Hello Community, We’re going to migrate file servers to different hardware with new hostname, while keeping the same drive letter, data/content.Subsequently, once these new servers install/config into the Commvault, they will be linked to the identical storage policy that the old servers were associated with. This storage policy with ddb enabledFrom my understand, Commvault's deduplication process use a SHA-512 algorithm, which generates a unique identifier for each data block. This identifier is then matched against identifiers of previously encountered data blocks. Questions:I'm wondering whether, during the initial full backup of the new file servers, the data will undergo a process of re-baselining, or if only distinct data blocks will be selected for backup. This consideration arises from the fact that the same content and deduplication (ddb) signatures were previously backed up or generated from the old servers. Hi,we have a subdomain with 3 Windows DC’s.If i shut down DC 1 my XenServer Cluster backup doesn’t backup.Error:Error Code: [14:212]Description: Failed to connect to indexing process from client [BACKUPWEL02] to MediaAgent [BACKUPWEL01.wels.ssishop.net*BACKUPWEL01*8400]. Error [Unable to connect to remote machine [BACKUPWEL01.wels.ssishop.net]. Please check Network Connectivity.].Source: BACKUPWEL02, Process: vsbkpIf i start my DC the backup runs fine.What can causes this problem? We want to deconfigure the DC next time.But there are another 2 DC’s in the subdomain. Backup should normaly runs fine or?RegardsDennis 

Hello Community, after migrate to V2 VSA for VMware with v2 migration workflow, I observed that certain VM clients are linked with the VSA agent, while other clients do not exhibit this association. though all of clients are part of the VSA backup . In the "Client Properties" section, specifically within the "Virtual Machine Properties" tab, the "Virtualization Client Name" directs to the V2 VSA pseudo client  below screenshot has vm and agent level backup but  VSA agent is not linked to it, the "Virtualization Client Name" refers to the V1 VSA pseudo client. It seems that the V2 VSA agent is exclusively visible in new deployments, correct?  

Constantly getting the error below on two HP UX boxes. CvFwd.Log582 0001 08/09 07:54:34 ######## ######## ERROR: cvfwd_get_refresh_socket(): Failed to bind refresh socket: Can't assign requested address  Job Error:Error Code: [19:1304]Description: Failed to connect to Communications Service to register the process. They were originally both older Clients 11 SP 6. Went to upgrade to SP30 and now jobs stopped running. Check readiness runs fine but get error above and Filesystem and Oracle jobs will not run. I have a One Way from Client to Commserve setup.

​I was testing a database restore (DB is in full recovery) and noticed that the PITR graph wasn’t showing continuity.I checked the server and we still had an old logshipping job which was grabbing the logs and backing up to disk before commvault could get them..  We currently use database mirroring which doesn’t have any jobs associated with it. I disabled the job and ran a full database backup from Commvault,  expecting that our default 15 minute log backups would start afterwards, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.  I’ve taken a manual log backup in Commvault, but it’s still not getting picked up by the regular schedule. Any thoughts on how to resolve this?  The default client run completed at 3:01 pm and backed up every log *except* this database, which I had to do manually. Thanks- Chris​

Quick question: customer has an audit and is required to document the steps taken to secure the commcell. One thing is the media password. It can be set, it can be changed and you need of course to write it down… BUT: is there some way to report IF a media password is set or not (for the auditor). Would fit perfectly in the Security assessment tile in the CC.The only way I see is actually changing the password - if “enter old password” is left blank and new password is applied, you didn’t have one. Which is not a reportable solution.Thanks.

