In the past I believe (after upgrading the commvault environment, commserve/media agents, etc) a standalone java console would prompt “download and install updates?” and then the user would click “yes” and it would upgrade itself. I’m on 11.24 and my standalone consoles are just throwing up a pop up saying basically ‘the console is behind. upgrade your console’. The console still runs after hitting “ok”, but its rather annoying.In the past (if a console would not auto update when launched) I would have to manually build a package with an installer tool, copy it to the client machine, and then run the upgrade.Is there a way for users to “upgrade the console themselves” through the Java UI ( or a setting that will cause the console to auto upgrade if needed?) without having to build an installer/upgrade package and send it to them?

Hello all!In our environment, we have created a temporary copies within our few storage policies - (call them copy 6 and 7). Those were tape copies. We have keep some backup there for 2 months, but it is no longed needed. We do not need those copies within those storage policies any more. But for now, even if they are no longer any backup retained on this 6-7 copy, we do have a lot of “Big Data Apps” jobs retained on those copies.We would like to delete those copies because it interferes with our “workflow” which picks jobs for copies and it's keeping to mark them to copy for 6-7 copy. (even if copy is disabled) So my question is - what exactly this Big Data Apps is? It is some kind of Index, am I correct? If those “Big Data Apps” are stored on copies 6-7 are there any dependencies for other copies, other jobs keep in other/same storage policies?Can we just delete copy 6-7 from our storage policies even if they are still those Big Data Apps stored on it, and it won't affect the rest of

Hello team, We have VM backups configured for GCP machines in our environment. Now we have the below scenario as we need to update custom hostname for the machines through terraform which needs deletion and recreation of VM. The approach we followed is as below.1. Take FS backup of the machine2. Delete and recreate the machine with custom hostname3. Have the FS backup restored to the newly created machine so that we have the system back to the state it was before the deletion.While trying this approach we are encountering many issues like losing connectivity to the machine, data which says restored on the console but not visible at the OS level and so on. We had raised a support case as well and got an update that we cannot do a full "/" restore as this will overwrite the kernel OS file which will crash the system during the restore phase and OS level files/directory you should not overwrite on a running machine (/usr /etc /lib /root /boot etc) Could someone please let us know what wou
I’ve been asked to perform a test restore of a production virtual server. Obviously we can’t have two servers with the same name and IP address running at the same time. Does CommVault have any documentation on how to restore a virtual server (VMware in this case), then rename and re-IP the server so it can be started up?I’ve been a client for more than 10 years and still use the Java GUI so directions using that interface would be appreciated.Ken

We are running a POC for seeding an AWS S3 bucket which will act as DASH target. For the seeding of data, we are using the AWS Snowball device. We have two goals in POC,Seed the OnPrem backup data to AWS S3 using Snowball device and ship it to AWS. Once seeded to S3 bucket, test restores from S3 and also validate the next DASH job to S3 only transfers unique data after deduping. Copy the DASH data from S3 to Snowball Device, ship the device to On-Prem. Perform restores from the Snowball device.We have successfully completed the first part of the POC and need to initiate the second phase. But before shipping the snowball device to AWS, we ran a data verification job on the Snowball to confirm all the seeded DASH jobs are in readable state. The job failed since Commvault was unable to read any data from the Snowball device, and we were getting read errors. Hello, In our environment we provide storage target for RMAN backups but leave actual backup administration in the hands of Oracle admins. Clients are setup in CommVault with a storage policy with a retention of 30 days/1cycle and no schedule. Scheduling is handled by the DBA’s.On certain databases we notice that jobs age out earlier than 30 days and DBA’s get notified in RMAN that the backups fail on the “DELETE OBSOLETE” step. We’ve previously contacted support about this and have the following enabled in CommVault: Disable RMAN External Pruning set at commserve/media management level Disable RMAN crosscheckAgain, this seems to only effect particular databases, not every database on a host has this issue. I’m not sure what else we could possibly look into?

Hi Team, We have a very large, Infinite retention Storage Policy, associated to Storage Pool “Pool1”.It has grown to the point, that we will soon be creating another Storage Pool and Storage Policy. Let’s call these Pool2. All clients from Pool1 will be migrated to Pool2, so Pool1 will stop receiving any fresh data, since Pool2 will start receiving it all. The question I have is around the massive, leftover DDB’s from Pool 1. They are 2 x 1.8 TB and are hosted on the two Media Agents associated with Pool1. Since Pool1 will stop receiving data, I am keen to decommission the Pool1 Media Agents - noting that the Secondary-copy Cloud-based backup data can be accessed from a number of Media Agents and so it does not necessarily have to be the Pool1 Media Agents. It can be any Media Agents, provided they are mapped to the relevant Cloud Library Mount Points. So the questions I have are :- 1 - What do we do with these large, legacy DDB’s? HI Team,Is there any API or report using which we can monitor individual library mount paths ?CV alerts are for complete library but i need to configure an alert specific to mount paths( coming from different media agents or servers ) part of same disk library. We receive below alerts when one or few of the mount paths of library met reserved space .Failure Reason: Insufficient disk space. Available mount paths are not enabled for write or have met reserved space limit. Enable/add more mount paths or add more disk space to existing mount paths. Please check mount paths on the library Need to configure alerts on mount path level so that we can disable the mount paths in advance .Regards, Mohit

Some of the automation doesn’t know what to do with these tags that Commvault has left behind.Questions:What are these tags used for during backup? How long are these tags kept? HI I have 12 Different Storage Policies writing ‘1st Full of the Month’ backups (via Selective Copy) to the same Storage Pool Copy 1st full of the Months (depending upon (clients/subclients) are typically started and finish within the first 15 days of the month.All subclients run incrementals on a daily basisAt the moment I’m using the ‘Aux every 30 minutes’ scheduleAnd the the VT criteria ‘ Last write older than 5 Days A few QuestionsGiven the setup above, the BigData Index backups run as a full every day on many clients and they get written to Tape every day (ie they over ride the ‘1st Full of the Month’ to tape rule, and copy themselves to tape every day (as the Aux copy is running every 30 mins) , and as such the Tape never reaches a point where no writes have occurred for 5 Days I could use Associations on the Aux Copy to filter them out (have done this on other projects, it just tends to get messy after a while) Would I be better off setting a fixed ‘once per month’ schedule

Hi All, We are not able to access Commcell Console via SSO from other Domain. We re getting Database error while trying to access Commcell console. From EVMgrs Logs we are getting 0xc000019B error.
