Good afternoon I just received this new Article in my mailbox.https://support.commvault.com/Article/Details/82504 According to this article I can now request a Compliance Lock on the support portal.Previously, a document needed to be filled in by the customer and signed/approved prior to the codes being supplied.From what I see, this new process has removed the requirement for customer approval and has given the full authority to one individual with Maintenance Advantage access.Is there any comment on what I’m understanding? I don’t have a test environment to understand how this new process works and it’s less/more secure than the previous procedure. Thanks,Mauro

Hello all!In our environment, we have created a temporary copies within our few storage policies - (call them copy 6 and 7). Those were tape copies. We have keep some backup there for 2 months, but it is no longed needed. We do not need those copies within those storage policies any more. But for now, even if they are no longer any backup retained on this 6-7 copy, we do have a lot of “Big Data Apps” jobs retained on those copies.We would like to delete those copies because it interferes with our “workflow” which picks jobs for copies and it's keeping to mark them to copy for 6-7 copy. (even if copy is disabled) So my question is - what exactly this Big Data Apps is? It is some kind of Index, am I correct? If those “Big Data Apps” are stored on copies 6-7 are there any dependencies for other copies, other jobs keep in other/same storage policies?Can we just delete copy 6-7 from our storage policies even if they are still those Big Data Apps stored on it, and it won't affect the rest of
I’ve been asked to perform a test restore of a production virtual server. Obviously we can’t have two servers with the same name and IP address running at the same time. Does CommVault have any documentation on how to restore a virtual server (VMware in this case), then rename and re-IP the server so it can be started up?I’ve been a client for more than 10 years and still use the Java GUI so directions using that interface would be appreciated.Ken

Considering that 1-touch backup and backup networks are pretty common things, I’m surprised at the issue I’m having trying to do a 1-touch recovery over a backup network.Whether I’m using a ReaR based recovery or the 1-touch ISO, the restore client that fires up doesn’t seem to get the backup network configuration and the restore is attempted over the primary interfaces. The restore client tries to talk to the MA over DNS IP and vice versa. Considering we have backup networks, that data path is firewalled.I’ve managed to make it work, but it is a PITA as I have to add to the hosts file of the client the name of every MA and the matching backup interface IP, and I have to add the restore client backup IP and hostname to the /etc/hosts of every MA.So how do others do 1-touch recovery and backup networks? I can’t be the first person to have encountered this.

I am facing a problem with capacity licence.I have exceeded 110% while creating backup for end of year export.But we have done housekeeping after that, and now we are about 92%, please have a look:In web console, I also can see this chart:but still I get a warning on console:And it forces me to reset it every 96h… The system is running at this 92% consumption for about 5 days. Today i have found this in web console in other place… I have contacted Commvault and they have sent me “A loan key”. So as far as I understand the “loan” key is used to temporarily extend capacity license, but it seems that not a problem because we are below 100% right now. I have excluded few clients from backup (disabled backup activity), but those clients do have already performed backups for UAL export.So for now I am confused… How this Capacity License is Calculated? Good Day,Commvaut Intellisnap is currently using FlashCopy.This "Snap" feature is taking a clone of the volume so the scource volume is cloned at 100% of Space Usage on the array. Since some time there is a new ( i call it new ) feature implemented which is taking SNAPSHOTS. This will take only track of the changed bocks and not a full CLONE/COPY of the volume. "Spectrum Virtualize 8.5.1 added a new feature called Volume Groups Snapshots. This is a radically simpler method of taking snapshots than the current implementation of FlashCopy." Is there a impementation ongoing by commvault to utilize this much more nice feature or any ETA on this? thanks

Hello!Consider the following scenario:Oracle CDB DB named CDB01.Oracle PDB DB named PDB01Oracle PDB DB named PDB02Oracle PDB DB named PDB03 Customer wants to backup PDB01 only once and keep it for 5 years. So, subclient is created pointing to PDB01 only. Full Backup is made, including logs. Consider January 1st as the backup date. PDB02 and 03 need to be backed up daily. Then, a subclient is created, including PDBs 02, 03, CDB&ROOT and PDB&SEED (excluding PDB01). That sublcient is backed up with daily fulls. With 1 day retentions. I noticed that the backups for CDB01 (excluding PDB01) which are daily made, with 1 day retention are not getting pruned. Day retention and forecast report states that the CDB01 jobs are required (LOG_ RULE) by the PDB01 job (which previously ran only once and will be kept for 5 years). Hello, We have some data/volumes/svm backed up from Netapp using NDMP protocol. Data was baked up when CS was v11 FR24. Meanwhile the data was migrated to a new Dell Unity NAS device. We have in backup as well the "new” migrated data using NDMP protocol (CS v11 FR28/2022e), while the old SVM on Netapp was decommissioned. I need to restore cross-platform some files/folders from NDMP Netapp backed up v11FR24 into NDMP Dell Unity backed up now via v11FR28. The idea is i do not have the option to select as destination any Dell Unity device (so nothing in the drop down menu as an option for Destination where to restore, only some bunch of unix/windows servers). Is this type of restore supported? i remember in the past that i did it (Netapp to dell, but fr24 to fr24), not so sure though and i might be wrong. Any thought/hint on this it will be highly appreciated! Thank you!
