Hello,I have a simple question. Is it safe to change storage policy for a subclient? Is there any data loss posibility? Do remain old data in the old storage policy?I am asking because I need to temporarily change disk library to tape library and because data are not synchronized it is not possible to promote secondary copy to primary.

This is simple but working trick to maintain Commvault.When you want to start (typically backup) jobs via CLI instead of Schedule Policies, it involves qlogin in the first place to log into CommCell.This command is mostly straight-forward to use but when trying to invoke multiple jobs from one server it arises some errors, like Error 0x10b: User not logged in, Error 0x208 Token file is corrupted or relevalt errors.As BOL explains -f parameter to use Token file as follows:When using qlogin without -f option, it generates a file named "qsessions.OS-User, directly under Commvault installation directory.This file must be created with administrative privilege on this server to modify installation directory, also need to exist until any qoperations called in the shell (like qlist job), then it will be removed when the shell calls qlogout.This default token file is generated per OS user, not Commvault user so if multiple shells are called simultaneously it uses the same qsession file.So when

Installation of Hyper-V cluster in commvault. Agent Virtual server installed on the commserver and on the 2 hosts of the hyper-v system.The client in commvault has been created with the name of the cluster and with the 2 hosts as nodes of the virutal server Hyper-VNow the problem is that I see only the first host in the browse of the subclient. And all the VMs of this host. Can you assist me? If I select only the second host as node, I can see all VMs from this host, so I presume that’s not a permissions issue.  

Is there a way to configure the DAG client to authenticate to a specific AD server.We have an environment where there is are 2 domains for Exchange literally with the same name.One is production and another is non-production.  I need to configure the DAG but I am getting discovery failed everytime I run a discovery. Which I suspect is trying to authenticate thru the production AD environment.Any suggestions will be helpful..

Hi looking for some advice on Backing up Nutanix files.Nutanix ver 5.20.230 TB of capacityCommvault hyperscale 3 node cluster10 GB ethernet connectivity.  CIFS And NFS enabled. Documentation states the backups run through Access nodes and at aminimum 1 access node per protocol. Is there any integration with intellisnap for Nutanix files? I did not see this covered in the documentation, but maybe not looking in the right place.        

Hey All, I have a question to the following scenario: Windows MA with an NVME Flashcard Actually the flashcard is formatted with 4K blocksize and we are planning to format the disk for 32KB blocksize as written in BOL ( https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/12411_deduplication_building_block_guide.html )  On the Flashcard we are hosting 3 DDBs. DDB is for backups to an cloudian Backup Device over S3 Protocoll in local Datacenter DDB is for Backups to SAN Attached STorage DDB is for backups into S3 Storage out of the Datacenter I have the following question. Can we use one Windows Partition with 32K Blocksize or should we make 3 partitions with different windows block size ?  The second question is which blocksize we need for the DDBs ? ( Block level Deduplication factor ) for all 3 DBs

Hi,I am using commvault tool first time and i have added my window machine in commcell, now i am going to install agent on that machine but getting the below error, Failed to install Base Package. Failed to access remote registry. I am using window 10 OS there is no AD this system on workgroup network and machine was on azure portal.username is: workgroup\commvault for more information please find the screenshotAlso how i can download agent software from commcell and install manually on window and Linux machine

Noticed the instructions are incomplete on Creating a CA-Signed Certificate for the Tomcat Server (commvault.com)Followed instructions, creating keystore file and then generating csr.After getting csr signed. A CER is received. Now i have a keystore.jks file and signed CER file .What would be the next action in converting this to correct format to then proceed to Configuring the SSL Certificate for Tomcat Server (commvault.com). Any help is appreciated thank you.

Hey guys,There’s something I can’t really understand about the way ‘Client Computers’ and ‘Client Computer Groups’ are working.Am I not supposed to see all of my clients under ‘Client Computers’ when adding a new one?Why is it that some clients are only under one of the ‘Client Computer Groups’ and some are only under ‘Client Computers’ and even some are under both?Thanks alot!

Our Database team which handles SQL servers and SQL databases has sent us a notice that they are wanting to upgrade the SQL Database from 2014 to 2019. “Hello Team,BKR-BKCOM-01/COMMVAULT is still running on an old version of SQL 2014, hence we need to upgrade the server to latest version of 2019. Can you help us on how to proceed? This is a physical server so we need a new physical server to host the 2019 version then move the databases. Once tested, then we can offline the old 2014 version and online the new server to production.”I don't know if they are saying they want a new server for the Commvault Commserve or if they are hinting at their own server, which makes no sense why he added that in the email. For Windows File System backups, 2 System State filters are being deprecated in 11.21:{One touch files} {Offline files}These are being deprecated going forward since filtering these items will limit the ability to perform One Touch Restores.  Going forward, these filters cannot be added, though existing filters will be honored.Please note that if these filters were added as a workaround and are removed, they cannot be re-added.  If errors arise as a result, please create a new discussion, or comment below.

We are currently implementing SAP HANA Integration backups with Commvault. We have a sub-client each configured for SYSTEMDB and TENANTDB.When backups are triggered via Commvault schedules, the default sub-client for each are used, which then use the correct media agent that have been configured on the sub-client (Righ-click on the sub-client → Properties → Storage Device → Data Paths → Check “Override Data Paths” → Check the required Media Agent).However, we have LOG and CAT backups for HANA triggered by HANA itself and not from Commvault. This causes such backups to not use the default sub-client and are visible as “Logcommand Line” as the sub-client instead of “default”: This causes such jobs to use any media server which is configured for sharing data paths on the Storage policy.How can we force such backups to also use the default sub-client ?I was thinking if there could be a CV parameter that can be set on the “param” file (/opt/commvault/iDataAgent/jobResults/SapHana/<SID&gt

Hello, we’re currently due for a hardware refresh for our CommCell and media agents. Currently, we have an ‘all-in-one’ setup with CommCell and media agent both installed baremetal on a dell server. I understand that it is likely better to have the CommCell hosted on a separate server? If that is the case, which server hosts the index cache and DDB? This will be on a Windows install… would it be an issue running the media agent on a hyperv host with the commcell as a guest vm? Thanks

Report to find if a specific username is being used in multiple locations on Commvault We recently changed the password of a username that was being used to backup different environments.Is there a report in Commvault that I can use to search for a username such as domain\username so as to find out if it is being used to backup say 10 different environments.