Hi,we use Virtual Server Agent and we backup with the default sublient our VMWARE VMs.Is it possible afterwards to carry out a second copy only for an explicit VM?Or is that only possible if I create a backup before and using a separate subclient ??RegardsDennis

Hi Team,We have 3 CommCells registered/uploading to cloud.commvault.com but would like to see only one (our prod) in Cloud Command as the other two are are used for test/dev and not relevant to us from reporting perspective (no one is worried about backup failures in dev but it affects the reported environment score). Any ideas?Thanks

HiWe have endpoint backup around 300 clients, backup is working over the LAN if user in office and  notebook connected to office LAN, but when user is outside of office and notebook connected on internet backup is not working. We want to configured endpoint user backup over internet as well, are are requirements and configuration  Thanks  

I have a Windows server configured as a VM running on VMware, this server has a LUN attached with iSCSI with a file system that is NOT a virtual disk. Am I correct in saying to back this up I need to use a Full Agent such as a Hardware agent? Currently as configured the only backups I am seeing are the Virtual disks associated with this server such as the startup disk.

I am going going through a security audit and I have been asked to participate in documenting a threat model for the Commvault deployment. I need some help documenting the  order of events when a backup is initiated  and which entity is initiator and responder in the process.  I am having trouble finding this in the documentation. we have done a hardware refresh , and planned to keep the old MA and Library unitl the retention period ,we have our tape library connected to Old Media agent and aux copies are configured on it,  i would like to know the best approach to move the tape library to new MA all the current job to tape library are finished, can anyone help me with stepsputt media agent to mainantance modereconnect tape library to new MAscan the library using new MAthat is enough ? 

Good day Community,I have a customer with an All-in-one server CommServe/MediaAgent. We want to split the MediaAgent in a second instance (Instance002). But the MediaAgent is also used to index Exchange Online backups. It therefore has the IndexStore component installed and has existing indexes.Is there a procedure to migrate the MediaAgent AND IndexStore component? Probably a hardware refresh procedure for the IndexStore.Thanks in advance for you help.

we are having issue with our backups with the cluster config while running the backup on the client gettig below errorthe jobs kept on going to pending state when we tried to run one of the node we got below error , we have checked the telnet connection from cleint to MA 8403 and its working  

Hi everyone.We are facing a Commvault Backup implementation of a VMware Environment over Nutanix Cluster. Our initial idea is to perform NAS Transport Mode or HotAdd mode so as to avoid NBD and get more backup performance.On Commvault side we see that it’s fully soported (we treat this kind of Backup as it was a regular VMware deployment at Commvault level).The thing is that we have found on a Nutanix Document (attached) that it’s a Best Practice to implement NBD backups once protecting VMware VMs with Streaming mode, as you can see in the capture below:  We suppose “that performance issues” refer to too much I/O on Distrubuted DataStore of NTX environment. We have checkd on other environments that HotADD mode works and “apparently” no impact has been seen. Does anyone has faced a similar scenario? and in that case, was NBD implemented? Regards and thanks for your help!

Hi All, I have a large number of AWS S3 Buckets to protect however I have noticed that I am not able to create or use Auto scaling access nodes. Even HA for the access nodes is not an option as you can only select a single node in the config. you cannot select a group. How would I get HA for these access nodes apart from actually creating a OS Cluster to ensure HA? i can see as per Auto-Scaling for Amazon EC2 Access Nodes (commvault.com) that Auto-scaling is not currently supported for Amazon RDS, Redshift, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, EFS, FSx, or S3 backup. how do we ensure HA at a minimum?

Hi,We have PostgreSQL server (Linux on VM) with DB ~7TB in size. We would like to have only full (or better  full+ inc combination) backup done once per day to be able to restore whole DB only to time of backup.That environment is probably to huge for streaming backup (dump or FS), so we would like to use block-level-backup.BLB requires WAL logging enabled and during snap backup additional log backup job is running automatically.It looks like snap backup is consistent because it quiesce DB and put into backup mode, make snap and run DB further. So it looks like in that case logs are not required during restore.We don’t want run log backup because that DB generates ~0,5TB  logs every hour and, if WAL enabled we need to run additional log backups hourly to delete logs from WAL directory (it takes about 40 minutes every hour). Additionally it requires a lot of space on LOG disklibrary,Is there any way to run PostgreSQL BLB FSBased backups without log backup? regards,Przemek
