Hello! All good?My name is Filipe Asaph, work in StorageOne.I would like to ask you questions about Commvault's "Workflow" tool. I'm trying to send an email in Workflow, but it always gives an error. The error number is 19:857.Grateful, Filipe Asaph.
After right-clicking on the backup set, checking the data, and proceeding with deletion, no data is displayed. However, when right-clicking on the media storage and selecting "View Contents," the backup data still remains. The storage capacity also does not appear to have decreased, suggesting that the data has not actually been deleted. Are there any additional actions required?
Hello, We’re seeing slowness in CV when navigating the web interface. The “Restore Options” panel takes about 20 seconds just to open, and then 20 seconds each time I change an option. Is there any tuning options for the internal SQL instance, or something else we should be looking at? This doesn’t affect the timing once the actual restore/backup is kicked off, just navigation is horribly slow.Thank you - Chris
Hello,I have a Live sync environment - Is there a procedure for a service pack upgrade without downtime? the only option I can see is to upgrade while still having restore only option - https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/installing_platform_releases_on_commserve_livesync_setup.htmlIs there a procedure where I can also continue the backups? I can not stop the SQL log backup that are running every 10 minutesCan you please attach the link from the documentation? Best regards,
In below example at the end we are passing the instance name by checking it manually by login in to commcell console but our requirement is to fetch the database instance name automatically through a command..\qmodify.exe schedulepolicy -o add -scp <Schedule policy name> -c <Host Name> -a Q_MSSQL -b defaultBackupSet -s default -i <Instance name>We need your help in getting the right command to get the instance name.

Hi,What protocol do you recommend and how to configure worm lock on commvault 11.32. We want to use the data turbo protocol on the OceanProtect x3000. Does commvault support this?https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/supported_vendors_01.html
We are just beginning to migrate some local workloads to Azure. As part of this we are creating some new storage policies that will backup directly to some Azure Commvault media agents. Looking at the CommVault design guide, it recommends using a 512k dedupe size. This is to reduce the gets and puts to keep costs down. I have a few worries/concerns with this. One using 512k vs the old default of 128k will reduce my deduplication ratio and use more space. This is also cost. Second, I would like to AUX copy the Azure copy of the backup to my On-premise install. My On-premise DDBs are all 128k. If I use 512k in Azure and want to copy the data to on-premise, I will have to create new a DDB using 512k. This will again consume more space along with sending more data across our ExpressRoute. This again will be more cost Does anyone have any way/ideas on how to estimate the cost delta of using 512k vs 128k, as it relates to the initial storage, secondary storage, and egress
Hello everyone,I have a few questions regarding the use of VSA proxies. We have a medium-sized Commvault on-premise infrastructure with around 1,000 virtual machines and 100 TB of consumed storage. We are running on Nutanix AHV, and my colleague has deployed five Linux VSA proxies and five Windows VSA proxies. However, these proxies are sized as small or even extra small in some cases.I don’t really understand the need for so many VSA proxies. Is it really useful to have that many? And is there any benefit in having Windows VSA proxies? From my understanding, Linux proxies are better integrated with Nutanix AHV, right?I also noticed that during full backups, the proxies experience a very high load average, often exceeding 8 or 9, while they only have 2 vCPUs.What do you think about this setup?Would it be better to increase the resources on the Linux VSA proxies and remove the Windows ones? Thanks in advance for your insights!

