Hello, Is it possible to federate the management of multiple comserves like VMware vCenter LikedMode ?I have for example 6 commserve on each Countries and I want to manage them from a single point. Thanks !

Can we copy data from a bad tape to another tape in commvault? or is there a way to copy data from secondary copy tape to primary copy tape if the primary tape goes bad?

Wondering how can I set a specific time for TRANS logs to expire.   I dont see where I can set a specific RETENTION for the TRANS logs backup schedule.  I notice on a FULL Schedule for SQL or for Windows File systems  when you click the “Advance” button on the bottom of the “Schedule Pattern” tab that there is a “Media” tab on the “Advance backup options” and you can set job retentions etc…   For a TRANS schedule the media Tab doesnt offer that??ThanksBC

Hello community,I am testing a Commserve failover.I have already made a test when there were no firewall and all is ok.Now it is in production and firewall is implemented.There is ON premise site and AWS site connected through direct connect VPNeach site is backuped up locally, it means that actually there is no backup copy from on premise to AWS. I am not sure about the communication and ports used when the commserve DR becomes the master.I think that when the commserve located on AWS become the master, the new commserve should communicates with MA and clients locatedon aws and also on premise Here is a little diagram, any help would be very appreciated.I need somehelp to identify what port to use and what source and destination (bidirectionnal or not) and I will ask the network team to add rules. Thank you !   

Hello All,I am about to configure alert for Backup Copy fallen behind.Long story short i would like to have monitoring for the bakcup copies of VSA snapshots.Recently we faced issue with missing synthetic full and broken chain, and after that no backup copy was executed automatically. In order to avoid such delays in the backup copies i would like to setup monitoring for this and if the same issue appear in the future to receive notification.So, i have activated the Backup Copy fallen behind on the storage policies in question: https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=106912.htmBut in the alerts tab there is no configured alert for this as it is with “AUX Copy fallen behind”So can someone who configured such alert give me idea what Alert Category & Type have to be set ? Thank you in advance for your time.

Hi Mike, Yes i am having the same problem. I tried this method but got no results. I restarted Commvault services. I made a cache commit. However, the result did not change. I will reboot CS tomorrow :) If not resolved I will open a new issue.

Hey all,before raising a ticket to support I want to know if I miss something.I’ve created a new backup plan (call it ‘B’) and assigned it to users group based on AD group.the AD group contains about 500 users, some new and some already exist in CV.For the new users plan ‘B’ is assigned successfully during activation.The issue is with existing user that already assigned to plan ‘A’.I have a workflow to run on all users in a group and assign the respective plan to their laptops, but the issue is that the users are not present in the users group although that they do exist in the AD group. What do I miss? ThanksYirmi

Since we run 11.22 , we have the following in the reports.The report selection boxes are unreadable (white on light gray)...to be honest...I’m not young, but also not that old, so I think that’s a problem with Commvault admin center :)  

Hello, I would to set continuous incremental backups every 30 minutes from last job’s end time and synth fulls during the weekend, on laptops. I’ve created a schedule policy with this settings. My problem is that many users, friday evening, shut their laptops, hanging in most of cases an incremental backup, then when synth full is triggered, it fails because their is already a job (that’s what i could trace). The problem is that i approximatively never have successfull synth fulls. So, is there a problem wanting to set a backup sequence this way? Thanks in advance for tips on it. Regards.

Hello,We have an Isilon cluster for primary storage for CIFS and NFS clients. We back it up to tape and disk libraries using 3-way ndmp. Incremental backups can be very large from time to time, so large that it seems like it might be backing up files that have not really changed. For example the current backup has transfered 1.7 million files. It seems unlikely that 1.7 million files have changed in the last 24 hours since the previous incremental (daily).So the questions I have are -How are files selected for incremental backup and is there a way to modify/control it? Is there a way to get a report on what files were backed up in a given job and what changed in the file that caused it to be backed up?Thanks,Ron

Morning,I am looking to ensure that that for extended retention the backup from the last day of the month is retained as per the extended retention rules. In the Incremental/Synthetic Full configuration created as part of the plan configuration is this possible? If so how can i configure to ensure that a synthetic full is ran on the last day of the month and then retained as per the extended retention rules?Thanks in advance. 

Hello,Initial scenario:Server MS Windows 2012 and MS SQL 2014 - hostname: lxpsql012 servers MS Windows were purchased (Physical Servers)2 servers MS Windows 2019 and MS SQL 2019Hostname: sql01Hostname: sql02 ** I can´t replicate the database between sql2014 and sql2019, because this replicator between theses versions is not supported. What has already been done:I made a restore of the SQL databases from lxpsql01 to sql01. Done and validate with DBAThen, the databases is in the Win2019 and SQL2019Now, i need to replicate the SQL database to another server: sql01 ==> sql02But when i use sql Live Sync options, the databases don´t appear in the GUI  ** in another server lxpsql01 made a test and appear, but the DBA need to change anything in the database and the DBA  said that it has already done this configuration on the new servers(win2019/sql2019)Has anyone ever experience this? I have opened another post about this Ms Sql configuration:https://community.commvault.com/technical-q-a-2/

Sorry another post about permissions. Have users with Permissions of “View” and “Report Management” at the Comcell level however not all reports (default Commvault ones) are available to see.For example the Health Report. Documentation (https://documentation.commvault.com/11.21/expert/96415_viewing_health_report_on_web_console_without_private_metrics_reporting_server.html) says need Report Management permissions but this doesn’t seem to be the case?Another example Disk Library Utilization Report (https://documentation.commvault.com/11.21/expert/38472_viewing_disk_library_utilization_report_on_web_console.html). Have the permissions it’s asking for but doesn’t show for the user.Any help on whether I’m interpreting the documentation wrong or if this is incorrect documentation would be helpful.  Thanks for responses in advance.

Hi,A user that was once part of the master role group to assist with configuration of the platform has been moved to a different group that has fewer permissions however it looks like any configuration done by that user on an entity they retain more rights than that of the role they currently have on the entity? (Possibly some sort of creator role meaning you have full permissions?)how is best to ensure only permissions assigned to a role that is configured on the required entities is used going forward?thanks
