If we have an existing DDB on a drive for a media agent and that drive gets encrypted with Bitlocker does that cause a problem?My thought is that it isn’t since all reads/writes are happening inside the server. There might be a performance penalty though. Or am I totaly wrong?//Henke
Just to verify.The subjected workflow only exports settings for a stg policy but no action is done on the source commcell. Hence all backups etc.continues to work as before?//Henke
Hello.I wonder if I’m the only one experiencing this.But why do bother with uploading logfiles prior to a case is created as it seems that Support isn’t even reading them, although it’s described in incident whats needed. ? It seems that when Support comes back, it feels that they didn’t even bother to read the description at all. Most times a remote session is needed, although they have information to start of from. Okej, I’m ranting a bit but it is annoying.//Henke
We have some trouble with paths to a Synology nas going offline.Currently we have the DNS name in the path. I’d like to change that to referring the IP address instead. I’m pretty sure I can do it without any issues but better safe then sorry. Anyone see any risks of changing the \\DNSname to \\IPaddress for the path(s)? //Henke
Hello!Just started with Plans and have a question regarding storage part in derivated plan.I created a “Base”Plan to derivate other plans from. I enabled override restrictions to required for storage and optional for the rest. When I create the derivated plan I add new storage detsinations, primary and secondary, abd generate the plan. In the Plan there is now 3 storage destination, the snap shot Primary copy wasn’t previously shown. Since it’s inherrit the settings it’s pointing to the wrong storage destination.Can that be changed from CommandCenter to either correct storage destination or deleted or do I simply have to delete it from GUI, if possible and recommended? We have a major project that will be started.For various reasons some of our compute and applications will move to Azure Gov cloud.At the present we have two commcells serving the enterprise on prem.One of them contains backups for clients that need to move.There are Local libraries for primary and Azure Libraris (Commercial cloud) for secondary copies.Preferably being able to retain backups is desiered, at least the backups that exists in Azue.I know that clients can be migrated to a new comcell but the backup data isn't migrated.Anyone gone through something like this? If so how did you tackle the task.We have just started to plan out this change and is just throwing ideas around. BRHenke
I’ve looked at the list of destinations for cloud library and didn’t find Azure Gov. Cloud. We currently use Azure but will move to Azure Gov Cloud.Can I create a Cloud library in Azure Gov by just choose Azure and change the url? Or isn’t Azure Gov Supported as destination? BRHenke
Hey,I’m trying to change a cloned report of webreport “Backup Job Summary”.I’ve cloned it and make some alterations.Im trying to add default values for the client names in the Input Section,but it fail when report is run with “Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value 'NaN' to data type int.”I suppose that it’s the client name shown in the dropdown list that I should add but that gives an error.According to documentation thats really all thats needed.Anyone know what to put in there? //Henke
I’m looking for a way to edit the outgoing mail from a scheduled report, somthing like for the alert emails.It doesen’t seem it’s possible, i’ve looked in both the console and webconsole.I guess it’s possible with a workflow, but the learning curve for that seems very steep. I’ve tried it but abandonded it due to lack of skills/understanding.Another way is to use powershell to send the email and fetch the report from a local destination. But if it’s kept in Commvault it would be administrativly easier, maybe.The reason for this is that our Incident system use some XML to configure incidents.Anyone have any idea?//Henke
Hello,I just updated one commcell to 2023E from 2022E.Release notes states that some reports was deprediated in release 2023, like Audit Trail report.There is a link to a support document, stating that to get any information a user needs to be a meber of, 1. master 2. Have commcell associated.My account is member of master but I have no idea on how to do the other association. Can anyone shed some light? as it is now the report comes up empty. Hello,I am migrating a few media agents due to hw refresh and in the past I’ve done this manually successfully. Lately this is more problematic with the lockdown thats done on the indexcache directory created at installation. In the documentation it still says to copy the index cache from old to new media agent, but I havent been success in copying to the correct directory due to it is write protected. Hello,I removed a media agent and I forgot to disable the Ransomware protection before I got rid of it in commcell.Now I can’t delete the directory since its “readonly”. Unfortunately the directory is on a drive also used for other things so I can’t format it. Since the drive has live data I don’t like to do the disk part thing either.Is there a commvault tool or way for me to get rid of the directory? Best RegardsHenke
Hello,In the Advanced Options of a backup job there is a posability to change the retention for the specidic job at launch in various copies.As per documentation the job will be pruned according to the specified retention time. Does that also hold true if I would specify a retention less then the storage policy copy properties?If I have a stg policy copy with 365 days and 1 cycle. If I specify 180 days for the job, will it be pruned after 180days and not 365 days?//Henke

Hello,I have a client that is backed up as a virtual instance plus a native SQL agent. Now I’d Like to change that and remove from virtual and add a File&Systems agent. Though it seems it is already installed, as seen below, but I don’t see the agent under the client.Is there a way to add the license for it? I can’t reinstall it it seems since it’s already there? So I created a job summary report from the commcell GUI, filling in all items abd adding it to be scheduled. The report is created a a CONSOLE report. But when I look at the result in the scheduler it’s been, magically or by commvaults visdom, changed to be a job summary webreport. Nothing noticed me about the change and in the GUI there is a specific selection to create a Job Summary as a web report.Where can I find the announcement of this change?? The web report contains loads of informatiuon I don’t need, so now I have to go and build a new customized web report? Where as the GUI report had an easy click “summery” I need to create a new report with just that info.If anyone can point me to that “one button” on the web report I’d much appreciate it. I understand that Commvault is trying to make things easier and more streamline, but that defenetly is causing issues in some areas, specificlly if one is used to the more granular control of the environment.BRHenke
Hello!Our auditors use reports from Commvault to verify incidents in our incident system. Mainly they have been using PDF reports.As of late we discovered some discrapancies in the reports. First it seems the number of pages created for a pdf differs even though the time frame is the same. We also discovered some naming and columns was changed in the reports. I think that both can be explained by that one: the PDF creator program might render the pages diffrently, Second: the naming and column change problaby was due to service pack upgrade.I also discoverd that the number of protected object wasnt consistent in one of the reports, I had run it 3 times for verification. All other counters seems to be accurate. How can this be? The reports should be the same if all selection criteria are the same?Anyone else experienced this? Headings of the reports below.BR Henke
HelloWe have worm enabled copies. The retention is 10 days and 1 cycle.Now we have a server that is decomissioned and backups have expiered after 20 days, so we are cleaning up the stg copies. But coming to the worm copy we can’t get rid of it due to that we can’t manually delete a job from it. As it is now it seems the backup jobs will be in there forever.I know we can do the process for unlocking the worm setting via support.Is there a best practicies regarding worm enabled copies in the respect of cycles?Am I right to assumethat, If we would set the cycles to 0 the job would prune off correctly?BRHenke

Hello,How do I get passed the 10000 object limit when doing a browse or job summary report?On the report it’s onlu allowing max 10000 lines, and in browse I can only see the firs 10000 objects, the other 3252 I have no idea on how I can see or select.
