Hi,We have a MSP customer that is backing up Virtual Machines for several customers using VMWare vCloud Director.Currently they are using the automatically created “Smart Client Group”, which is created whenever a new company is created to automatically assign Virtual Machines to these companies. In this Smart Client Group, they add a rule to include all Virtual Machines in a specific subclient that was created for this company under the vCloud Director client.This works “ok”, but it’s making this rather complex and they would like to know if it’s possible to assign a subclient/VM group to a company directly, so all new Virtual Machines that are discovered in this subclient/VM group are automatically assigned to that company. (Without the use of these Smart Client Groups)I have gone through the documentation website, but haven’t found anything specific. Does anybody else have experience with this?Jeremy 

Hi,We are having an issue with a VSA Proxy Running on RHEL 8.2. (11.21.24)When we start a VM backup, the VSDiscovery phase seems to go well and complete, however the VSBackup phase hangs with error “The control process for the previous phase is still running. PID [343440]”That PID corresponds to the previous discovery phase, so it looks like that phase wasn’t closed properly even though in the logs we can see it completes it correctly.What we do observe in the VSDiscovery log is the Mono process starting a cleanup right after the VSDiscovery process ends, and we think that is what is causing our issues: VSDiscovery.log..343440 53d90 04/07 14:17:46 3526286 BKP CALLED COMPLETE (PHASE Status::SUCCESS), 3526286. Because of a bug, my cloud storage hit 100% full and not all year-end backups were replicated to the cloud.  I’ve worked with CommVault support and now have 50% free space.  Even though the Aux Copy job has run several times, there are still year-end backups that haven’t replicated to cloud storage.  How do I get CommVault to copy the missing backups?Ken

Hi,We are planning to upgrade  commserve os from windows server STD 2008 R2 to Windows server STD 2012 R2., we need a clarity on belowhow many cores we shall allocate in new server for Windows Os and SQL serverexisting infra allocated with windows 2008 R2 std with SQL 2008 R2 Ent  edition ( Vcpu 12 and RAM 32 GB )please get back to us with recommendation.

I need to create a Monthly LSR for a specific customer but cannot see the options in the LSR config to specify the Client Computer Groups for the customer required.Any help / advise would be greatly appreciated.Thanks

Hey guys,I’ve recently upgraded my Commvault comserve and media agent and now im in the part of updating all the agents.Some of the agents I was able to schedule upgrade through the commcell console but some have the Update Status as ‘Not Applicable’.(image attached) What does that mean?Do I need to go over these machines and manually install the agent?Thanks!

Hi,I am using commvault tool first time and i have added my window machine in commcell, now i am going to install agent on that machine but getting the below error, Failed to install Base Package. Failed to access remote registry. I am using window 10 OS there is no AD this system on workgroup network and machine was on azure portal.username is: workgroup\commvault for more information please find the screenshotAlso how i can download agent software from commcell and install manually on window and Linux machine   

I have five subscription in one Azure region, plan to deploy MA & VSA in each subscription, plan to deploy one Commvault server in the region. Any logic to select subscription for Commvault server? for example, the Commvault server should be in the subscription which  request more backup demand, or ping result is less than 200ms, etc.

Hello,according to : Installing a Windows Custom Package Configured as a Self-Extracting Executable File (commvault.com) It should be possible to use the /play parameter with the selfextracting CustomPackage.exeNote: If you want to use a custom answer file during the installation, add the argument /play install.xml to the above command, where install.xml is the name of the custom answer file in the custom packageThis doesn’t work for me. It is simply ignored and the installation is playing the install.xml included in the package.exe.Any idea, how to update the install.xml contained in the .exe or add some parameters, like the gateway to be used during client registration, from the commandline ?Can you tell me how to get an alternate / addiional install.xml into the package.exe ? (if this is required here)Simply using 7zip is not working für me here.I’m currently using V11.25.14The only other option I see is to either create selfextracting packages for every possible target environment

Hi Community, I’m facing an issue, and maybe some of you already experienced it. We had a client associated to a storage policy, which was working fine, we added a new MA and created a storage policy with this new MA. After that, we wanted to associate the client to the newly created storage policy in order to use the new MA. After changing the storage policy, we faced an issue with backups, indexing wasn’t working properly, which we fixed by changing the index server of the backupset of the client from the old MA to the new one, and now we are facing an issue where we cannot restore anymore (Below a screenshot).Please note that we restarted all services for all Commserve, old MA, new MA.In the DATA RECOVERY JOBS summary, we have a CommServe Management jobs with the storage policy index as a client, stating that there is no communication between the 2 MA. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Regards.

The instance is running under user domain\x and the backup is running under domain\y user accounts.  In the reports we get the message:   Full access permissions not found for User [papstar\ora-home] on registry [SOFTWARE\CommVault Systems\Galaxy\Instance001]]. Please address these access rights.  Is it correct that the user which runs the instance needs rights on this path ?

I am a little unsure about how synthetic consolidation works.If you run only a synthetic backup on a given day and no other backups, will that synthetic backup contain data from the same day?Or does it have to have an incremental backup running just before in order to capture data from the same day?BRSteeler

hi, i was working with a customer who has long running synthetic fulls.which disrupts the Incremental backup schedule. so we entered as we used to normally do for indexing V2 clients the bjMAllowIncrWithSynthFull add setting.but it does not seem to work, and i am not able to find a reference to the setting in the latest documentation.is this still available?  kind regards, Thos Gieskes.
