Hi community,Are there any benchmarking numbers on time taken to rebuild a replaced Hyperscale X node. Could be based on TB/hr or full rebuild per size/model. N24 with 16TB drives are most interesting for me. /P
Our storage policies are built as follows:primary (Storeonce)sync copy 2 (storeonce)sync copy 3 (storeonce)copy 4 (tape) Although there is an option to use “validate jobs” for each of the copies, I was wondering if we could use the aux copy job report to catch any issues with the integrity of the data as running a separate validation job would be an additional overhead for the backup infrastructure. One could reduce the amount of data to be validated by defining parameters for which data qualify for validationv OR use only the tape copy for job validation as the tape drives will perform well with reading data as the data will have to be read serially (we do have combine to streams set, wonder if this will affect validating jobs as jobs could be split across multiple media) or use auxcopy reports to by pass validating jobs. Because auxcopies will read all the chunks from the source copy and write them to the target copy and make sure the indexes are also intact. So isnt auxcopies like v
Hi guys, quick question: A few months ago I updated a customer environment to FR20. Recently we found that SCOM Alerting did not work anymore. After investigating we found that the GalaxySCOM.csv file contents looked complete different than it did before. After deleting that file, it got recreated and contents looked OK again. And SCOM Alerting was working again. Is this a known issue?
Ever since Command Center was equipped with client side caching enhancements we occasionally get customers on the phone who ask us if there is something wrong with the backup environment, because they are missing client computers in Command Center. Even while running the latest maintenance release for FR11.21. When we logon to Command Center as platform admins we do see the client computer(s) in question, so we just ask the customer to perform a CTRL-F5 hard refresh of the client-side cache. Checking the server side log (CVEntityCache) reveals no errors whatsoever. Now I hope to hear from other Vaulters if they have experienced this same issue and at what frequency. Reason for asking is that it "hard/impossible” to reproduce and if the customers knows the CTRL-F5 trick than next time they will most likely not call you anymore because they know the trick, but this of course does not fix the real issue.
Can you still run the new documentation that was introduced in FR21 offline?
Hello, did someone know or noticed that the information regarding how many streams can be handled from a media agent is gone on the documentation and can someone explain why and provide us the needed informations please ? https://documentation.commvault.com/11.22/expert/111985_hardware_specifications_for_deduplication_mode.html many thanks for your replys on this topic Cheers Philipp
Hello,I'm trying to backup a filesystem from a storage array, I noticed that the update of the subclient content using this syntax :subclient.content = ["My_storage_array:/My_Filesystem"]This syntax is not executed correctly, we can write anything in the content even if it is not present in the storage array, no validation is done by commvault. The output of the backup job fails and returns the following error:"File system scan failed - there is nothing to back up. A possible cause is that none of the subclient contents exist.".the code that i'm using to do my backup is bellow :commcell = Commcell('My_commcell', commcell_login ,commcell_password)client = commcell.clients.get('My_storage_array')agent = client.agents.get('My_Agent')backupset = agent.backupsets.get('My_Backupset')backupset.subclients.add("backup_tmp", storage_policy="My_storage_policy")subclient = backupset.subclients.get("backup_tmp")subclient.content = ["My_storage_array:/My_Filesystem"]subclient.enable_backup()job_backu
Hello When we work with a tape or any standard storage it s possible to validate a backup with this commandarchecker ‑tdsvhttps://www.ibmbigdatahub.com/blog/are-database-backups-safehttps://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSGU8G_12.1.0/com.ibm.bar.doc/ids_bar_101.htm But this does not work in front of CommVaultDoes someone know how to do the same with Commvault ? We do Intellisnap backups of some of our SQL databases. Once a week we do a integrity check on a snapshot also and it works fine.My question is what SQL versions can we use as proxies, does it have to be the exactly same SQL version or can it be a later version of SQL? I’ve not found that documented.BRHenke
We have an active program to discourage the use of the CommCell console. Reason is that it is not supported in combination with SAML and reseller mode and additionally we want to move everyone over to Command Center. This is a big change and people are pretty bad accepting change so it is not always easy and they use a lot of features…… I will not move towards a discussion around feature adoption in Command Center because I do not want a like-4-like move from the CommCell console to the Command Center but I do miss something related to the ability to perform data refreshes and/or scheduled restores to validate the ability to recover data.Customers need to proof that they are able to recover data for auditing purposes. Additionally they also use backup/restore to perform data refreshes for testing purposes and I currently have no idea how to accomplish this without the CommCell console. Only way I would know is to script it through the API but to me these use-cases are fundamentally rel
Has anyone been able to locate any data or has anyone attempted encrypting the CommServe database through SQL?
