I am having issues with my Weekly Tape Copy Storage Policy. I already opened a case with Commvault, but they still couldn't find a solution. The Monthly policy works fine, so I don’t think the issue is our tape library. Is anyone here had the same issue?Error Code: [13:138]Description: Error occurred while processing chunk [4862646] in media [V_174502], at the time of error in library [XXX_MA1_DISKLIB] and mount path [[XXXX-backup-ma1] H:\XXXXX_DEDUP], for storage policy [XXXXX-FS-DEDUP] copy [3 - Weekly Tape Copy] MediaAgent [XXXXX]: Backup Job [314419]. Hi guys,I have a question, When we have 2 tape libraries at 2 different sites but each site has the same barcode, is that possible? Thanks
Hello Team,Is there a way to determine storage allocation per server on a primary disk copy?I’ve tried to run reports, use Command Center and I can’t seem to find any options to include particular servers and then see how much space their backups are consuming on our primary disk copy. Thanks!
I recently configured Catalyst over ethernet and I haven’t any issues during the integration, even a single VM backup test was successful, however when I scheduled a subclient with multiple VMs (5) the job is going to waiting state with the below error: Error Code: [62:2910]Description: Error occurred in Disk Media, Path [CATVMsManagement\1NDD43_11.24.2023_02.03\CV_MAGNETIC\V_3] [-1404 OSCLT_ERR_SERVER_OFFLINE]. For more help, please call your vendor's support I did validate the Store in Commvault and it is in status Ready and access Read/Write, Moun Path Allocation Policy is set to Maximum Allowed Writers. Also ran a mountpath validation on the store and it was successful. The error is only thrown when there is more than 1 VM in the subclient. Is there something else to configure to allow multiple data streams run on the StoreOnce side? Here a sniplet of Job Manager.log19296 66c8 11/23 22:31:12 19 Servant Remote Stream Allocation request for [4] streams of type [1] received. Req
Hello everyone, there is some way to get a list of all jobs that are protected by specific Index Job in a Storage Policy?I have several tapes that are not being exported.Cross-checking the data between Index Backup Retention report and Forecast Report these taped are not being released because of an index job that is protecting backup jobs. The problem is that I cannot find in the history of whole storage policy the jobs indicated as protected. Thanks and regard
environment is running at 11.32.23 version and we are in the process of refreshing the environment. We have 1 old media agent running backups to Network storage. we have added a new media server to environment, configured new mount paths to the same storage in Grid configuration. Backups and restores from and to this storage is working fine. We have a DR setup with the same configuration. When we are trying to run a AUX copy from the new media agent in DC to DR storage, the AUX copies are failing with this error. I am attaching the log and screen shot for referenceany urgent help will be appreciated. Going to support is taking a long time to get an answer. we are waiting for 4 days for an answer for an another issue
Hi all,I have my current MA which has iSCI QNAP storage disks. I want to move all data to a new MA and start using this one.How is suposed to do this about storage disks? I just want to disconnect iscsi from old and connect to the new one but I dont know how to do it at Commvault.Do I must use “share mountpath” or “move mountpath”? (no need to copy data, just present the disks at the new MA and start using it)Im a bit confused about that. Im using Comvault 11.28Thanks in advanceJoan
what will happen if a restore from tape is happening and I suspend the job and place CommVault on maintenance mode and reboot the tape library? Once the tape library reboots, and I resume the job will the restore be corrupted?
We have recently expanded our MSL6480 Tape library with six new LTO9 drives. Initialized 10 new LTO9 tapes from the Library console. However upon checking the properties of the tapes from the CommVault console --→ under media info tab--→ format & type it is showing as ultrium-V7. have anyone faced this problem? please help me to fix this.
Hello, We have Commvault server simpana version 11.28.68. In Tape library there is error for one tape “Remove the cartridge and inspect it for damage. Retry operation with another cartridge.”, but in Commvault console I do not see any error for this tape and it is used for backup.I plan to mark that tape somehow (perhaps prevent reuse) so that it is not backed up and can be used for restore until the retention expires.Best regards,Elizabeta
ANF SAP HANA will generate 12TB archive file daily, will save them on Azure cool tier with 1 year retention. Does Commvault support lifecycle? prefer to save first month archive file in archive tier for quick restore, remain 11 months archive file in archive tier for cost saving
how many media agents i can add to each Azure blob storage?
Loved Ghostbusters. One of the best quips: Spangler: “I’m fuzzy on the good/bad thing. Define ‘bad’”Egon: “Imagine all life as you know it ending instantly as every molecule in your body explodes at the speed of light.” I’m looking to replace our Media Agents, one with a dedupe database that’s getting up in the 1.5 µs range. Looking at this (properties of our dedupe storage policy):… and the dedupe drive/path has ~2.2TB in it. For the “Back-end size for disk storage” on the “Hardware Specs for Dedupe Mode” (https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/111985_hardware_specifications_for_deduplication_mode.html), I’m looking for the “Extra-large” with 2 x DDB… (1), as possibly referenced in the “Total Data Size on Disk...” or simply the “Extra small” (2) as shown here:My thoughts are #1 “up to 1000 TB” is the “total size on disk for all DBs” from the policy. I’d just like to be clear on that before crossing the streams.Thank you for your help ~
Scenario:Local on prem copy - 60 day retentionAux copy to Azure - Long term retentionWe would like to set compliance and worm lock on the Azure copy. Questions:In prior feature releases, the suggestion we were given was to have multiple libraries/storage pools that would be rotated half way through the worm lock. Example: A 30 day retention/ 60 day worm lock, at day 31 you switch jobs to a different worm library for 30 days, rinse repeat. Is this still the case? Our Azure retention is up to 7 years. Would the best option be to have the first Aux land in a hot storage bucket that’s immutable for 30 days, and a 2nd aux written to a non immutable storage account utilizing DDB for the full retention period?
