Copy Software fails with "No packages or updates were found in folder"

Just patched from v11SP14 to v11SP16HPK141 and I want to get that patch (141) into my software cache so I can push it out to clients.  I go through the traditional steps for a system with no internet connectivity: Downloaded Maintenance Release from CommVault StoreAdd/Remove HardwareCopy SoftwareCopy Software From Location : Browse and select directory from extracted v11SP16_Available_21Jan_WinX64 file fails with :Error Code: [68:481]Description: No packages or updates were found in folder [].Source: {comserver name}, Process: DownloadSoftware this directory is the exact directory that I extracted and then used to patch to 141 on my server so I know the files are valid. I have noticed that there are no payload related xml files like in previous patches.  Any help appreciated.

Commserve (passive) upgrading SQL version

Hello,After the testing with test failover from CommServe A to another Commserve B, I have started the production failover. The production failover is successful completed.But, the replication job don't work from CommServe B (new) to CommServe A (old).Because the SQL-version of CommServe A is lower than CommServe B.CommServe A have 12.00.5223 (SQL 2014)CommServe B have 13.00.5888 (SQL 2016)How can I fix this problem?I think that this article will help me, but it is not about the passive Commserve. https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp20/article?p=115437.htm Do you have any advice for me?

Unix Failover Cluster and Job Results folder on NFS

Hi, Setting up a backup for a Solaris Cluster. Got a question if we can have the Job Results folder on an NFS mounted volume on the Cluster Group? I have had the Job Results Folder on net-shared volumes before but never in a cluster group setup. Is it supported? /Patrik

Backing up and restoring folder structure only

Hi all.I am following best practice for SQL server VM backups by snapping the OS and SQL program file drives only, filtering out the drives that hold the databases.So if we lose the VM, we restore the VM from snap backup, add drives and then use the SQL agent to restore the databases.The issue we have is that to do the restore requires folders to be manually created on the newly added drives, and on some of our SQL servers with multi instances there can be a great many of these.There doesn’t seem to be an option for the SQL restore to create the folders it needs so I had the idea of using the file agent to backup the drives, but filtering out all files, so it effectively just backs up the folders.We could then use the file agent to restore the folder structure and the sql agent to put the databases in the folders.I can’t quite work out though, how to filter out all files, but keep the folders.Can anyone help?Thanks.

1 Touch Backup and Recovery for AIX Clients

Dear All,I have around 40 AIX clients with 7.2 OS which is in backup rotation. I would like to enable the 1 touch recovery option from advanced settings. Although for AIX, I should deploy a dedicated 1 touch server and a 1 touch server directory in the same server to perform 1 touch backup and recovery of all AIX clients.However I am now confused with system requirements for 1 touch server and also if I am planning to use the same 1 touch server for all the 40 clients what should be system requirements and also the directory size?Can anyone help me on this?RegardsAnanth

True NAS shares (NDMP and CIFS)

I am trying to setup backup for TrueNAS device which hosts both CIFS and NFS share.  Looking at the NAS backups; it appears NDMP is not supported.  I have a Windows proxy that can talk to the NAS device and can be used as a point to protect CIFS share; as I understand for NFS I would need to setup a linux VM.  I noticed TrueNAS also has snapshot support; it is possible to leverage that?

Oracle restore out of place failed

Hello im facing an issue restoring an oracle database from RAC to another new server. case : we had a retired oracle RAC with a log retention backup in place.now the customer after 10 Months need  some data from the oracle db, so we implemented a new node to restore the db on it configuration on the source rac was as below  when i try to  perform out of place restore with control file option selected and no catalog option i get this error “ RMAN-06172: no AUTOBACKUP found or specified handle is not a valid copy or piece”i have tried more than 3 different point of times with the same issue.i have configured the pathes in the redirect option i have configured the CF&SPfile option to be from autobackup once and from peice once and i got the same issue.  RMAN below Rman Script:[run {allocate channel ch1 type 'sbt_tape'PARMS="SBT_LIBRARY=/opt/commvault/Base64/libobk.a(shr.o), BLKSIZE=1048576 ENV=(CV_mmsApiVsn=2,ThreadCommandLine= -cn pendba1 -cs site_a_commserv.,CV_channelPar=ch1)"TRACE

Hey all - I have a content indexing question - if we remove a storage policy from content indexing , what happens to those indexes?  Do they stay?  How do we clean them up?  Example - 2 storage policies and only 1 is indexed.  We removed the check box from that one and added the other storage policy  and ran a index job.  Does the previous indexing stay put?  Is there a way to clean up the indexes from the previous storage policy?