Dear Commvault Team,We are planning to implement a replication solution that utilizes the VSS service on a Windows machine. At the same time, we would like to perform backups of SQL Server (MSSQL) and files using Commvault on the same machine.Could you please advise on how to achieve this setup without any issues or conflicts between Commvault and the replication solution?Thank you in advance for your assistance.Best regards,
After configuring Data Domain Boost Access library, there is still ethernet traffic through MA when backup. So what can I do to achieve this feature (The Commvault Data Domain Boost Access library type also offers “client direct to device” accelerated backups and restores. Clients can backup and restore directly to and from the Dell EMC® Data Domain® without having to send the data through a remote MediaAgent eliminating additional network transmission).CV:11.32DDVE:7.9
2FA FAQ:Demo VideoQ: What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)? A: 2FA is a security measure that requires users to provide two verification factors to gain access to an application, enhancing the security of user accounts.Q: How does 2FA work? A: When 2FA is enabled, users will need to provide their password and an additional verification method, such as a code sent to their mobile device or an authenticator app.Q: Why is Commvault enforcing 2FA for all users? A: We are enforcing 2FA to provide an additional layer of security for our customers. 2FA significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access and helps protect sensitive data.Q: When will Commvault enforce 2FA for all users? A: Commvault Cloud will enforce 2FA for all customers starting March 25, 2025.Q: Why is the message to set up 2FA showing up? A: Commvault is prompting all customers to enable 2FA on their own during this period. If 2FA is not set up by March 25, 2025, enforcement will begin from the Commvault side.Q: As an
Hello Community,Seems like restoring a site collection through the offline mining option doesn't support if you check the SharePoint server requirements for Commvault offline mining; the 'Microsoft SharePoint Server Subscription Edition' isn't listed. https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/essential/offline_mining_for_sharepoint_server.htmlif not support, what’s the method for restoring a site collection for the on-prem 'Microsoft SharePoint Server Subscription Edition' version? thanks
Hello, we set up a new site using VMware and Netapp. We set up 3 jobs under the storage policy. Snapshot, for one week > Copy to vault x months > each month copy to tape. The snapshots and copy to vault appear to be working fine. I see all successful backup jobs on both parts of the policy. However, the tape copy for monthly to tape is just stuck at “To be Copied”. Its been stuck like this since the end of last month which was a couple days ago. There are no warnings or errors. Any idea what may be causing this?
Does anyone have in their Windows Application Event Log of your Media Agent Server any event id’s 1001 that look like this:Fault bucket 2119584666510853566, type 5Event Name: RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64Response: Not availableCab Id: 0Problem signature:P1: CVODS.exeP2: 11.280.1000.1507P3: 10.0.17763.2.0.0On mine, the event name and the exe changes but does repeat. Sometimes it’s VSBK.exe or a random Windows exe.I used to have a ton of these.Present day it’s much less. Last year the Application Event log was littered with these and the Media Agent Server became unusable. Support was at a loss. It might be easy to say there was a hardware issue. This server was in service from 2019 - 2024 and operated 24x7 without issue.Since that terrible week last year the MA was migrated to a different server to get backups going again. These app crashes in the Application Event log still occur on the new server, but they are few and isn’t effecting backups anymore. When I say migrated, I moved the DDB, moved m
I have clients that I was previously backing up as a FSA, I released the FSA license and starting backing them up as VM’s. The software version on client backing up as VM with FSA agent released shows missing latest feature releaseI would like to continue backing them up as VM’s, I just don't want them to show up on the Software Version report as missing the latest feature release. What are my options ?
Hello, I am seeing an error where two VMs out of 20 are failing to backup with error code: "Failed to read disk over NBD transport mode. Ensure the access node can communicate with the host ESX server."There are two esx servers, windows / vcenter / netapp environment using streaming backups. There are other servers on the same esx server that are backing up fine, its just two that are failing and they were working at some point but have started to fail with this error code. Some things I checked:Ping test, problem servers to the ESX, MA, Netapp, Commserve all ok Checked Advanced Options on Subclient > Access Node ESX Server / Vcenter and host is ok Transport Mode for VMware is set to AutoNot sure what else I can check?
we are new to O365 and metallic saas and would like to know more about it. what is the expected RPO for metallic for O365 exchange workload? and what are your actual RPO observed in your environments/tenants? thank you!
Hi Team,We purchased a Huawei Dorado 18000 v6 device onsite to use in Commvault backups. We want to configure and define this device as a Nas Library, but some questions came up to my mind.- Are there any Best Practices to follow when defining a NAS Library to Commvault?- What should we determine as Block Size on the storage side?- Would it be more logical to set a quota when creating a NAS share on the storage side or to use the "Do not Consume more than" option on Commvault?- Would it be more efficient to create a library with many NAS shares, for example 5*10TB=50TB or 1*50TB=50TB?- If I am going to use 3 Media Agents, would it be more logical to create a DDB with 3 partitions and place each partition in the relevant MA? Best Regards.

We have a 6 node HPE Apollo 4200 Gen10 reference architecture cluster that we need to migrate In place from a HyperScale X 2.x cluster to a HyperScale X 3.x cluster. We are currently running at Commvault version 11.32.80.Is it better to upgrade to the latest release of 11.32 or upgrade to the latest release of 11.36 before performing this migration ? Each node has 24 18TB drives. How long will this migration take ?Can backups/restores still run against this cluster while the migration is in progress ?Should the migration process be started from the iLO remote console ?The root password on all 6 nodes are different is this ok ?The migration script says it will ask for “Root password of existing cluster:” Is this the root password of the server we are running the migration script from ? Thanks
i tried a lot to have live session to have training to know how to configure back up schedule on servers but no reply from them a lot of tickets and messages and no benefit and the customer care closed my calls when describe my issue!
