Hello Community,Seems like restoring a site collection through the offline mining option doesn't support if you check the SharePoint server requirements for Commvault offline mining; the 'Microsoft SharePoint Server Subscription Edition' isn't listed. https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/essential/offline_mining_for_sharepoint_server.htmlif not support, what’s the method for restoring a site collection for the on-prem  'Microsoft SharePoint Server Subscription Edition' version? thanks

Hello, we set up a new site using VMware and Netapp. We set up 3 jobs under the storage policy. Snapshot, for one week > Copy to vault x months > each month copy to tape. The snapshots and copy to vault appear to be working fine. I see all successful backup jobs on both parts of the policy. However, the tape copy for monthly to tape is just stuck at “To be Copied”. Its been stuck like this since the end of last month which was a couple days ago. There are no warnings or errors. Any idea what may be causing this?

Sometimes it’s VSBK.exe or a random Windows exe.I used to have a ton of these.Present day it’s much less. Last year the Application Event log was littered with these and the Media Agent Server became unusable.  Support was at a loss. It might be easy to say there was a hardware issue. This server was in service from 2019 - 2024 and operated 24x7 without issue.Since that terrible week last year the MA was migrated to a different server to get backups going again. These app crashes in the Application Event log still occur on the new server, but they are few and isn’t effecting backups anymore.  I have clients that I was previously backing up as a FSA, I released the FSA license and starting backing them up as VM’s. The software version on client backing up as VM with FSA agent released shows missing latest feature releaseI would like to continue backing them up as VM’s, I just don't want them to show up on the Software Version report as missing the latest feature release.What are my options ?  

Hello, I am seeing an error where two VMs out of 20 are failing to backup with error code: "Failed to read disk over NBD transport mode. Ensure the access node can communicate with the host ESX server."There are two esx servers, windows / vcenter / netapp environment using streaming backups. There are other servers on the same esx server that are backing up fine, its just two that are failing and they were working at some point but have started to fail with this error code. Some things I checked:Ping test, problem servers to the ESX, MA, Netapp, Commserve all ok  Checked Advanced Options on Subclient > Access Node ESX Server / Vcenter and host is ok Transport Mode for VMware is set to AutoNot sure what else I can check?

Hi Team,We purchased a Huawei Dorado 18000 v6 device onsite to use in Commvault backups. We want to configure and define this device as a Nas Library, but some questions came up to my mind.- Are there any Best Practices to follow when defining a NAS Library to Commvault?- What should we determine as Block Size on the storage side?- Would it be more logical to set a quota when creating a NAS share on the storage side or to use the "Do not Consume more than" option on Commvault?- Would it be more efficient to create a library with many NAS shares, for example 5*10TB=50TB or 1*50TB=50TB?- If I am going to use 3 Media Agents, would it be more logical to create a DDB with 3 partitions and place each partition in the relevant MA? Best Regards.

We have a 6 node HPE Apollo 4200 Gen10 reference architecture cluster that we need to migrate In place from a HyperScale X 2.x cluster to a HyperScale X 3.x cluster.We are currently running at Commvault version 11.32.80.Is it better to upgrade to the latest release of 11.32 or upgrade to the latest release of 11.36 before performing this migration ? Each node has 24 18TB drives. How long will this migration take ?Can backups/restores still run against this cluster while the migration is in progress ?Should the migration process be started from the iLO remote console ?The root password on all 6 nodes are different is this ok ?The migration script says it will ask for “Root password of existing cluster:” Is this the root password of the server we are running the migration script from ? Thanks  

i tried a lot to have live session to have training to know how to configure back up schedule on servers but no reply from them a lot of tickets and messages and no benefit and the customer care closed my calls when describe my issue!

Hi Team,We are experiencing an issue with one of the servers, which disconnects from the application at 5 AM EST every day. Upon investigation, we found that a snapshot removal operation or disk consolidation of the backup snapshot occurs during this time.We have a scheduled backup at 5 PM EST every day during non-business hours. However, Commvault triggers the disk consolidation operation at 4:58 AM or 5:00 AM EST every morning, causing an outage on the server during this time.Is it possible to change the disk consolidation window/schedule/pattern?