Hello All,I need a clarity on proxy client system requirements - IntelliSnap for oracle.As per the documentation, Its mentioned the FS copy don't need oracle software to be installed in this case what should be the server compute resourcesfor RMAN copy - Its mentioned we need Oracle license as we will installing the oracle software along with our Oracle IDA and Media agent, in this case what should be the server compute resources.Also when we say oracle software to be installed and the server will be used as proxy whether the proxy will auto create the instance on it during the backup copy or do we need to set up the dummy oracle instance same as source client on proxy? how does it work?The IntelliSnap configuration is same for Oracle RAC as well?RegardsAnanth

Encrypting network traffic at the CommServe.

Hi Community,Was exploring this setting from security point  , had few doubts.https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/125170_encrypting_network_traffic_at_commcell_level.htmlDoes Encrypt network traffic at the CommCell level means we are encrypting communication which is happening within Commserve ( i guess communication with CS database ) and this setting doesn't concern about the communication between CS and Media agents or Clients ? if this is not the case , what type traffic actually we are encrypting using this setting and how can i check if my current traffic within CS is not encrypted ? An real example if i dont enable this setting , what could be the possible impact to my CS . Information extraction from log files for SIEM/SOC

Hi,I'm looking for documentation around the ability to index logging related security events for SIEM/SOC purposes. Commvault software by default generates tons of log files and for me (and I suppose a lot of other customers) it is hard to get specific information from the Commvault logs for different purposes then troubleshooting. Besides that I'm looking for guidance on this, just to make sure the information can be collected in a consistent way so you are safeguarded that a future update will not break this. I'm especially looking for information how to get all information from the logs that gives me insights in things like:​​​​​Activity via REST API, Command Center, CommCell console, Apps, etc. Activity towards (and through) network gateways. Activity to/from functionality with external components like external REST API's, Key Vaults.  Communication between client computers. How to get rid of WORM copy in primary DR policy

Hi all!as time went by, the disk space on the disk library associated with CommServerDR policy is full. Unfortunately, on the Primary copy of the CommServerDR policy WORM Copy settings has been enabled. Even worse, the retention period has been set to infinite.Would it be feasible to move the mount path/the disk library to the different disk and then concurrently create new policy copy in CommServerDR policy, that could be set as primary instead of current one?Or is just the only solution either reinstall all CV environment (as it is DR policy) or to ask support for eliminating the WORM copy?Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,According to the docs, https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=5430.htm , the following needs to be done in order to send alerts to SCOM:==From the CommCell Console ribbon, click the Home tab, and then click Control Panel. Click SCOM. In the SCOM Configuration dialog box, type the fully qualified host name of the SCOM Server. Type the credentials required to connect to the SCOM Server and click Apply. Note: The credentials must be for a user who has administrator rights to the SCOM Server == The problem is: Our scom administrator don’t want to give admin permissions to an external tool which they don’t manage. (neither do I).Is there a way to implement the scom monitoring without that part? (the management pack can be loaded on the scom of course)

HyperScale 1.5 Reference Architecture Upgrade

Hi All,We are running the HyperScale 1.5 Reference Architecture with RHEL on top of HP Apollo 4200 Gen9 servers. Now we planning to upgrade the OS to 7.9 through CV FR upgrade. I have few quries and would like to hear from people who did the upgrade already.  As per CV, the upgrade takes around 60-90 min. What would be expected duration per node in real world. Is there any firmware pre-request required for this upgrade? Does anyone reverted the change successfully ? If yes, how long it takes per node Do we have any check point to validate the upgradation once completed for first node? instaed waiting till 6th Node upgrade.  Thanks in Advance Mani

Hi, I’m wondering if there is any reg key that can be set for the subclients, in my case a Cloud Apps virtual client where the content rarely changes, so almost every day we get multiple 17:11 errors. Isn’t there some way to set a key that says “I don’t care if you didn’t find any content in the scan?”thanks

Google Workspace support

Hello Team As far as I can see “Google Mail and Google Drive” (known as G Suite/Google Workspace nowadays) is deprecated within FR26. Is that really true? Google Workspace is getting more and more popular, companies use not only Microsoft 365, but Google bundle as well so I am really surprised that Google Mail backup is will not be supported anymore.Do you have some other info or news from roadmap? I am wondering if I can still use this “deprecated” agent to protect G Suite or it’s not good idea as support is finishing. Kind regards,M.
