Hi,I’m on 11.20.85 and had a media agent/ VSA proxy reboot when doing restores. Due to the size of the restore (600 GB+), I restored the files to the proxy instead of going straight to the VM. The crash dump says: Probably caused by : CVVD.sys ( CVVD+d01b )Is this a different issue since 11.20 isn’t a version listed to have problems? Thanks
hi,I'm trying to restore VM to AZURE and then I get the following message, anyone know maybe why?
Hi Team, Is it possible to cross restore from RHEV to Vmware? Best Regards.
Hi Community,i have a question about migrating VM’s from a vcenter 6.5 to a new vcenter server in version 7.(the esxi and datastore layer still the same).Because of the migration to a new vcenter, is there a way to avoid duplicate vm name in the commcell (we plan to migrate more than 15000 VM) ? kind regards, christophe
Hi,we are getting a number of failed backup jobs for SQL default subclient with the following error:Failed to replicate snapshots for subclient [default] using DDRAs I was not able to find any viable explanation for this error message on CommVault support site, I would be glad if someone can explain what this error message actually means.Sincerely,Vladimir
Hello, Is this a normal behaviour so that when you are trying to restore 1 file or maybe 2 files from granular browse of a VM and it restores that file together with all of it’s dirs leading to it? I mean the whole path. It should only restore the file into your selected location without any paths leading to it?We are restoring 1 file ‘19339’ to ‘Restore_Test_Feb22’ dir but you can see it restores whole path to it.[root@no01lastst Restore_Test_Feb22]# lsvg00-root[root@no01lastst Restore_Test_Feb22]# cd vg00-root[root@no01lastst vg00-root]# lstmp[root@no01lastst vg00-root]# cd tmp[root@no01lastst tmp]# lshsperfdata_root[root@no01lastst tmp]# cd hsperfdata_root[root@no01lastst hsperfdata_root]# ls19339 Ideally it should be restored like this?[root@no01lastst Restore_Test_Feb22]# ls19339
Hello, TeamUpdated!!!Please, i have a prospect with this exact requirement.I got more clarity!! The VMs are hosted on VmWare VCloud (DC in London), and they are looking to migrate the VMs to EXSI host (managed with VCenter in a DC in Lagos). How do one go about it?I have a clearer picture now but i need inputs.
Hello Team,One of my customer has Proxmox hypervisor. Do we support it? If yes, any reference documentation would help.
Hello team, I have actually multiple accounts on AWS 1 commserve is hosted on premise 1 commserve is on AWS (standby)Actually I have 2 media agents located in an account name common account (VPC Account)Also I have some other AWS accounts that use the Media agents located in the common account to backup the data (Intellisnap API + agents)we use the assume role to allow clients from others accounts to use the common media Agents that are located on the Common account. We have also 2 other media agents that are located on another account but they were used for test.goal :as the environment is already qualified we prefer to use the existing test Media agent to avoid to create new ones with new IP address in the Common account I want to increase the existing Gridstor located in the common AWS account with the Media Agents located in the test Account to get more performanceWe will have 2 media agent located on a VPC and 2 other located in another VPC but on the same gridstor also a question
The problemHave you ever needed to know how much data you need to backup incrementally from your VMware environment? Because you need to design a new backup storage. Because you need to know, if your WAN is capable of transferring everything into the cloud or from your branch office? Because you need to know the change rates of your VMs? The solutionNow you can track these data changes with a simple script! Let me introduce you to GetChangedBlocksV2! It is a PowerShell script which uses the VMware PowerCLI to read the changes from your VMware disks each time it is run and saves it as CSV. It keeps track of the changes between each run, between each day and between each week. In order to get good results, you need to run this tool on a regular basis, e.g., with the Task Scheduler. There is even a basic Excel file included to analyze the results for you. But if you have better tools feel free to utilize them. Where to get it?https://github.com/turboPasqual/GetChangedBlocksV2 Other stuffWh
Hi, I am trying to restore some files via live browse for VM in command center and I receive the following error: When I go to JAVA GUI it automatically selects the FRE but it fails with: So if I manually change to other FRE - it works: How else I can select the FRE for that VM, so it would not show that ‘FREL name is empty: File Recovery Enabler for Linux hasn't been set for this client. (CV.0x8).’
