a mssql expert, i’ll try to explain and understand as well as possible, so please be kind! I’ve a mssql failover cluster composed with 2 nodes.Only one node is active at the same time, and has the network share hosting the database mapped, not double mapped on passive during this.There is no special availability group (that’s mostly my point) I’ve experience in backuping an exchange dag, so i would suppose same backup configuration philosophy:Install mssql agent on both nodes, no config Create a virtual client “mssql ag client”But this is my doubt, when i select this, i’m asked for sql clients (ok, nodes), sql instances (ok, instances), but asked for availability group.I don’t have done now, i try to understand this before, so maybe i can just let availability group list empty? Is someone able to tell me if i’m in the right way? We want to be able to restore all the data that we have archived for a customer back to the same server.  They have archiving setup in both FS and a NAS location.  They want to decommission archiving  I  can trigger a restore from the most recent synthetic fulll archive and restore all the data back to production servers; however just wanted to make sure it would completely replace all the stubs that were ever created on the source server.  I was reading through the documentation as as I understand the retention of the stubbed data only works on copies at the moment the storage policy sends data to local ma and one aux copy to another location and third one to tape; so hopefully the SP retention policy wont apply to the local MediaAgent.“ Retention is only considered for copies that contain the job. From <https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/111875_creating_new_archiving_subclient_for_windows_file_system.html“    

Hi,My client changed the port number of his SQL instance to a specific number. His reason was to hide the instance for security purposes. However, it caused Commvault failed to backup that SQL database. with the error “Failed to validate the credentials for instance...”The client told me that everything that needs to point to that instance has to has the instance name like this SQLDB01,port-number\DB01 I wonder, what could I do in Commvault to back up this SQL database?Thank you. 

Details below, but in a nutshell, I’ve successfully set up two VSA proxies for the hotadd transport thus far, one at each of two sites.  One site, at least, needs more. I “swear” that I’ve set this proxy up the same as the others, but for the life of me, it’s not appearing on the access node list: Both the existing proxy and new one have the following software: They’re on the same subnet (sequential IPs, for that matter) and both have established communication with the Commcenter on port 8403.  The working VSA also has a session with port 8400, altho it’s working so that may be the reason why…I can successfully cvping on ports 8400 & 8403 to the commcenter and our mediaagent from the new proxy (call it vmProxy2). VMWare tools are the same.Mono 6.8 is installed.Oracle 8.8.What.. on Earth, could I be missing at this point?  Any ideas? Thank you for any help!

Hello, Yesterday I upgraded the Commserve serve from FR28 to FR32. Unfortunately replication process for Commserve DB between the server is not working properly after upgrade. The issue which appeared is: Query Result [Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Common.ExecutionFailureException:The database was backed up on a server running version 15.00.4280. That version is incompatible with this server, which is running version 13.00.5216. Either restore the database on a server that supports the backup, or use a backup that is compatible with this server. RESTORE LOG is terminated. Please let me know me probability  solution. Regards, Michal

Hello!Consider the following scenario:Oracle CDB DB named CDB01.Oracle PDB DB named PDB01Oracle PDB DB named PDB02Oracle PDB DB named PDB03 Customer wants to backup PDB01 only once and keep it for 5 years. So, subclient is created pointing to PDB01 only. Full Backup is made, including logs. Consider January 1st as the backup date. PDB02 and 03 need to be backed up daily. Then, a subclient is created, including PDBs 02, 03, CDB&ROOT and PDB&SEED (excluding PDB01). That sublcient is backed up with daily fulls. With 1 day retentions. I noticed that the backups for CDB01 (excluding PDB01) which are daily made, with 1 day retention are not getting pruned. Day retention and forecast report states that the CDB01 jobs are required (LOG_ RULE) by the PDB01 job (which previously ran only once and will be kept for 5 years). How to work around this situation?PDB01 needs to be backed up only once in its life and be retained for 5 years.PDBs 02 and 03, are backed up daily. Hello. Will greatly appreciate your feedback/guidance here.  I need to enable intellisnap for subclients with the data on a netapp source. It’s vmware, and supposedly volumes that are “just volumes”: not nfs, not cifs or anything specfic to a particular application. The customer “doesn’t want NDMP in the environment”. I see in the NAS client there is, ndmp, nfs and cifs as options.  How can I configure the nas client to snap ‘generic’ or just ‘ad hoc’ volumes for lack of a better way to describe them without using the ndmp or nfs or cifs agents under the CV NAS client ? I am not seeing a way to do this. The storage policy is set up with a snap primary copy for the source and a vault/replica copy to a destination netapp. The customer doesn’t want ndmp used and doesn’t want streaming method used. Is this even possible ?Thank you! 

