Good morning allI wanted to confirm that initiating a restore using Command Centre won’t give you the option to change the Data Path (Media Agent and Library)? We’re allowing business units to manage their own operations and this is one requirement that’s come up, and it looks like we will have to get them to use the Java console instead? Thanks.Mauro
HELLO, is it possible to turn off the creation of those performancemetrics.logs from Commvault?? We have a full FS due to its creation. Whou sould manage the creation of these logs and where? Thank you L
Hi Everyone,Greetings, we are planning to migrate the commserve from 2012 OS server to 2019. The commserve service pack is 11 SP 9+, we are planning to upgrade 11.24 with latest maintenance. Here the question is, the commserve running on low OS 2012, can we upgrade the commserve to latest version on same OS to migrate or after migration of database to new hardware need to upgrade the service pack? Thanks and regards.
The rest api has the ability to list credentials, and to get details for the credentials but cannot retrieve the actual credentials? This seems incomplete / pointless.am I missing something?I am trying to use powershell to make some changes outside of Commvault but the credential manager api doesn’t seem to be able to return actual credentials.https://api.commvault.com/#7dc77320-bdce-4591-95c4-ccd3325e2094
Hello! Is it securely possible to have a CV environment for servers, which is not in Active Directory and using one set of Media Agents, to share those Media Agents with another Commserve which IS in AD in order to facilitate backing up of workstations? How hard would this be?Things I’m wondering about: We could just create a new Library on the Media Agent dedicated to workstations. There are actually two MAs, one at each of our locations, but let’s keep this simpler for now. How susceptible do we think the server Libraries are to hacking attempts via CV? The only communication between Commserves, workstations and media agents is TCP 8000-8006? Commserves for server backups are segrated from “everybody else” short of a few physical servers and ESX/VMs. If we are hacked on the workstation side (let’s assume someone gets into an admin account and runs ramped), can they harm the server backups in another library on the same media agent? Thanks for any input and please let me know if I’
Good Morning, a colleague encountered a credentials request from the commvault edge monitor while she was saving a pdf file. Is it a normal behaviour ? Thank youIlario
Hello Dears, we are protecting an exchange dag in another domain/ network backup is working fine, but when we are trying to restore an individual messages to the mailbox we are unable to browse the mailboxes - we have outlook 64 bit installed on the mediaagent as well as exchange package.
Hello Team,We have restored File system backup job, it’s got restored but is showing No. of Skipped files as per the restore job. We checked skip files, but the files are restored in target location. We want to know the reason for skipped files. As per the restore log, it’s showing “The failed byte count does not include files that failed due to seek error”. Please advise.
Hello, TeamI have this client with these issues. 1. They backup currently on an Oracle DR server (the production database replicates to to the DR(They don't use production because of performance issue))and they are having this resync issue.. below is the error: Error Code: [18:183] Description: Failed with Oracle DB/RMAN error [RMAN-03002: failure of allocate command at 04/27/2022 07:16:05 RMAN-03014: implicit resync of recovery catalog failed RMAN-03009: failure of partial resync command on default channel at 04/27/2022 07:16:05 ORA-20110: set stamp set count conflict ]2. When they do a restore of an oracle database, on the Database end, it requests for an archive logs of 5 years ago. What could be the cause of these problems? I am writing a report to them and these are the only 2 issues I have not been able to fathom.
Anyone saw this on 11.26 command center already?: (in devtolols)
My commvault Server is on VM on vmware and when i search for any backup history it takes 2-3 minutes to display the results. While for another client who is having phsyical server with same configuration , the result is instant.what could be reason? where should i look for trooubleshooting
I feel like I’m missing the Capt. Obvious clue in how the Rules are intended to be used in Command Center when setting up a VM group. In the old java UI, I would have content which is easy to define, and then my filters. Where does the ability to filter (exclude) come in with the Rule function? It seems to be not completely baked yet. Here’s the scenario: We have 100’s of VMs with a custom attribute defined with a value of “false” telling the old schedule/SP method of backups to filter those VMs out. I am trying ot convert to plans and doing this all via Command Center but regardless of what I build my rules as, this seems to more of an include (content) based rule system rather than a filter based exclude list. Sure, I get that I can toggle some things like power state on/off, or template true/false, but filtering seems to be much more obscure here than in Java land. Is this by design or what am I missing?thanks
Hello Commvault Community, Today I would like to ask you about Oracle out of place database recovery, specifically about TEMP table space recovery. The problem appears when Oracle DB is restored out of place. It’s full restore of DB - with control files but without spfile. The name of the target database is different from the original name. Both the original and target environments have database files located on ASM disks, however the ASM group names on the two servers are not identical. After entering the appropriate fields in the Redirect tab (as in the attachment), all database files except are restored correctly, but the tablespace Temp file aren’t. The Temp tablespace is created, but I have to create the database file with the sql command after logging into the database. Each time the restore job on the Commvault side was Completed, with no errors. Please let me know what I should enter in the Redirect Temp Table Spaces field if I expect the temporary tablespace file to be restore

Hello, We have a problem with CommServe. We have 2 physical servers. We’ve 3 instances on each server:Instance 001 - CSInstance 002 - CS_failoverInstance 003 - MAOn Windows is configured Windows Faiover Cluster (for GRID, for MediaAgents) When Windows is member on Windows Faiover Cluster, Commserve Communication will be not established (failed to communicate with Instance 002, 003 on the same server and second server).Telnet is OK, but chceck readiness and for example Transaction Logs not working. Nextly, when I restart the server, communication will be OK. But when I restart Instance001 on Process Manager, the problem will reappears. When we delete Windows from Windows Faiover Cluster, CS looks OK.Do You know any resolutions? Is this Configuration supported? Best RegardsKarol
I am investigating a performance issue on a server that is both client and media agent.Looking in the PerformanceMetrics.log file I see the metrics for CPU load on some CV processes. But they seem always to be at zero.Isn’t those collected into the log file or does something need to be enabled for them to get there. I’ve attached a screenshot of that section from the log file
Hi all, I have a question about the OS requirements for the CommServe. https://documentation.commvault.com/11.26/expert/2801_commserve_server_system_requirements_windows_01.html Windows 2012(R2) is not listed anymore, so I suppose it is not supported anymore for the CommServe. However, the note directly above the table says “The Commvault software fully supports the most recent version of an operating system, until the vendor ends support.”. Windows 2012R2 is Supported by Microsoft until October 10, 2023. So, is Windows 2012R2 still supported for the CommServe, or not?And if not, why does the note suggest it is? Thanks for clarifying. :-)

Hi Team, What kind of information do CacheDB and ResourceMgrDB DBs store, what are their duties? It is stated in the BOL below that it is non-critical, but it does not say what kind of information they store.https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/96200_commserve_recovery_frequently_asked_questions.html
