Hey All, did you any inforamtions regarding vSphere Replication and commvault vsa backups ?  Is this supported from commvault end ?  The vSphere Replication is going dow after commvault backuped the vm.  We do not use HotAdd at all for backup and we use NBD transport for these backups. We also tried not to use CBT file for CommVault subclients (some of them as a test), and we got some successful backups without replication failures, but at the very end even on these subclient I was told that replication broke.We also tested "Crash Consistent" backup type (pure snapshot), but without success.We do not know if the problem connected with storage performance.VMWare support told us that the root of the problem is connected with the locks (that came because of CV snapshot operations), and VMWare can do nothing with this locks and stops/breaks replication. At the same time we know 100% that CV uses only VMWare API for snapshot operation, - no hidden functions.

We are planning on setting up DR for commvault, What are best practices in terms of Space, RTO and RPO.

Our security team are complaining that when they reboot their Siteminder servers, their process fails to start because ClMgrS process appears to be using port 44442.  Siteminder needs that port in order to start up.  What we end up having to do is to stop the commvault process in the client to let the Siteminder start; then restart commvault.Does anyone know why Commvault need that port?   It is not in the list of standard ports that Commvault uses.  https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/essential/7102_port_requirements_for_commvault.html#additional-ports-based-on-use-cases Anyone know how to exclude that port by the CommVault agent?

Hi Team, How can I remove one of the nodes on my SQL Always On Instances. There are 3 nodes configured, one of them got out of order. So, I need to remove this because backup didn’ t go running state. I didn’ t find any documentation for this.  

Hello community, for the AIX client, after adding it to the Network-Topoogy (one-way) in /var/adm/messages, the event logging frequency increased significantly: syslog: /usr/sbin/ifconfig -a this information appears seven times per minute in the system log of /var/adm/messages. I'm sure it's the backup client's fault, because the problem started exactly when I modified the connection via Network-Topology. Also when I turn off the backup client the logging stops.I'm asking for help - because so frequent logging of insignificant events fadingly darkens the view of the log and the system log is also growing fast. best regardsDorota 

Plan to create Azure VM snapshot and AWS EC2 snapshot by Commvault and keep 3 snapshot copies for each VM.1, the snapshot is full snapshot? or we have chance to create incr. snapshot for cost saving.2, how to calculate snapshot cost?

HiI’ve been trying to run Duplicate Oracle database using Tape Storage Policy Copy but it fails during Archivelog restore with “Error while restoring backup piece”.Since this is a Selective Copy there are only Weekly Selective Fulls present on media. I’ve been looking for some answers in RMAN log, but what I see here doesn’t make sense.First of all the last SOF (selective online full) backup present on tape copy is job 47104. Looking at RMAN run block I can see SET UNTIL clause is set to correct time which is a couple of minutes before job 47104 ended. It does restore all required datafiles, but during archivelog restore it tries to restore from backup pieces from newer jobs which, since this is a Selective Copy, are not present on the media. Then it fails over to previous job until it tries to restore from the job that is actually on the media (47104) but it still fails permanently this time. The SCN on which restore fails is lower then the Next SCN number in the job properties so it

we plan to migrate Netapp OnTap from on-premises to cloud, want to get some suggestion. 1, plan to backup data to Azure data box, then restore data from data box to Azure file service. How to move backup image from Azure data box to Azure blob for next restore job? 2, on-premises Netapp OnTap is about 10TB, will move them to Azure file service and run routine backup job. Hello All, Yesterday with one of my colleague we tried to configure some Reports from daily backup on email. The fastest way is login to webconsole. My colleague has some access to CommCell, but from site of webconsole, when he tried to login, the popup window inform us that the user or password is not corrected. I wonder what type of security access should be granted to the user to: Have access to webconsole.  Have possibility to create proper report.Regards, Michal

Hi,  Does anyone knows how the Commvault determines the number of clients and instances to be crosschecked? According to Data Aging logs, the function getCrossCheckInfo() returned a total of 10 (ten) Oracle instances to be cross checked, but we have many more.  The option Disable RMAN Crosscheck is NOT checked for any client.

