We have an offsite facility we send our aux copies to for DR purposes. PB’s of data for CommVault to go through . We do not have a firewall, and port 8400 can reach the offsite ok. Some of us in house think using the network topology to create a persistent connection and then open 8 routes will speed up the process over letting Commvault handle the traffic automatically. Does anyone have any insight into which process is better to use for us? or more technical how the network routes work or a recommended setup?
Hi all, I have reviewed 2 environments showing the same inconsistency, FR24 and FR28/2022E (On screenshots)On a storage policy that has a snap and a primary copy where encryption is used the following is seen:Java GUI > Properties on primary copy > Shows encrypted (Taken over from GDDB, as expected)What I expect to see in command center, when I review my backup copy job > Encryption Enabled: Yes, as we can see in the java GUI.What it actually shows:Encryption enabled: Unavailable When reviewing the snap job (Which does not use dedupe, and we do not encrypt it)In the command center it shows: Encryption enabled: YesIn java GUI it shows: Encryption enabled: No (As expected, because we do not encrypt the snaps) Is this somehow expected behavior, or should we raise a case to dig into this more?
Can I move a partition from a SEALED DDB to the same partition path where the active DDB is located? I just sealed the database before move the partition.
Hey all,I am looking at configuring Periodic Classic Replication for some VM’s running on VMware Vcenter 7.0.2. Essentially I would like to run a replication job post backup from Cluster A to Cluster B in different locations.When Configuring through Command Center, selecting the VCenter and then selecting ‘Actions’ on the VM Group and clicking ‘Configure Replication’ it takes me to the ‘Configure replication group’ page that states ‘There are no virtual machines available for replication. Please select another hypervisor or VM group.’I am unable to select any VM’s to add at this point. The VM’s in this group are:Backed up and in schedule The VM Group uses a Tag in VMware to flag it for backup in the subclient The Destination is another cluster (in another site) in the same VCenter (though not got as far as selecting a destination) Streaming backups used for Primary Backup (No Hardware Snap) Version is 11.25.19 Both Clusters have access to backup data MA and Storage VCenter is online
On Sealing the Deduplication Database page there is a note. Can I perform Synthetic Full Backups of associated subclients manually instead of traditional Full Backups?

We already created Azure app for Azure VM agentless backup in one subscription, plan to create additional 10 subscription for business purpose, plan to backup about 100 Azure VM in each subscription, totally will increase 1000 servers backup demand.Shall we use current Azure app to cover all 11 Azure subscription backup demand? or better to create Azure app for each subscription?

Hi,I'm getting the error [24:64] Description: There was nothing to restore - subclient(s) not backed up.When I do the restore of the virtual machine the restore works normally, but when I restore the guest files and folder, the commvault shows this error. I can also browse the files normally, does anyone have any idea what might be going on? restores are for Nutanix AHV.

We have a HyperScale 1.5 Storage Pool with 3 nodes Lenovo ThinkSystem SR650 Server. We plan to upgrade Operating System from RedHat 7.7 to RedHat 7.9 (using Commvault workaround well documented). Since the firmware is not updated since they were first installed, we would like to update it, but it's not clear from the documentation if we can update all HW components or we have to check a compatibility matrix first. Hello All,I am from TSM background and when VTL was introduced in TSM, the scratch tapes were not automatically deleted in VTL. Later, RELABELSCRATCH parameter was introduced and it allows to automatically relabel volumes when they are returned to scratch. I remember that specific settings we have do in Backup Exec and HP data Protector backup software too.→ I want to know whether any similar setting is there in Commvault?More details as per TSM perspective → Virtual Tape Libraries (VTLs) maintain volume space allocation after Tivoli Storage Manager has deleted a volume and returned it to a scratch state. The VTL has no knowledge that the volume was deleted and it keeps the full size of the volume allocate. This can be extremely large depending on the devices being emulated. As a result of multiple volumes that return to scratch, the VTL can maintain their allocation size and run out of storage space. Hi All, today i saw in one enviroment with the following setup: Each Oracle Server has 3 Subclients: Archivelog, Default, Selective and the jobs goes to 1 Disk Library2 Sync Tape3 Selective Tape We had oracle Subclients which takes Daily Full and hourly archive log backup and monthly selective. I Checked the jobs in the Selective Tape Copy and i find for each month double Jobs. The normal daily full was written to the selective copy and also the selective copy was written. Is this normal ? Becasue than we did not need the selöective subclient any more. My standig was that only selctive db backups can copy to the selective copy.
I have seen on three different occasions where domain users are being removed from the master group after cycling services on the CS. This has happened on 11.16, 11.24, and 11.28 in different environments. Sometimes the users stay in the master group and other times it seems like the permissions wipe after a few minutes and they are out again. I checked the forums for this and didn’t see anything specifically mentioned about it. Before I opened a support ticket about it, I wanted to see what everyone here had to say about it. Thanks!!
Hi! Some time ago we set up Commcell dedicated to Hadoop environment. One media agent, one DDB (two partitions, hosted on local SSDs), deduplication block size increased to 512KB, disk library from few external SAN attached storage arrays. And it keep growing :) Few incremental jobs a day, writing ~10TB, synthetic full each 10 days. Without any performance issues so far. DDB Q&I ~ 500ns. Both backup and restore time acceptable. It’s kind of archive, not typical backup solution. Last month I was asked to disable retention, because ongoing migration activities. And it keep growing faster. I assume until 2PB on disk library by the end of year. So wondering when I’d hit the ceiling for this setup? I know it breaks media agent and deduplication sizing, but until Q&I time are fine everything is acceptable? Or i would hit other limit? It need to survive until end of this year! :) Some numbers below : Thanks!
We make daily backups of our servers.Every month we write the backup data on tapes.The retention period for these tapes is one year.For December, we create an end-of-year backup with unlimited retention time.Our goal is to have an annual backup for December and reuse the remaining months' tapes after one year.Due to server retirement, there are monthly tapes that we cannot reuse without first deleting the contents (Retain time until: infinite). If we do so, we lost data.Is there a solution to this problem?
1, we have more tag on Azure disk, when I backup Azure VM by Intellisnap, couldn’t see any tags on snapshot. How to inherit Azure disk tag on snapshot? 2, I restored one Azure VM, restore Azure VM inherit tag from source, but Azure Disk didn’t inherit tag from source disk, any chance to inherit automatically?
