Hi,I want to set a storage policy (a plan actually) for Oracle backups. The only thing is customer wants to just provide storage target for RMAN backups but leave actual backup administration in hands of Oracle admins. Oracle team won’t have access to Commvault console, so they need to manage backups with the only tool they know and got which is RMAN. Everything is set, we got plan in place, activity on default and archivelog subclients is disabled, so Commvault won’t run any backups (a plan without scheduler would be nice!), we did some tests and backups work like a charm and the only missing part is data aging. For this setup to work nicely and to give Oracle team what’s theirs I also need to allow them to prune old backups using RMAN so I could set infinite retention on Commvault side (currently it’s 14 days). I’ve set DisableRMANPruning to 0 on Commserve computer and crossed my fingers but unfortunately it is not enough. After running a couple of backups using RMAN command line we

Hello Guys, I have two oracle linux servers where i already have licenses to make the backups of oracle bases.I installed the File System functionality to make file backups, however when creating and trying to start a job the following error is presented:“License is not consumed by agent [Linux File System] on client [srv-oracle01].”I've already checked the license summary and don't have any license attention alerts.

Im looking at the Reports | Commcell | Health on the webconsole and I see the Health report gives me a 1 Critical notification.  When I click on the Critical notification its giving me the following:  So when I saw that I ran the “DBMaintenance.exe -recommended” command from the BASE directory  I figured I would see a difference in the Date etc on the Report…  Not sure how the Report is getting its info or date.  Still consider myself a entry level commvault user.BTW we are on commvault 11.24.38.Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. ThanksBC  

Hi Commvault People, An interesting issue which cropped up when reviewing our environment recently. Back in the V9 days, Commvault used to provide a shedload of recommended filters, such as **.TMP and all that kind of thing. Subsequently that was added to, based on the customer requirements, such as mdf, ldf for those of us that are using SQL agents. And all of these filters were added into the Global Filters or Cell Level etc.However …. i noticed that in V11, that Commvault will exclude files from backup based on a registry key in windows which has a pre-assembled list of items to be excluded. https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/127043_default_backup_filters_for_windows.html So you don’t have now exclude those old-school V9 filters (although keep your pesonliased, site-configurables obviously). Anywayz … just thought I’d throw it out there, coz for those of us who have upgraded over the years you may not have been aware. Thanks 

Hi, we imported Data from the Mailbox Classic Agent to the newer Mailbox Agent. Now we want to delete the old Client in Commvault. Is this possible or do we lose all the data from the old Agent? Kind Regards Florian 

Morning,We’ve recently updated from 11.24.34 to 11.24.52, and are receiving “Unable to start SnapDiff V2 session” events.  I see in the patchnotes for 11.24.49 that snapdiff will now attempt v2 before falling back to v1.  Our infrastructure is setup for Snapdiff v1, is there a global setting I can modify to stop the commserve attempting to use SnapDiff v2?  I was unable to find anything with a search of the documentation.Thanks.

hi, we have this error on one of our Linux server:clBackupChild...log: ClBackupFile::ReadAndSendFileData(4073) - read(<filepath>) failed error [5]It looks like the filesystem has some issues. The problem is: commvault does not backup the rest of the files, as it get stuck. We have to commit the job.Backup pending: failed to close Metadata file for error [-1]Could not back up [0] folders and [1] files.Is there an option to continue on (a specific) error for one client? Found this advanced option: backupDoNotReportFileError but not sure if this is the right one and also not sure what value is the right for this option.

I know this is a fairly old thread and can see that 10 and 11 is supported for MA, however I have a customer wanting to set up a FREL with Debian and BOL states only 9 is compatible, is there an update for this also where 10 and 11 will work?

Good afternoon folks,We currently have our CV environment installed on-premise and we are looking to test our backups by restoring our VMs (VMWare) into an isolated VPC in AWS which is working great.Whilst attempting to restore SQL to this isolated environment I have noticed it only gives me the option to restore to one of our existing SQL servers, I assume it is looking for those clients that have the CV agent installed.I am wondering what my options are for restoring to this isolated AWS VPC - or if this is not possible at all.

Hi all, A customer has recently brought this to our attention that within their environment there is an outdated version of the jQuery being utilised via their WebConsole. They are currently running 11.20.85 and the version of jQuery they are still using is 2.1.3 which has known vulnerabilities. I am aware of there being another topic open for a similar, if not same, issue.https://community.commvault.com/topic/show?tid=988&fid=2However, this does not look to have a promising resolve, is there a resolve to mitigate these vulnerabilities or force the webconsole to utilise a more updated version of the jQuery?  Kind regards, Jonathan

Hi all,This may be obvious to a more seasoned linux user but I had a task recently to apply a syslog filter file to many servers.  After testing the filter file successfully, I opted to use Commvault to deploy the filter file to the destination servers using the same path (which worked fine).I included the command below to restart the rsyslog service after the restore in the Advanced > Pre/Post > Post Recovery Command and I checked the “Use local system account” option to run as root.systemctl restart rsyslog.serviceI received the error below:Unable to run [systemctl] on the client. Hello All, From few days we are struggling with restore AKS from our environment. Commvault  backup working without any issue. We tried to restore AKS by using Linux Node and Windows Node. Every time we received the same issue. Error is: Error Code: [91:145]Description: Unable to write data to the Virtual Disk [/opt/commvault/iDataAgent/jobResults/CV_JobResults/iDataAgent/VirtualServerAgent/Restore/201136/solace-dev`HelmChart`solace-dev`d91d2911-dfc4-4c32-a6ed-2e1bd553bac6/VMConfig.cvf]. Please ensure that the proxy is able to communicate with the virtual machine host and that there is sufficient disk space available. Hello Commvault Community, We encountered a problem with editing the file placed on Edge Drive. After clicking "Edit", the following message is displayed (no Edge Drive Web Edit) - "Edge Drive Web Edite is not running. Download the new latest version of Edge Drive Web Edit. If you already have the latest version, make sure that the tool is running and you are logged in. " Below the message there is a link to download the latest version of the tool.After clicking download, the following message is displayed - "We could not find what you are looking for". We figured out why this is so. The culprits here are linux and webconsola installed on this server, because it does not have the cvwebedit_x86.msi and cvwebedit_x64.msi installers in its files. In the Commvault files on Windows I found the previously mentioned MSI files and then installed the appropriate version on the workstation. In Edge Drive Web Edit, I logged into my commvault account and started webconsole.However, that didn't hel
