Question regarding plans

Hi all, Question regarding plans in 11.21 again.In case we have the following settings: What will happen with the full backup, if this setting is disabled:  For me it’s confusing as according to the “full backup” switch, there is no full backup.also, why can we only modify the synthetic full options using the java console

Hello,is someone maybe knowing if its possible to export the O365 backup data including the metadata? For normal iData agents the CCM function can be used. But if we read correctly that isn’t supported for exchange data as example. thanks.Michel

Command Center - restore agents

Hi, For some environments, we use a VM based backup.For restoring purposes, we have restore agents installed on the vms, so that individual files can be restored.Works fine. Now the ‘problem’: when you use the command center, you can go to protection → file servers.Because we only use the agent as restore again (no backup license active), you can see the machines over there. BUT…on that page, they all show are “red - missed” sla….panic...Is there a way to “map” those machines to the vm , so that user doesn’t panic. Of course, not sure if you experience the same.

Hyperscale Reserved Space 6TB

Hi, I have a Hyperscale setup with Mount Path Reserve Space set to 6144GB. I’m guessing this is set by default and you should avoid changing this. In this setup we have typically statis data and we are close to the limit, passing it during weekends and then getting back some space after Data Aging. The system will also have less data to protect in the future as backups will be re-routed to a new Hyperscale.I’m wondering if the Reserved Space could be carefully lowered and what the risk will be. I also noted if I right click the Hyperscale Mount Path I have the option “Release Reservation”, what does that do? I have not found it in docs.     Regards, /Patrik

Commvault Report - Populate CommServe Dashboard only for migrated clients/media agents

Hi All,We are completely installing Commvault setup from scratch for 100+ sites. I am looking your assistance to generate the report as per mgmt report.I need to populate the data in CommServe Dashboard only for migrated clients/media agents. For example I have one remote site and the report related the sites such as Disk Library growth Media Agent load, SLA , Job Summary and etc.. should be included in the commvault reports after migration. As per my understanding, I can exclude particular client  or group from SLA report. But can I include only particular group in the report? Thanks,Mani

Linux Install cvpkgadd not working

Hi! sometimes we have to install custom packages on Linux VMs because the installation from the CommCell is not working. (idk why). We copy the custom package on the Linux VM and executing the ./cvpkgadd binary. The installation interface starts and everything is fine. Now, I’m trying to do the same thing and only get this message:root@srv /tmp/cvmedia/unpacked/pkg # ./cvpkgaddUsing update installer /tmp/cvmedia/unpacked/pkg/linux-x8664/LooseUpdates/CU3/linux-glibc2.3-x86_64/installer/newinstall.gz running as /root/.gxsetup/cvpkgadd/newinstall:root@srv /tmp/cvmedia/unpacked/pkg #I used 11.20.32 and also 11.20.3 (downloaded from the CV website)I tried it on three Ubuntu VMs.Any idea?

Report Row limit in PDF

Hi, Reporting question again (I consider reporting a very important part of the product).We  export reports to PDF, for example backup job history.Problem: the number of records are limited in PDF , based on max size of records, not sre.For year reporting that’s a problem for us.Is there a way to increase that limit?

In one of my customer's environment, vulnerability scans reveals vulnerabilities on ASP.NET on the Commvault servers. Have anyone did a .net framework update to latest 4.x and uninstalled the older one? Upgrade Commserve to SP20 from SP16HPK85

What are steps that I need to follow to complete the upgrade? Does any one have the document that I need to follow to complete this process? I fairly new to commvault and do not know how I should execute this process. Do you know how long we will be supported on Version 16? Monitoring "Ransomware protection" on Hyperscale

 HiRansomware protection on Hyperscale:Any improvements on the monitoring part , so False positives are avoided. ?Alerts monitoring detect intrusion test, but all sorts of sosreport , dbusd and smartd events are triggered in the audit.log on the Hyperscale MA’s and makes monitoring setup full of false positives..I have been guided by commvault to avoid the dbusd entries with this REGEX to enter in the monitoring setup:denied.*cvstorage_t(?!.*\bdbus\b.*)|denied.*cvbackup_t(?!.*\bdbus\b.*).But I still struggle to REGEX the sosreport entries out , any suggestions ?.Regards, Martin Rønde Andersen ,  using https://regex101.com/ as companion.

Command Center - Hidden client computers -> CTRL-F5 to the rescue

Ever since Command Center was equipped with client side caching enhancements we occasionally get customers on the phone who ask us if there is something wrong with the backup environment, because they are missing client computers in Command Center. Even while running the latest maintenance release for FR11.21. When we logon to Command Center as platform admins we do see the client computer(s) in question, so we just ask the customer to perform a CTRL-F5 hard refresh of the client-side cache. Checking the server side log (CVEntityCache) reveals no errors whatsoever.Now I hope to hear from other Vaulters if they have experienced this same issue and at what frequency. Reason for asking is that it "hard/impossible” to reproduce and if the customers knows the CTRL-F5 trick than next time they will most likely not call you anymore because they know the trick, but this of course does not fix the real issue.

sucessful backups not protecting files The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process

The file system backups are showing as successful(no warning) however failing to protect some of the files; I  am wondering why the job is not completing with partial sucess and showing it as a VSS issue.  Is that becuase there are no application specific vss writers for the application and hence quiesing is not working its magic [C:\Program Files (x86)\BigFix Enterprise\BES Client\__BESData\SiteData.db] The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

Oracle RMAN backups - Connection with ClOraAgent failed

We have problem with backing up Oracle database via RMAN on Linux server. CommVault version is 11.20.9.
