Hey All, I`m looking to see if a member of the commvault team / or community has noticed changes with their storage policies when upgrading from 11.36 to 11.40.The "Global_..." were created after the upgrade and I cant fully understand the reason. Has anyone seen anything similar to this before? Another behavior I noticed is around non dedup copies like snapshot copies. Within 11.36 during the Snap Copy creation, you could simple point to a media agent and create the copy, but since the 11.40 you must select a storage pool. Not quite sure the thought behind this, I can create a non dedup pool and create the copy but Im really just trying to understand the logic and why do we need so many pools.Similarly, all my current snapshot copies were Auto Associated to these Global copies from the screenshot. Is there a documentation stating the creation of these "Global" policies when upgrading to FR11.40?Thank you in advance.

Hello! Could you please answer the following question. For the cloud storage Commvault has published list of S3-Compatible Object Storage Vendors: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.40/software/supported_s3_compatible_object_storage_vendors.html How do you think are there any risks to use some S3 vendors not mentioned in the list? May be technical issues? Or we will lose support? For example, Leviia (https://www.leviia.com/en/object-storage/) states that it is “Compatible with the S3 API and major tools like Veeam, Acronis, Bacula, Commvault, Atempo, Cyberduck, QNAP, Synology, and more.  But it is not in the Commvault supported vendor list. Please share your opinion. Thank you in advance!

Dear Commvault Support Team,We require your assistance with the AWS EC2 Zabbix VM backup and cross-hypervisor restoration to our on-premises VMware environment.Environment Details: Source platform: aws ec2 instance Destination Platform: On-premises VMware Commvault Version: 11.40 Access Node: onpreme server Issue Description: We successfully configured the AWS hypervisor in our on-premises Commvault environment and verified that the AWS Na region VMs were discovered and browsable. We initiated a manual VM Admin Job (Snap Backup) for the VM, which completed successfully. We attempted to restore the backed-up AWS EC2 instance to our on-premises VMware environment. However, the restoration failed with the following error: Error Code: 91:364Error Message: Snap restores are not supported for conversionProcess: vsrst We reviewed the Commvault documentation for converting Amazon EC2 instances to VMware, which states that conversion is supported from streaming backups, secondary copi

Hi everyone,First of all, I have to say that Threat Scan in 11.44+ feels like a completely different product compared to 11.40. The improvements are significant, and the addition of VM workloads to the Threat Scan capabilities is a really nice enhancement. While going through the 11.44 documentation, I came across the following:“For Windows VM workloads, set up a Windows Threat Scan server.”“For Linux VM workloads, set up a Linux Threat Scan server.”Commvault Threat Scan Requirements My question is regarding whether this OS-specific requirement applies only to VM workloads, or also to File System workloads. For example, if an environment contains both Windows and Linux File System workloads, can we use a Windows Threat Scan server to scan both, or would we need separate Windows and Linux Threat Scan servers? In other words, is the Windows/Linux Threat Scan server distinction specifically related to the way VM disks/filesystems are mounted and accessed during VM Threat Scan, or does the s

Hi everyone,While testing with available integration options in the ExaGrid interface, I noticed that Commvault supports only SMB / NFS, whereas Veeam offers the ExaGrid Data Mover and Veritas NetBackup supports OST.Why does Commvault not offer a comparable native integration for ExaGrid? Does relying on SMB / NFS introduce any performance limitations or reduced functionality compared to these dedicated integrations?I would appreciate some technical clarification on whether this is an architectural choice or a limitation of the current integration.Best regards,Nikos

Hello team,Could you please provide some information regarding the ServiceNow and Zscaler backups? The details were visible on the portal until a few days ago, but they are no longer appearing. When can we expect backup availability for both? Thanks.

