Hi,I'd like to know how to check that my ‘Retire laptops when they are offline for...’ and ‘Delete retired laptops after’ settings are working properly ?the number of laptops is not decreasing… thanks a lot 

Good dayI”m busy configuring the download center for endpoint package installs. I’ve created the repository using the Web Server options and then added the packages as required and synchronised them.When creating a laptop user and having the invite link sent to them, the below page opens up with no packages published.  If the user navigates to the Webconsole and to the Download Centre, the packages are listed. Ideally I’d prefer the above page to be populate, but not sure when I’m missing?

Dear Commvault,We are facing problem in a restore of a shared folder (within a Windows Server VM).Data files are restored but not their share permissions. Is there any schedule for share permission restore, maybe from registry level?Please for your feedback,Nikos

Hello Commvault Community,While restoring SQL DB to “D” and “E” drive we are getting the below error.Description: Encountered error while writing to the file. Error code [28]. Please make sure there is enough disk space on [C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\iDataAgent\JobResults\CV_JobResults\2\0\18631087\RstStage].I would like to know why the CV_JobResults is taking so much of space (67GB) on “C” drive. In the other hand we have another server where CV_JobResults is availble in “D” drive is taking less space (67KB).If this issue created for the content store available on the Drives, could you please assist me if I can change the path and how. If not please suggest the solutions.

Hi,We are trying to do a Postgres DumpBasedBackupSet Restore, but it takes longer for restore to finish.Like 300Gb take a 1 ½  day and we end up killing the job!!!Any help/suggestions to improve the speed?On hardware side we have enough resources:Source:Postgres version : 10.17OS: CentOS stream 8 Destine:Postgres version : 14.11OS: CentOS stream 9 During restore I can’t see the throughput or number of stream allocated. Thanks,

 I have the SLA dropped down today suddenly. Checking the reason, I find that it is because of client that is being backed up monthly with no change in the configuration.Any idea what could be the reason? I have also checked the sub clients associated; and it is only one Sub client the default one. The schedule is monthly with a Backup option Run Incremental before Synth FYLL backup.  Surprisingly from the backup history only this month I find a separate record for Incremental backup kicked off before the SYNTH FULL which is not the case for the rest of the month. ​

I need to put this out there as this has been pointed out to me in a support case, as I was told I was running an unsupported configuration for 1-touch backupsMy unsupported configuration?  Running RHEL8.9.Yes, running a fully patched version of RHEL is currently unsupported for 1-touch backup.So I’m running 11.32.49, and here is the supported  list of versions (the chart is the same for 11.34) link here Now here is the thing about this - RHEL8.7 was superseded by RHEL8.8 May 2023, which was superseded by RHEL8.9 November 2023.  Release dates hereSo 1-touch backups for a RHEL8 fully patched system have been unsupported by Commvault since May 2023.  If you look at that support list only RHEL8.6 with Extended Update Support is currently supported by both Commvault and Redhat (Red Had info here)It’s even worse if you look at the RHEL9 info.  RHEL9.0 was superseded by RHEL9.1 in November 2022 (and superseded up to RHEL9.3 as of now).  So no version of RHEL9 is actually currently supported

Hi Guys,  I would suggest reporting mainly on monthly basis to the customer  SLA, Failed jobs statistics, Libraries growth rate.  Does anyone have better report information? any insights on that please ?

Hi Techies, We have 11.32.49 and its job controller do not show correct job status / progress in Java console. Sometime it will update real-time, sometime 20 to 30 minutes delay. Thought we have open a support case and awaiting RCA. In the meantime, I am sure many of you have come across similar issues.  This problem that I explained above is with all types of jobs. In fact library space also messed up badly.  

Recently I was tasked with restoring ACLs on a file share that was accidentally overwritten.  When I started working on the recovery I had an issue that I was  unable to see what the permissions were on the folders and files in the backup and the only way I was able to determine which backup had the data that I needed was to restore multiple times until I was able to find a backup that had the ACLs on them.  Is there a better way to do this?  Is there an option in Commvault that I’m not aware of to be able to view the ACLs on the backup copies of the data? Thanks for your time.-Adam

Background: We are taking weekly synthetic fulls (daily incrementals) and only writing the “last full of the month” to tapes.Question: If we moved to *not* doing weekly syn fulls and chose something else like bi-monthly or 1 Syn full/month, all other things being the equal (like our retention and tape writing stays the same), are there any benefits to storage on disk or “possible issues to consider”?Comments: I bet “restoring something is likely to take longer as it may have to reconcile many more incrementals” but I’m mostly hoping that less syn fulls - less data stored on local storage, but I’m not sure if this is true.  I can’t think of any other possible issues other than if you have corrupt/bad incrementals (for whatever reason), that would be much more of an issue than always having a weekly full to compensate, if a restore was needed.

Guten Tag, wir haben eine Tape Library die in der Vergangenheit verschiedene Jobs aufbewahrt hatte. Nun haben wir das Problem das die Library vollgelaufen ist und wir bestimmte Bänder nicht freibekommen, weil verschiedene Jobs die nicht ausgealtert sind das Band nicht freigeben und teilweise wegen ein Job noch gehalten wird.  Wir wollen versuchen jetzt in Zukunft ein sauberen Jobs auf dieTapelibrary bringen.  Kann man irgendwo in Commvault einstellen das bestimmte Jobs einer Storage Policy in eine bestimmte Medien Gruppe / Storage Pool der Tape Library geht und andere Jobs die halt eine kürze Vorhalte Zeit haben dann woanders auf der Library kopieren. So das sie nicht im gleichen Medien unterkommen? Vielen Dank für die Zeit zum lesen. 

GreetingsI’m busy testing the EDC to migrate from Backup Exec to Commvault.I must stress that I”m using a trial license of Backup Exec and Commvault to test this, so this may be causing my issue. When I install and configure the EDC on the BE Master Server, I don’t get the option to configure the connection settings to the BE server as listed below.It auto configs with no options to edit any settings.https://documentation.commvault.com/2024/expert/discover_and_migrate_external_data_connector.html I simply get the below with no options to configure the instance options:  As a result, the Discovery fails in connecting to BE.I tried to then create the xml answer file using the below example that could be used to run the discover. Hi Team,Recently we had multiple clients because of which license was over utilized to 130%. so, I disabled the clients for which backup isn’t required and now the license utilization is at 92% but I still see the below error.“The system is over the licensed capacity/usage. Hi,How I can edit the CommServe host name from the client? I have reinstalled this many times. At first it listed a correct CommServe hostname. After 5-10 mins, a “_Disabled_” appeared before the correct CommServe host name.Take note that we’re on managed services. And this is an internal issue after the installation. Hi everyone, I have live sync enabled between two comm cells “Active and Passive”. DB maintenance haven’t run since around 2 years. the workflow is disabled unfortunately.  I need to run the command dbmaintenance -full on the active server. Shall I disable the live sync before running the command? Do I need to run the same command on the passive commcell server as well? Thanks in advance
