Web Console Deprecation – What Customers Need to Know Commvault is continuing its move toward a single, modern management experience through the Command Center. As part of this transition, the legacy Web Console has been officially deprecated and is no longer included by default in newer Commvault platform releases. This article explains what the deprecation means for you, when the Web Console may still be required, and how to request access if your environment depends on it. Why is the Web Console being deprecated? The Web Console is being retired as Commvault standardizes on the Command Center as its primary management and reporting interface. The Command Center provides equivalent or enhanced capabilities, improved security alignment, and is the strategic platform for all future feature development. Deprecation timeline • Version 11.38: Web Console interface marked as deprecated • Version 11.40: Web Console removed from the default installation media • Version 11.42 and later: Web

Have you ever meticulously restored an Azure SQL database from a .bacpac file, checked the job status, and breathed a sigh of relief when you saw "Success," only to be met with a wave of authentication failures and reports of orphaned users? It's a confusing and frustrating scenario. The portal says the operation was successful, the database is online, but your SQL logins and contained users are completely broken. This isn't a random glitch or a failed job that was misreported. It's a common situation that stems from the fundamental design of how Azure SQL Database handles users and logins during a .bacpac import. This article will demystify this behavior, explaining why it happens, why it's not a bug, and how a different authentication method sidesteps the problem entirely.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------1. Takeaway 1: The "Successful" Restore That Secretly Breaks Your SQL LoginsThe core of the problem is this: even when an Azure SQL Dat

Hi all, just wondering if anyone can help me. I’ve noticed on our Hyper-V hosts then when a backup is triggered in CommVault the system event log on the hosts are flooded with Disk and partmgr warnings for specific disks.I’m just wondering if this is normal behaviour or something we need to look in to? For context, these hosts are running Windows Server 2019, are MediaAgents for all our VMs and we are running CommVault version 11.36.102.The disks presented to the cluster are CSVs and are presented via iSCSI from our NetApp.I cant see that its causing any hard to the backups as they are completing successfully. The Vms and hosts also appear to be fine - but not sure what could be causing these warning or how to remediate them.
Hi All, what is the best way to backup windows server with dfs replication via windows file agent ?
I was teaching a CV Engineer trainingsome time ago, using a lab setup for demos that I upgraded from 11.32 to 11.40. I created a disk storage pool to demo things. When I started to configure dedupe, I only got the possibility to choose the MA for the DDB, not the location (vloume / folder), so the DDB ended on the C: drive. Is this because the upgrade went wrong, or is this by design? If it's by design, why???
below are the details regarding backup gateway which is only says windows as supporting os , is linux supported to azure backup gateway to protect azure worklloads https://documentation.commvault.com/11.42/software/system_requirements_for_azure_backup_gateways.html?view=saas https://documentation.commvault.com/11.42/software/system_requirements_for_on_premises_backup_gateways.html?view=saasbut for media agent for saas support all the os MediaAgent: System Requirements
I am currently questioning our AuxCopy to tape performance and want to get some input on how to identify the bottleneck. We have multiple plans which all have two copies to tape. One is synchronous and one is selective. Each of the two is consolidated onto another Global Secondary Copy Policy. The storage target are six LTO9 drives with a mixed LTO8 and LTO9 media inventory. The source for the copy is a NetApp StorageGRID S3 backed storage pool with deduplication connected on a 100G fiber network. We have two Media Agents which are both connected to all LTO drives and the NetApp (same VLAN).Looking at the reported speed of the drives in Commvault I get around 130MB/s all of the time.I could confirm this looking at SFP speeds on the FC switch which also stay around this value with rare peaks to around 200MB/s.What I tested already to look for the bottleneck:- only run one AuxCopy Job- run AuxCopy when no other jobs where running- validate drive > 300MB/s throughput with LTO8 media- differ
Over the weekend, we started seeing errors in SharePoint online backups for all the tenants we backup with the error: “ Failed to validate any of the configured Azure Apps against the SharePoint Tenant Admin site. 1) Please verify the SharePoint Tenant Admin Url. 2) Please check the credentials and permissions for the configured apps. 3) Please ensure Custom App authentication is enabled on the SharePoint tenant.<br/>Source: xx, Process: SharePoint”From logs on the Access Node:CheckOffice365CredModern - Office365 app credentials incorrect : CheckOffice365CredModern - Error is: The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized. Hi all, I had a question. Could not find it with a search, so maybe someone can help me out. Does CommVault support Virtual Trusted Platform Module (vTPM)?I know Rubrik does not support it yet. Best Regard
Hi,I keep seeing an irritating warning during Hyper V backup. One host in the Hyper V setup has been de-configured and the SW uninstalled, and the node has been removed from the list in the Hyper V Instance. Also, it does not show up in the preview for the vmgroups. Even so, the warning (Could not establish connection host [.], results may be incomplete) appears immediately when the backup runs. How can I get rid of this host? Please assist.
Hello,We are currently running backup on Commvault (FR42) for MongoDB Atlas protection with an enterprise customer. Our understanding iis that Commvault orchestrates native Atlas cluster snapshots through the Atlas REST APIs, with no backup copy possible — the data never leaves the Atlas/AWS perimeter and cannot be materialized on a Commvault Cloud Lib...However, MongoDB Atlas natively supports exporting Cloud Backup snapshots to a customer-owned object store (S3, Azure Blob, GCS) via the Atlas Admin API, including S3 Object Lock immutability and PrivateLink transfer. Since Commvault already integrates with this API for snapshot orchestration, we would like to understand:Is there a technical or product reason why Commvault does not leverage the Atlas snapshot export API to provide a true secondary copy (backup copy / air-gapped copy) of Atlas data under Commvault management? Is such an integration on the roadmap for an upcoming Feature Release? If not, what is the recommended Commvault
Hi guys,If I want to achieve the best dedup efficiancy, I have to set the Max Open Files in the Commvault subclient(s) of an Oracle Instance to 1.Otherwise, RMAN will multiplex the number of files allowed into one channel / stream, which leads to poor dedupe ratio for the backups of this databases. Is there an option to influence the parameter of default subclient during instance creation when a new instance is discovered ?Setting the amount of streams and restricting the MaxOpenFiles might be beneficial when adding larger amount of Instances to the environment and where disk or cloud is the primary backup destination.rgdsKlaus