Hello everyone, how are you guys doing?Well, currently we have a client that is using Commvault software and he is kinda lost in the alerts that he receives via e-mail (even having the configurations of the Tokens in the Alert when he receives, the pieces of information is not properly shown as he expects like the correct name of the VMs, why some of them are getting errors and which VMs, etc).With this, he requests to see if there’s an option to receive the Alerts integrating with Zabbix or with something similar. I took a look in the Alerts Configurations and I see the option to use SNMP and Webhooks. Here we already have a Zabbix server that we use to receive some specific Alerts such as if the server is down, or rebooted. With this, I took a look in the documentation and noticed that Commvault can use SNMPv3: https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/essential/97609_setting_up_snmpv3_alert_notifications.html but I didn’t found anything in how to properly configure this so we can use

Hi All,i want to configure 3rd party storage replication between 2 Commvault sites (every site has a Media Agent) , instead of using a dash/aux copy.is this supported? What is the way for restoring from DR site when doing a failover after a crisis? Can we just scan the CIFS share on the DR media agent and restore all data?thanks.

Hi,we want to backup some vmware vms sitting at a hosters site.For security reasons, the vcenter is in a different network segment and only available via an exclusive vpn connection.So i wanted to setup a Pre-Scan script to up and a Post-Backup script to down the VPN.But for whatever reason, the vmware VSA agent isn’t supporting a Pre-Scan script.Am I the only one, looking for this feature/function?Is there a workaround?I would really like to not have to use another program to schedule the VPN. Best RegardsJoerg

I have deployed FileSystem Package to approx. 80 laptops remotely from console and did not selected option to “configure as laptop “.Now, they are appearing as Server and i want them to appear as laptop.How can i change the package to configure as laptop?when i try to add package . the option to “configure as laptop “ does not appear”.

Hi guys,  Recently, we upgraded our CommCell environment, from one of the clients, the upgrade passed successfully, on the CommCell console, the new version is showed up, but on the client side, when checking the commvault services status, we found out that it’s the old version that is still showed up comparing to the other clients. We tried restarting services, but, the issue remained.Any suggestion to clear this issue ? Is there some sort of cache on the clients to be cleared, or anything else ? Regards.

All my media agents have the same settings in Media Agent → Properties → “General” Tab except one, which has ”Validation on Network” not checked (the others do). I found the docs for this setting here:  MediaAgent - Online Help (commvault.com) and its one of those where the definition is basically rewording the setting (not a lot of detail)Is there any reason anyone would *not* want to check “Validation on Network”?  I’m not sure if it was an oversight or done for some reason for this one media agent. I’m mostly sure it was oversight or forgotten about, but wanted to see if “Validation on Network” was something set by default (I’m on SP16), or if people turn it off as its CPU intensive or mostly unnecessary unless you need xyz protection from bad/choppy network connections.  I would guess that if “Validation on Network” is unchecked… something else would catch invalid data before its written to disk?

Hi, I have issue after upgrade Commserve and MediaAgent. On the customer environment has Commserve and 2 MediaAgent, I have upgrade Commserve to SP24 and 2 MediaAgent to SP24. The result Commserve is complete upgrade fine and 1 MedaiAgent is complete upgrade fine. The second MediaAgent is display that can’t communicate with commserve need to change commserve name.I have check on Commcell the second MediaAgent go offline and check readiness, it shows about communicate. So I try to check network ping , telnet , and check on hostfile. CS can ping <ip> and <hostname> to second MediaAgent, MediaAgent can ping <ip> and <hostname> to CS. CS = OKMA1 = OKMA2 = need commserve to change name Is anyone has meet about this issue? Please advise me. Thank you.