Hi community. I would like to create a dynamic WizardBlock that iterates over a list and displays PopupInputs for all the entries in the list. I tried it already like in the picture below. Unfortunately this just puts every PopupInput after the other but without the “back” and “next” buttons. It is completely ignoring the WizardBlock. The same apllies to a modified version where I put the WizardBlock inside the ForEach loop.  Any ideas if and how I could achieve my goal? I would even go with a solution created dynamically by java code if there is no other option. But I also cannot figure out how I would do that. Best regardsPasqual

The drives holding our DDB are currently fluctuating between 85 and 95% full. We’re in the process of procuring larger drives to replace the ones currently in our mediaagent, but in the meantime…what happens if the drive holding our DDB hits 100% capacity?

After adding the array into array management and triggering a intellisnap backup.  Commvault is failing to create snapshot due to not finding the specified vserver.Error Code: [32:392] Description: Snap creation failed. : [Unable to create snapshot for FileServer:[192.168.1.65] Volume:[/vol/vmware_nfs] SnapName:[SP_2_1075_4_1693309853]. Hello community Oracle RAC :  (v19) CV: V11.28RAC has been set up with a configuration involving 2 nodes. The installation and configuration of the RAC setup in Commvault were completed yesterday. issue:  Can’t raise the "Log Threshold streams" value beyond 1. Within the Commvault log's "Backup" tab, 'number of archive Log backup stream: 3'  set for each of the nodes.I'm attempting to modify the "Log Threshold streams" value, aiming to raise it from 1 to 3. but, whenever I navigate away from the field or confirm the change by clicking "OK," the change is not retained. Instead, the value reverts back to the original setting of 1.I've reviewed the settings of other existing Oracle RAC configurations involving two nodes. In those cases, there are two archive backup streams allocated for each node, and the "Log Threshold streams" value is adjustable up to 4. thanks

Hi guys,I’m trying to deploy FSO following the official online documentation of Commvault but no luck.From guided setup during the wizard, I’m able to configure successfully the index server, but when I try to set up the inventory I’m getting following error:{"errorMessage":"Failed to create inventory [qwerty]","errorCode":1013} I also tried to configure the inventory from Activate/Settings/Inventory manager and then Add inventory button, but it fail to create the inventory: ! Failed to configure inventory My Commvault environment is on 2023 platform release Version 11.30.36.Any idea on what could be leading to this problem? JSousa

Hi folks,Although all vendors now have servers using 4th generation Intel processors, our reference architectures (for 24 disk solutions) still request 2nd generation processors.This is causing a problem, vendors cannot provide the product for these old servers and processors we configure (such as HPE Apollo 4200 with Intel 4216 CPU and/or Dell 740XD2 with Intel 4216 CPU).Will these reference architectures be renewed in the upcoming period? Is there such a study? Are there any roadmaps on this?Even if there is a study carried out on this subject, it will be very useful information for us.Kindest Regards.

Hello,Does anybody knows how to get rid of the following warnings we got during CIFS/NFS servers backup:" Unable to start SnapDiff V3 session. Please check if RPC is enabled and if there is a data network interface configured for NFS on vserver [xxxxxxxxx]. " -→ Some SVMs have NFS enabled on LIFs, then I enabled RPC on those SVMs and after that warnings disappeared.-→ On the contrary, some SVMs have only LIFs with CIFS enabled, then these messages are still there days after days, even if RPC is enabled.I will not be obliged to add NFS as a data protocol to solve this “issue “ ? It does not makes sense...We are running ONTAP 9.9.1P11 and Commvault 11.28.32 (2022E).Thank you in advance.

Hi Guys, I am experiencing the same issue as :  whereby i am unable to change my storage policy retention settings from a remote comcell console. However my commserve is linux, so i have been trying to access the comcell console directly on the linux machine as provided in the solution above. However when i run the command console, nothing happens. I am not sure if there are any specific settings i need to configure to allow console access from linux. Does anyone know?

Hi Team,I have Storage policy and the primary library is IBM tape library. Due to space constraints few servers are assigned directly to the tapes. So, the concern is by default created the big data apps index server for the storage policy is going to the same storage policy. Is it right way to keep the index server's backup on tape.If incase, I have to require browsing 30 days old data, do required tapes and is there any copy saved on media server for index cache?PFB snapshot for reference.
