Trying to figure out why my Java gui display of the job controller is showing something like:Username: John.Smith (67)then listing out what I guess are all of the jobs belonging to that user.How can I get rid of that “username: John.Smith (67)” line in my display? 

Hi All.In a scenario where you have Vmware snapshot backups of AD servers (2016/2019), would it be possible to do a Vmware restore of the server, and get it up and running again, if one AD server out of two has crashed? Are there any considerations or things that have to be done after the restore, before its working as a domain controller in a pair of two domain controllers again ? Or what would best practice be on a AD server running in vmware? Regards-Anders

Good day allThis one is a bit complicated, so will try keep it as brief as I can.The customer has a faulty storage device with the backup data on it.They’ve received a loan VAST unit which uses it’s own deduplication engine in addition to the Commvault dedupe in place. We would like to turn the Commvault deduplication off as we’re having errors on the DDB which may require us to seal it.The concerns I have are below, and I’m hoping to get some clarity on it.The faulty storage and VAST storage are in the same Data Centre (DC1).We want to turn DDB off in this DC and do a Move Mount Path(s) from the faulty storage to the VAST.At the same time, new backups are running to the VAST device on different Mount Paths.When this is all complete and the faulty storage is replaced (it won’t have it’s own DDB capabilities, so Commvault will handle that), we will move the VAST Mount Paths back to this s

SAP for Oracle agent on client's log backups are running fine but not clearing archive logs  we already enabled “Archive delete” option on subclient level.

Can i exclude certain databases (tempdb, model etc.) on a plan/policy/server group level.The goal is to group servers which uses SAP Sybase database instances, and exclude databases which is not used.(tempdb, model etc.)Otherwise I have to edit each subclient, and exclude those databases, on each server. Hope you guys can help.Thank you. 

Hi CV Community, We have acquired a company that has a chunk of data in Egnyte’s cloud.  If possible, I’m to try and back this data up, before they start trying to port it into our Sharepoint and other services as deemed appropriate.   Anyone done this? (and how did you?) I’m not seeing a lot of “we did this” sort of commentary with google searches, and I get no hits for dealing with Egnyte data in CV’s manuals or KB site. Thanks, David K

I’m on v11 SP16 and have inherited a system from someone who is no longer available.  I am not incredibly well versed in CommVault, so forgive any wrong explanations/terminology if I do not describe this well. Background:We have several Clients that have been “disabled for backup” at various levels (some at the client level, at the subclient level, or both), probably due to retiring of the underlying server (working on this info), but some clients are still backing up some things (like the filesystem or a database) and other items like a different database on the same server are disabled for backup.  The jobs for these “deactivated for backup” *should* have aged off due to how old they are.  Some have been written to tape, others have not (but still years old, way past retention).  I know I can “release the license” on the client and delete it in some cases, which will remove the jobs, but i don’t necessarily want to do that in call cases.

We have two File system servers configured MS Failover Cluster. We already installed File system core & File system agent in both nodes and then added cluster client.Created new subclient under the cluster client and then content trying to browse the Drive and folders.We are not able to browse any files under few folders.While running backup it's scanning only and not able to start the backup.The specific folders inside files are encrypted using software. Log error: FolderWatcherOps::Run(113) - Failed to get the filters from registry. Hi all,I would like to remove the email for a commcell user profileI’ve tried from Commcell console but it’s not allowed. I’ve tried from command line (QOperation.exe) but using an empty string has no effect. Is it possible to remove the email?Thanks in advance

A customer of ours uses FairCom C-tree as database and requires an application consistent backup.C-tree comes with its own VSS writer which is registered as “c-treeACEVSSWriter”.Is it possible to do a FileSystem backup an invoking this VSS Writer to freeze and thaw the database?Thanks for guidance.

Hello, Everyone.I have a REDHAT linux 8.3 client i have been trying to onboard for a while (Trying to install SP22). It gets to the SERVER/GATEWAY name, I enter the commserve name, it tries to reach the commserve but it says SERVER could not be contacted.I have opened port 8400,8401, 8402 and 8403 for two-way and one-way but connection ends up writing the same error.PINGING and TELNETING works both ways.I don’t know if there’s any help that can be rendered, please.

I have the following  issue in Oracle  environment , N:B,When i had the below error in  windows files system box,by re-installation,the problem was solved.Now the issue is in an oracle environment/Clusters.In an attempt to solve,i restated commvault services, re-installed commvault,confirured network pairs and still the issue persisted.Our backups are not backups through firewalls.No need to disable anti-virusAny tips/solution to this issue? Thank you.Happines

Hi there,we are dealing with a strange issue. In the job controller there is an error messageError Code: [32:408]Description: Enterprise backup capacity license is required to run jobs. Advice: Please contact customer support for additional license.Source: XXX, Process: JobManagerHowever, in the license summary report there is unlimited number of licenses for Application Class 1,2,3 and 5 used licenses out of 400 for Application Class Virtual - Oracle Databases which is our case. Do you have any idea how to check Enterprise backup capacity license ? Cheers!

Hi,In the Command Center, unlike the Commcell Console, there are not all types of restore.Obviously I log in on both consoles with the same company and the same user.

Hi All, I would like to ask for some better ideas than mine..In particular I need information if client has it’s backup activity enabled/disabled on client level and if so, collect it’s commcell name as we have 2 commcells in our environment. Anybody used gzip with --rsyncable to increase dedupe efficiency and does it actually help?  People still like to do app/database dump and pickups its all good until they compress the dumps and you convert the pickup backup from tape to disk dedupe.  Since dedupe doesn’t like compressed files as a source there’s rumors that --rsyncable option will help here.This option uses a totally different compression algorithm that's rsync friendly and only increases the compressed size by about 1% when compared to the regular flavoured gzip file.     

How can different retentions be implemented for Exchange Online Backups?For example 30 days on primary copy, and 180 days on secondary copy.One can create a Storage Policy / Plan with such retentions, but as Exchange Online uses dedicated Exchange Policies for retention, this won’t achieve the desired outcome.A mailbox can only be assigned one Exchange Retention Policy, defining how long the messages are retained for after receiving them / them being deleted, but that will take effect on all assigned backup copies.Due to size and cost limitations, having one retention for both copies is not an option unfortunately, so I’m wondering if this is possible at all.One idea could be to run periodic full backups (archive but select “convert to full”) and then have the secondary copy on selective, only using the monthly fulls for example. But this will create massive overhead if we have to run a full backup of all Exchange Online mailboxes once a month or s

Hello,after upgrading from V11FR20 to V11FR24 I noticed a new schedule policy named “System Created DDB Space Reclamation schedule policy” which was disabled by default.I basically know what the Space Reclamation functionality is about, and the policy has all our deduplication engines assigned. But when initializing this policy it finished in less than a quarter of an hour and from the logs only one dedup engine was processed. Another manual start just gives below error message. Can anybody explain to me what this schedule policy is about and how it is supposed to work?