What would the filter look like when I want to skip all or a certain local zone in a Solaris global?I want to seperate the global from the local and backup the local zones separately.Global is called S123, local zone are called sz34 and sz56.
Team,Does anyone has configure backups for MongoDB instances with SSL configuration.I followed the documentation available at https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=133382.htm but this is not working. Regards,Mohit
I have changed the content of one subclient (new data paths). I used till now the sequence Synthetic Full & Incremental Backups. Do I need to perform the Full Backup (in order to cover the changes) before I switch again to the original sequence Synthetic Full & Incremental? I’m pleased about every tip! :-)
I’m getting the error message when making a backup of a Windows VM “Failed to enable changed block tracking [Change tracking cannot be enabled when snapshots are present]”I cannot delete this old snapshot because I need this version of the VM. Do you know any way to make backups of the VM without snapshot so I can use here “Changed Block Tracking” again?
Hi Community, This is my first post on the community. We are looking to backup SharePoint Online through Commvault, but I’m unsure how to go about this? Is it done through the Commcell itself or can it be done through the Web Console. I don’t see Solutions\Applications\Office365 to do it this way. if anyone has a step-by-step guide it would be greatly appreciated. Kind regardsTony
Hi,i need help with the plan details command API : /Plan/{planID}when running this command i can’t find the retention criteria for a specific plan in the response.please advice for any help on this commandkind regards,
We backup all of our O365 group mailboxes with the exchange mailbox agent and the dynamic content „All O365 group mailboxes“.We configured modern authentication. If a backup is running, then commvault will add the service account as a member to every O365 group without an owner or only disabled owners. This does not happen for groups with a valid owner. Can anyone explain, why this happens? In the job log I found only „GetO365GroupOwnerAny - Found 0 owners for groups“.
Hi Team, I have a HyperScale with 6 node cluster in on-prem for primary copy. For Secondary copy I need to move the data to Cloud (Archive Storage). My doubt is, when I am creating the Cloud Storage Pool, Do I select the existing (On-Prem) de-dup path (/ws/ddb/P_1/Copy/_21/Files/31) ( or) Do I need to create a dedicated the dedup path in the on-prem MAIf I need to option 2, then what is the recommended dedup partition value and reason behind that? And also share the your best practice for hybrid data protection, if any. Thanks,Manikandan
Is it possible to override default vCenter FREL for guest file restore in Command Center? It seems to be Commcell Console-only option. Also, it would be great if we could add FREL to a VM Group (same as we can add Access Nodes).Using single/default FREL in multiple-cluster vCenter can be technically impossible. SW: 11.22.9Thanks!
How can I just make backups to tape Perm, once a month? Can I set retention to 0 days?
Short version of the question: Does modifying a file in Commvault reset the 1-year retention? In our environment I have daily incremental that roll into a weekly synth full that roll into a monthly synth full. That monthly is kept for 1 year so at any given point I have 12 months of Monthly synth full jobs. Our retention is set to 1 year. “For 365 days Keep Monthly Full”So I create a file on 01/01/21 and the daily incremental job runs 01/02/21 and backs the file up.It then should be part of the weekly synth job and then part of the monthly synth full job for January, correct? That file then would be available (unless modified) until January 2022 when the next monthly synth full runs, Correct? The question that was asked is unless a file is modified will it expire after 1-year?If the file is modified on 9/1/21 then it would go through the daily incremental > weekly synth full > monthly synth full and retained until the 9/1/22 job ranI guess the short question is after 1-year any none
I was checking the documentation regarding Command Center and SAP For Oracle (brtools). This leads, for example, to this:https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=112509.htmThis redirects you to the SAP for Oracle documentation, fine: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.21/expert/21968_sap_on_oracle_restores.htmlBut...the SAP for Oracle documentation only mentions Java console & command line restores/database copy.Nothing is mentioned regarding the Command Center.Where is that information? I’m mainly looking for the status of the Oracle in case of a db copy. Should it be stopped/started/mounted/notmounted state, in case of restore (database copy) using the command center.
Hi , i try to perform a granular restore from a MS SQL i‘ve systematicallyt his error : “Granular restore is supported for blocklevel and snap backup. database selected doesn’t qualify for SQL granular restore i enable block-level backup ( Optimized for File system with large number of small files (Block-LevelBackup check box) in subclient.i try with VSS and not. i checked prerequisites and all is done.i missed soemthing ?thanks for help
Wanting to get a confirmation. I see that Vmware has a very specific requirement to backupvRealize Automation 8.0 described below;https://docs.vmware.com/en/vRealize-Suite/2019/vrealize-suite-2019-backup-and-restore-avamar/GUID-49FA9AB6-2A69-4F41-80E1-495447F4D6FC.htmlDoes Commvault has the ability to perform those tasks? I looked at the docs and could not find the details or info related to this. Thanks