For RHEL where can I download the version of Mono 6.8 manually, to convert it to Proxy?
hello everyone ,i have old full failed job Error cord 19:857 error opening virtual machine , i check readiness client and permission all fine , did i miss so thing ?sorry about my English BTW
Hello Commvault Community! I come today with the problem of virtual machine recovery by converting from VMware to Nutanix AVH. The Customer runs on the 11.20.85 environment. It has two Hypervisors configured - VMware and Nutanix AVH. Both have backup jobs performed before, so they are working properly. The Customer needs to recover the VM from VMware to Nutanix AVH (from the CommCell Console level - according to the documentation, this is the only available option - although if we look, we will find the procedure for Command Center, although it is described that it is not supported) using this procedure: *Converting from VMware to Nutanix AHV (Commcell Console - Customer attempts a recovery with this procedurehttps://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp20/article?p=97686.htm *Cross-Hypervisor Restores (Virtual Machine Conversion) - confirmation that it is supportedhttps://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp20/article?p=30891.htm *Converting to Nutanix AHV - procedure t
Looking for details, seeing errors during VMware backups specifically during snapshot creation. How can I address this?
Hi all. Open Question! I would like to know what I can expect from a Vmware restore, regards to the speed. At the moment I don’t know if my restore speeds are fast or slow. I’m not talking about reverting from a intellisnap snapshot, but fair and square network traffic. What Vmware restore speeds do you get when restoring a single Vmware server?I get:nbd: around 500Gb/hSAN: around 250Gb/hHotadd: Around 900Gb/h Thanks for helping me to determine if my restores are slow. Regards-Anders
Hi All. I am having issues with restore speed when restoring a vmware server. When a restore is done where “vCenter Client” is set to the vcenter, restore speeds are slow. When a restore is done where “vCenter Client” is set directly to the ESXI host and the vcenter is bypassed, we see a factor 4 in restore speeds. Anyone who can explain this behavior? I thought that the vcenter was only used for control data and not data movement. Regards-Anders
Hi all, we are still facing the issue with failing VSA HotAdd mode backup, that ends with the error "Virtual disks needs consolidation".We know, that during the back up, the virtual disks are binded to VM proxy, a snapshot is done, but the virtual disks stay attached to the backup proxy. My question is, where to find logs from the back up process from the VM proxy. I think, in these logs it could be documented, why the virtual disks are still attached to the backup proxy VM. I have checked the log of the job, but there was no such information. Is there any log, that describes what is being done during the backup job on the VM proxy? Cheers!
Hi Does any one have experience doing snapshot of SAP HANA instances, where the SAP HANA instances are running as an VM using vmware?
Hi all.I would like to restrict my restore users, so that they cannot restore on top of a running Vmware server. I always want them to restore to a new server name, so somebody cannot destroy a running working server.Would it be possible to remove the In Place restore option when restoring a vmware server, and force the users to restore to a new server name. And when restoring to a new server name, would it be possible to remove the option to do a unconditional overwrite so that a user cannot overwrite a running server? Thanks.-Anders
Hi All, We have set exclusion on some of the VMs so that backup does not happen for those VMs. However, on some days, we see that this exclusion is not considered in Commvault and backup for all the VMs in that subclient runs which causes a lot of issues. However, when we go and check in the preview of the contents in the sub client we do not see the excluded servers in it and the next backup that starts runs fine with exclusion in place. Do anyone have any thoughts on why this is happening? Regards, Deepa
Hi all,We’re currently on Commvault v11.20.40, and our VMWare environment is being upgraded from 6.5 to 7.0U2dDoes anyone know where can I find compatibility matrix??We just need to know if any 11.20.xx version supports 7.0U2d, or if we will need to upgrade to other versions ( say for example 11.24.XX )
Hello,I have restored a Linux redhat VMware VM out of place with another name . the VM has vmxnet 3 network driver and has VMware tools enabledwhen I restored the VM, and powered on it, the network cardmac address change and a new device “Wired connection 1” is created inside the guest, then I need to set the IP again.Do you know if it is possible to restore a backup out of place and keep the network settings without manual modificationsFor windows machines no issue. Thanks !!
We have a VMware vcenter, through which we browse and backup VMs. We would like to backup the appliance, what is the best practise. Using same VMware snapshot backup?
Hi, If a VM has the setting to Disable VSS application quiescing in VMware Tools, will this affect the VADP initiated quiescing through CV VSA backup? Will it at all affect the Filesystem and Application Consistent (quiesced) data protection operation?/Patrik
