i checked Backup History. but backup display is [VM Admin Job(Backup)] It used to be marked as a backup, why display VM Admin Job??  When i View media on VM Admin Job I can't see where the media is backed up.  

Does File Recovery Enabler for Linux require SSH in order to function? If not, is there a way to disable this? If this is by design then just looking for an explanation for why this is enabled.  Thanks.

Management has found the CommVault Cleanup Report and is reviewing it monthly to ensure I’m looking after CommVault properly.  One of the sections shows the Disabled Subclients which contains 39 entries, 29 of which are “default”.  When I go in through the java GUI, there’s no option to delete these even though there are no backups and they are not part of a schedule.Question:  Is there a way to delete the “default” sublcient?KenP.S.  The client doesn’t have a Plan within the command center nor does the default subclient.

If I needed to have more disk storage pools (in order to have more storage policy copies with different retention), I would need to have more deduplication engines. Is it possible to create multiple deduplication engines within one disk drive? Are there any limitation for the number of deduplication engines on one disk drive? Thanks in advance for your engagement!

Good day Community,For a second customer this month, when I install the standby CommServe it hangs and spins. The first customer took three full reinstall to finally get it through. But the current client, it never works and always hangs. In the install log file, it hangs on this line.Adding environment variable [CV_Instance001] = [C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\Base]When I look the variables, it is there.I’m using version 11.28.44Is this something common?Thanks in advance.

Hello,can I use a PostgreeSQL on GCP Cloud as a Database for my Salesforcebackup.Documentation says Postgree is al right and points the to AWS and AZURE Postgree, but no in GCP. but this DOcumentation is about 2 Years old.ThanksEckehard

Windows 2016 server Client is installed manually and is visible to the Commvault side. All the connectivity and readiness checks are Okay. But when we are trying to configure file system subclients, It gives following error message, “Client configuration failed. There is no license available for File System Core.” As this CommCell is configured with host-based licensing this need to purchase an additional license from Commvault. ? Kindly help us to verify this as we couldn’t found a documentation proof.We installed File System and SQL server agent with the installation. 

Hello!We are finally testing Indexing v2 for VMs and it seems like it is MUCH faster than V1. We are testing on our 800+ dev/test VMs and we have some random errors:Failure Reason: Mismatch detected in blocks being backed up for certain volumes or disks. The next incremental will resolve the situation automaticallySo yeah, I opened a new case with CV support but… it seems like they have no idea what should be done :)So, now the Support Engineer says that the problem is ...with the incremental backup before Synch Full. Interesting, but the last incremental is green. I am uploading more and more logs for investigation, and there is no answer [yet].So, I wanted to ask the community, probably somebody knows what could be the reason.BTW, using Indexing v1 with the same ESXi hosts, the same network etc we did not have issues like this.

Hello All,Commserve test failover was initiated and i have seen the final sync was successful but still the test failover was a failure with the below errors in the logsFailed to get SQL auth type from registry. Error [0]I found sqladmin_cv is being utilized to authenticate the same is failing. Hence do we need to reset the password and match the PACCESS on active CS and DR? or do we have any workaround or fix?Regards,Ananth

we have a very large Windows File Sahre Server. the amount of data hosted on these 2-node Windows File-over Cluster is around 300TB of unstructured data files where the users accessing it via windows folder shares SMB.the installed CommVault file system agents are good in backing up these large data set using daily incrementals, de duplication, compression, synthetic fulls. we aim at introducing a DR solution for this very large file share service over WAN-link to another data center in another country.is there a way to quickly identify the changed files & also the access files using commvault agent/features (maybe FOlderWatcher.db,...) so to replicate these files on a daily basis oven WAN to another server ? thanks,

Even Oracle Linux is not listed. On the other hand, if I go to the RHV system requirements, it states that OEL, RHEL 8.x, etc are supported as Linux proxies: https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/107801_red_hat_virtualization_system_requirements.html Since both solutions RHV and OLVM share the same virtualization framework, I believe that I could go with the RHV linux proxy requirements. Hi All, We are still new with the CV / AWS implementation and have a few questions on how CV handles tagging.AWS – Commvault Install – 11.28.36Issue: Our AWS/Applications support groups are working on multiple automation and has ran into an issue with tags that Commvault creates.  Some of the automation doesn’t know what to do with these tags that Commvault has left behind.Questions:What are these tags used for during backup? How long are these tags kept? Does Commvault delete these tags? If these tags are deleted by the automation, will there be any issues?Any thought on this is greatly appreciated. ThanksChuck

Hey All, we had an stupid error. We are using an Tape Library with 3 Drives. We have defined that commvault should do the cleaning of the drives and not the library. It works for 2 of 3 drives but 1 Drive is not cleaning automaticaly. The cleaning works manuall but not automaticly.  Offline Reason:Drive indicates that cleaning is required. For a regular library ensure that you have cleaning tapes in the cleaning pool of the library. Then right-click the drive and choose clean option. For standalone, insert the cleaning tape into the drive manually and wait for it to unload after cleaning is completed. We just upgraded to 2022E. We would like to know how to reduce false positives from our roaming terminal services profiles stored on our main file server, from our users that are using Microsoft Visual Studio Code… I’m sure Commvault, you know that one of the file extensions you are constantly alerting on is anything ending in “.code” - but the problem with this is that VScode saves temp files with .code extension in users’ appdata folders. We may be merging our O365 tenant into another tenant.  We currently backup Exchange Online, One Drive, SharePoint Online, and Teams.  We also content index items.If a merger occurs, can the existing Commvault (V11.24) O365 Apps be used for protection?  Will items need to be indexed again?

 This assumption correct?  - If you  to start CV encrypting data sent dedupe storage my guess would be that it a completely new set of dedupe data? Once encryption is turned on, the dedupe engine will see it as new data rather than encryption version of the old. While the unencrypted and encrypted data from the same servers remains in the same dedupe storage, storage usage could higher than usual.

Has anyone ever transferred their initial baseline backup between two sites using an available removable disk drive (Seeding a Deduplicated Storage Policy).   We are looking like may have to use this method to get a good AUX copy for some remote sites.  How did it go? did you have any issues?  Thanks for your input.

I’m looking for some guidance or documentation on what can be done with ZRS storage. Say we have the following availability zones in the region.Zone 1: Media Agents and Hot blob backing up local VM’s, files etc. no Aux copy.Zone 2: Standby Media Agent and conserve powered down. Commsere DR recovery done manually.  Zone1 failed so we power up MA and CS at Zone2 - perform manual DR backup set restore Next step - getting the ZRS storage mounted as primary. - any links, docs steps would be much appreciated.Thanks,Regards,Robert
