Hi all ,i got tape problem- no active controller assigned ,initializing device failed .in the library all good and work , the problem in the commvault .the write to storage work prefect .full scan not working (library is not ready )after reset library got error message (initialzing device failed ) anyone got this problem ? any suggestion ? Commvault upgrade includes upgrade of Commserve Console, Media agents and Servers (VM and Physical). We have about 14 different sites and over 500 servers so I cannot complete upgrade of Commcell console in a day. Probably it will take about a month to complete upgrade across site. So my question is will the backup have any issues when the commcell console (11.24) is in an upgrade version and the media agent and servers are in lower version (11.16)

Hi All.I download the last package - a trial version - for evaluate the Commvault performance.When I did try to install the package, arrive at one point when the installation process request me to insert the ‘sa’ password.I created one Windows server (2019 standard version) ad hoc for this test. After the installation of the Operative System how first product I did install Commvault.On this server don’t exist other additional middleware program.When I arrive at the moment that the installation program request me to insert the “sa” password I did try to insert different options without success.Actually I can’t continue with the installation program.I did try to looking for other possibilities for set the password of SQL Server, without success too.I would like to know how can I make for fix this problem for finish the process installation.THanks in advance.Best RegardsRicardo
Hello All,I understood we need odd number of servers to setup the index server cloud. However when we have 5 node in cloud, 3 for HAC and 2 for index store. In this case 2 index store node will have a disk capacity based on the sizing.Lets consider i am setting up exchange on prem backups with content indexing, i have 5 node index cloud and two access nodes. I will also have share for job results directory.Now the question is around the index server cloud setup, when i create the index server its requesting to update the index directory location but i have two nodes acting as index store in this case which node disk should be used for the index directory when i configure the index server cloud.If i use any 1 of the node disk then if that node fails or down due to some reason i will not be able to search \ browse the index from that node in this scenario this will be single point of failure even if we call it as Index server cloud with HAC rite.I would like to understand more about this
Dear all,is there any way to sync the internal schedule with an external application such as Outlook or similar?I understand this would be a one-way synchronization but it still would be useful to integrate Commvault schedule into an external calendar. We want to upgrade our old commvault server which also has commvault SQL DB. I believe license for both Commvault Commcell and SQL is provided as bundle by Commvault.So when we do upgrade of Commvault Commcell and all other components of Commvault can we use our own license for SQL? This way instead of having Commvault (Commserve) and SQL running on same server, we have got separate SQL DB licensed by us? This approach is different to in-place upgrade where you upgrade your DB and Commvault which is running on same server. Commserve version is 11.24.7 running on Server 2012 and SQL is 2012 Enterprise
Hello Commvault Community, Some time ago I ran a case in Commvault support for SP20, for a problem with granular data recovery for BLB. Incident 210702-97 The issue has been resolved with hotfix: SP20_PreRelease-4648-BINAfter upgrading the environment to SP24, the problem was noticed again when trying to granular restore for BLB. Here I have a request for you to check if this fix is included in SP24 or is there a need to raise a ticket in Commvault support asking for rewriting this fix for SP24? ThanksKamil
Hello Community just wondering if CV supports point-in-time restore for mssql db when it has block-level backup configured for the dbsif so, once we restore that first job, can we only need to restore tlog backups to keep the destination DB up to date ?or can we schedule db clone ?
Hello Team, Backup type: FSbasedDatabase version: 13.8 and 11.17CV version: 11.26.36 Is it possible to perform a restoration of FSbased PostgreSQL backup (instance1) to a different server with different instance name (instance2) ? (where we have different instance name and OS linux users) Will the copy operation from CV backup server to instance2 work? If it works, will it have file permissions same as instance1 ?If not, then how do we handle this scenario. A typical example, we would like to copy a database from one instance to another. Our new SAN for CommVault Disk library is Dell PowerScale H7000 OneFS, the library in production is NetApp 2750. We use Windows 2019 MA and ISCSI LUNS on NetApp. Since PowerScale H7000 doesn't support iSCSI LUNS and Sealing DDB or Creating new Disk Library > Global DDB > New Primary is not the preferred path. Is it possible to create new path on current disk library the path on SMB share on DELL OneFS and disable the writes on all local ISCSI path’s with option checked “Prevent data block references for new backup” we could do this to all local disk at once or gradually. Our retention is 90 days on this SP. So could I delete those paths after jobs age out and continue using path on SMB share.

Need help in sending snmp traps for backup failures of only few storage policy to a seperate trap servers We have current configuration,where all alerts are sent to a trap serverOne customer wanted to get alerts only for their servers(shared environment where we backup servers from multiple customer in single commcell) to a seperate trap server.we cannot add their trap server in destination trap as they will recieve all alerts. When I restart a media, I selecting the Mark MediaAgent Offline for Maintenance so that I do not jump alerts, but even so they keep jumping me as soon as I mark it in maintenance. reason?

We are an MSP, and we have a client who wants to be sure that we run a “Yearly Full” on a certain date in January. And that would need to get copied out to tape that would be retained for much longer and go to a different off-site location, so we want separate tapes for this yearly.One of the junior admins tried to configure this in the Command Center and then came to me with questions.He has a Monthly Copy and a Yearly Copy configured to copy to the tape pool.But we couldn’t figure out whether simply marking this as a Yearly would make it run yearly. We tried to create a schedule from the CommCell Console, with the yearly rules where we could state that the yearly backup runs on the X day of X month, etc. But we couldn’t seem to find these types of rules on the Plan created copy, from Command Center nor CommCell Console. It seems like the selective rules are different on the Command Center created policy and Advanced is greyed out next to yearly.We’re wondering what the correct Co

We seem to run into multiple problems in our new HSX environment. Metadata disk d2 silently filled 100% on one of three nodes, data disks are all 90-95%, but in GUI only 550 of 720TB are shown as used. Not a single alert for this, all green in GUI. An then there is disk d22 / sdv on one node that failed a few weeks ago and was replaced together with support. Hi All,I am trying to automate the commvault setup, configuration and backup/restore procedure in our environment. We have chosen python sdk (cvpysdk) to do automation. I am not able to find any module for media agent installation in cvpysdk. Can anyone please please help me with the workaround? Even a CLI would help for automation. I am doing all the setip on windows client, hence need the cli/module for windows setup/configuration. Thanks in advance.