Hi All, i found some informations regarding gateway but my enviroment was not available.  So we are using network gateway for customer agent based backup. Actually when we are installing an agent like sql or active directory we are putting the gateway ip adress during the installation into the commserve field. So the client is regstored to the gateway. Thats fine for now. Actually we are in the situation to add more gateway servers because the enviroment is growing up.  We are working with groups and firewall rules over the groups. No we have 2 Questions: What happend with the traffic if we add an second gateway into the group ?Is commvault managening the rounting over both automaticly ? If yes wich rules are used to put the traffic over node 1 instead of node 2 ? How is commvault acting with restores over the gateway ? as written before we registerd all clients over the first gateway. If we now implemnt a second or third one and the first one is crashed is the client communication sti

I recently configured a new Storage Pool that uses AWS Glacier Instant Retrieval as the storage target, and noticed today that it has been automatically included in the DDB Verification schedules.Documentation suggests that cloud-based storage libraries should not be automatically included in the DDB Verification schedules. Has there been a change to this behaviour? Does this happen for anyone else?

Hello Team, I am looking for an API that lists the clients within a Client Computer Group, any one has any idea ? Best Regards.

Looking to find out if CV can protect MS Fabric, as an app like it would protect EXO, SPO, OneDrive, Teams, etc or if it has to do things differently , or not at all?

Hi all. I’m planning to upgrade from 11.32 to 11.40/11.42.Many of my agents (Oracle, MSSQL, file) and virtual machines are old installations and are still running index version 1. What will happen when I upgrade to 11.40/11.42, will they continue to use index version 1 or will they be auto “upgraded” to index version 2, or is this still a manual process so I can upgrade the index when I find fit? Cheers-Anders

Hi. our setup Broadcom VCF9.1.1 cluster 10 hosts, one VSA per hosts. VSAN ESA. 2 VDS, one for VSAN the other for the rest including backup traffic. We are migrating from a standard VMware 8 cluster to VCF9.1.1Now we are starting to have issue in VCF9.1.1. VMK0 is crashing during backups. We a had to limit the number streams per CPU for the VSA from 10 to 3 to keep everything under control. Any tips?

all,I am configuring M365 mailbox backups.I have created an Office 365 Plan and set “Retain deleted items for 2555 days”I then created a Backup Plan with Primary to Disk for 365 days and synchronous AUX to Tape for 2555.Am I correct in saying that all mailbox backups from now with be Incremental and it ignores the Backup Plan retention and keeps all mail for 2555 days on Disk & Tape ! Also, is there a way to run a once off Full backup ? Currently on 11.36 Thanks

Hi everyone,With the current cybersecurity landscape, especially in the AI era where vulnerabilities and security threats are evolving rapidly, I’m interested to see how frequently other Commvault admins are updating their environments, particularly given the increasing number of security vulnerabilities and CVEs affecting software in general and Commvault. (https://documentation.commvault.com/securityadvisories/)So, how frequently noways do you normally perform a Maintenance Release update in your  customer-managed / self-hosted environments? In some cases, especially with complex Commvault environments involving multiple sites and components, a Maintenance Release upgrade can take several hours to complete and requires careful planning. Because of this, performing an update every month may not always be practical. It would be interesting to see what update frequency everyone is currently following. Best regards,Nikos

Hi Commvault Team,We have configured NetApp NAS/NDMP backups in our Commvault environment. The same NetApp filer also contains Commvault Disk Library mount paths. We do not want these Commvault Disk Library volumes/directories to be included in the NDMP backup. We added the Disk Library path under:NDMP Subclient → Properties → Filters → Exclude these files/folders/patternsHowever, the Disk Library volume/path is still being included in the NDMP backup. How to avoid the disk library mount path exclusions.

Hello,We are currently investigating whether Commvault SQL Server Agent supports connecting to Microsoft SQL Server using TLS with TDS 8.0 and Strict Encryption. Our environment is configured according to Microsoft's guidance for SQL Server strict encryption:SQL Server is configured with a valid trusted certificate. TDS 8.0 is enabled. Strict Encryption is enabled. Connections using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) work successfully. Connections using PowerShell also work successfully.Reference: Connect to SQL Server with strict encryptionWhat we would like to know is:Does Commvault SQL Server Agent support connections using TDS 8.0? Does Commvault support Strict Encryption in the same way as SSMS and modern Microsoft SQL drivers? Which SQL client/driver version is used by Commvault when connecting to protected SQL Server instances? Is there any Commvault-specific configuration required to enable encrypted SQL Agent connections? Has anyone successfully protected SQL Servers that are