my backup storage has filled up rather quickly. I set up a blackout window for pruning after aging some of the older backups but, the SIDBPrune.log shows “12724 34c8 11/07 15:08:01 ### PRNCTLR StartPrunerThreads:4536 Not starting any pruning threads as pruning is disabled on MA” . I believe i have enabled it in every place i could find. could anyone provide me a list or point me to an article showing all the locations this could be enabled/disabled from? Thank you
Since upgrading to 11.32 (FR13) the Storage Utilization report is reporting incorrect / outdated information.Specifically the Library sizes and free space. It is also not updating when new Disk Libs are added. We use this report to monitor and plan for onboarding / provisioning of new storage.Could someone please share an XML that I can import? Or is anyone else having the same issue when using the Command Center?
Which is the better solution considering the Cost, Space, Dedup Parameters, Throughputs for a Primary Copy only?Primary Copy : With Daly incremental, Weekly Full, On Azure immutable with Dedup that is a mix of DDB Sealing, Data retains longer than my basic retention of 30 Days. (Aux - Full Backups later go to Azure immutable container) Primary Copy : With Daly incremental, Weekly Full On DD - with NO DEDUP, with basic retention of 30 Days. Later have the Full Backups Aux to Azure immutable Cloud.FYI : My Aux copy of Full backups will stay Azure immutable, there is no change in this concept.Just want to make sure having a DD for the primary copy daily backups would be beneficial considering the above parameters. Can you please help me decide
Hi Community,We are planning to convert our production environment’s DDBv4 to DDBv5, but in our test environment, all our media agents are in DDBv5. As the DDBv5 comes from the version 11.14, i am searching for a media kit package older than SP14 in order to test and validate. Is there Anywhere i can download a mediakit older than SP14 which is not available in commvault store ? Thanks in advance.
Hi Team,We have physical servers distributed across the globe, interconnected through our MPLS network. These servers are has the File System Core agent installed. The configuration on the agents is as follows: For our initial backup, we performed in the past a full copy against our mediaservers located at headquarters. However, to optimize data transfer and bandwidth, subsequent copies consist of a combination of incremental and synthetic copies.Periodically, every X years, we need to refresh the hardware on these servers due EOS. Our standard procedure involves migrating data from the existing server to the new one. Once the data migration is complete, we shutdown the current server and rename the new server to match the hostname and IP address of the old one. Before shutting down the current server, I follow these steps:Stop Commvault services on the current server. Copy the “Client Side Deduplication Database” - C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\iDataAgent\JobResults\CV_CLDB t
i would like to know how to restore a file deleted from a fileserverThanks.
Team, in the commcell in question the commservedr aux copy schedule seems to be system created and hidden. To that point, so is the data protection schedule for the primary copy. On the tape synchronous copy, there are extended retention rules for monthly and yearly. Those jobs picked for copy are to be retained infinitely and each need to be on their own tape, with no jobs from other months on the tape in question. Typically, the way to ensure this is to go into the schedule and select the options “start new media”, “mark media full on success”. Because the commservedr storage policy schedule for the aux copy seems to be a hidden system created schedule policy I can’t enable these options. How would I do this ? Is there a commcell level registry value to make the system created aux copy schedule for the commservedr policy visible (and hopefully editable)?thank you!
i can't use the Disk Library Growth Trend report any more, he just show me the last day, although i set 7days ore any other time period.Unfortunately the link fore uninstall and download a recent version from store is not working any more.https://community.commvault.com/storage-and-deduplication-49/showing-library-storage-use-over-time-1069has any one a idea how to fix or wehre i can download a new version? CV is configured with a cluster ndmp client and the nodes for the cluster are added in the ndmp client configuration. There are 6 physical nodes in the cluster. Source netapp is an a700 and the destination netapp is a FAS8700.Issue: For a backup copy job hundreds of jobs running but only a max of 36 transfer data. Hundreds of jobs trying to make a connection to the filer, but they can’t. These jobs are each grabbing a stream but only 36 at a time are moving data. Increasing streams helps but then more backup copy jobs that can run launch and consume streams. There is a snap primary, storagegrid backup copy, vault replica copy, and streaming data protection jobs that are very behind because of the supposed concurrent session limit (36 ?) from the source a700: streams keep being eaten up by backup copy jobs, but only 36 move data concurrently, thereby causing jobs for other copies to not run including the snap primary source copy for the storagegrid backup copy jobs. Misc. From the c
Hello Team,Currently we are using LTO 7 HPE msl6480 tape library with 4 drives. Now we are planning to add expansion module with LTO 9 drives. We will keep 2 LTO 7 drives for any restoration request and for Aux copy we will be using New LTO 9 drives. What changes I will have to make from commvault console end in order to meet my requirement.Note:- Our Primary copy goes to Disk Library and then to Tape(Aux copy).
Hi,I have a DDB that has high Q&I times. This is hosted on a an AWS EC2 instance with the disk type being “gp3” with 300 IOPS.Below is the Databases section. The Files portion of the DDB is not reporting the same issue. My concerns also includes the very high Pending Delete Records in it. I can see that the Data Aging jobs do run as the Prunable Records does go down to zero.I attempted a manual space reclamation on this AWS S3 library that completes with errors. When looking through the logs it appears that the Media Agent does not have the required access on the bucket but the access does seem in place when using the Cloud Test too. Error on server. Could this be contributing to the high Q&I values?Any ideas that could assist with this resolving this? Thanks.Ignes