Seem to be on the struggle bus as of late with LiveSync. I’ve reinstalled the failover packages a few times but when I run CvFailover -OpType GetFailoverConfig my standby role doesn’t show up as “Stand by Node” it is “Test node”. I’ve tried disabling and re-enabling LiveSync, etc. Nothing in the LiveSync logs that I can see show why this is. Any ideas would be appreciated.Uninstalling and reinstalling is sort of a pain due to certs and CA bundle monkeying around and I can find no references to Test Node in any documentation pertaining to the Stand By.thanks

 Just abit baffled by how to create backup plan for vm groups called domain controllers . we need to have daily backup with retention period of 35 days and also vm group of same machines run every month with retention of 365 days . i created daily incremental backup Plan  as well as monthly incremental plan , but dont know how add the vm group to both or is there any other way . Thanks  ( please see below table). The enviroment is vmware virtualization  Service/System  Historical Period  Recovery Point  Data Retention  Recovery Time  Domain Controllers  0 to 35 days  24 hours  35 days  Next business day  Domain Controllers  35 to 365 days  1 month  365 days  3 business days 

I backup my VMs in sub clients and once and I while I will get a failure due to “insufficient free space available to create snapshot”. Sometimes I try to move things around on a datastore or try to do an extension but the storage team does not always appreciate it. I found I can just lower the threshold in the sub client and the next backup works fine.  Am I losing anything by doing this or making anything less sufficient? It is much easier for me to fix it on my side than debate with another team but is this health in the long run? 

Hi,I created Storage Pool form two Media Agents with DAS storage, DataServer-IP transport is used to access partner MA storage. DDB has 2 partitions, one per server.I did DB restore tests, using 2 streams and got results around 900 GB/h per stream.But if I create Storage pool using only one MA restores are faster, around 1250 GB/h per stream.Do you have any ideas, why DataServer-IP slows down restore process? In my understanding it should be opposite.

I just want to list all servers that were backed up in the last 30 days. Preferably just the VMs. I just want o compare what is backed up vs what i download from my active VMware VCenters. Is it possible to list just the servers without  all the storage policy and schedule info in a report?

Hello All,I am taking triditional VMware backup and I also take with Intelli snap. (virtual server Agent snap). What is the differneces between them. And IF I take backup via Virtual Server Agent snap,Will  the snapshots grow continuously during the backup Copy period? 

Hello,I have Commvault backup server on simpana version 11.28.68. Also I have Tape library HPE MSL3040 with two Drives..The backup is placed on the tape library. I have a problem two days ago with one tape which was stuck in one drive. I read instruction for Tape library where I immediately had to remove the tape from the Tape library that caused the problem. That tape was in Assigned media. I didn't declare it full, nor did I move it to another scrath pool, I just took it out.Now I have situation that in Assigned media there is display as if the tape exists. but there is label “Not available”. Now, I declared tape bed but still exists in Assigned Media.How can I completely remove the tape from Assigned media?Thank you!Best regards,Elizabeta  

I am setting up a new user/group and not sure which permissions to apply so that the user/group can only view the plans (schedules) that’s assigned to its resources. 

i have the commvault v 11.32.76. im trying retire from protect>laptops a laptop. the job starts but in job log i receive error. job log is attached. in my command center email settings is configured and its works. but when i click retire on laptop,i receive message that i recieve email message for approves ths operation, but i cant receive this message. when i click on test email from email settings from the command center i receive email message. what i do? 

Hi all, I am still able to login to the previous education portal ea.commvault.com and can see my certification, however, I am unable to login to the new portal https://commvault.csod.com/login/render.aspx?id=defaultclp using the same credentials.  Shouldn’t I be able to login using same credentials, or  do I have to create a new login credential? if yes, how to move my certification and pending courses/exams from old portal to this new portal? Could anyone please help me?
