Latest v11.28.44.I’m backing up some Windows File iDA agents and some UNC locations to a disk library on a server that is to be retired.The old server had 12 individual volumes each presented as a mount path.We’re using Global DDB and there is about 50TB of physical storage consumed on the old library.The new server is running Server 2022 and ideally I want the disk library under a nice simple “Backups” folder on a single ReFS 64KB cluster size volume on the new MA.Whilst the volumes on the new MA are BitLocker encrypted we’d also like to use Commvault encryption.So what I think I can do is either move the existing mount points to the new hardware but I end up with 12 mount paths under the “Backups” folder or setup a new library with a single mount path and aux copy the data to it and then switch it to primary.Two questions.Which of these is the better option if I want to enable encryption on all the backup storage and wha

Hi all, I just generated two Infrastructure load reports, one for 24 hours and one for a month.While the 24 hours report is giving me a less than 30% CPU usage for most of our mediaagents, the one month report goes up to 70% CPU utilization.In particular, when comparing the last day on the ONE MONTH report with the complete 24 HOUR one, they do not match. I would expect to see an average of the 24 hour usage as the last value in the month report, but I am rather seeing the highest value in those 24 hours being reported in the last day of the month report.Is this correct? Does the one month graph reports only the highest utilization values of each day? (instead of an average of the usage through each day) please advise. Sergio 

Hello Everyone, I would like to understand if SQL AAG(has 6 nodes) can be selected as the source client while configuring a replication group from command center. My customer has a similar set up where the Pseudo AAG client is source and destination is stand alone SQL DB in the replication group. Has anyone worked on a similar configuration, please share your experience.  

Hi all This is more of a roadmap query.We have a POC that requires DB2 Backup/Recovery using Commvault. The caveat is that DB2 is hosted in the Model9 cloud infrastructure. My understanding is that this isn’t supported as yet. One of the other backup products out there is claiming they support this.Is there any available information on this from a Commvault road map?Thanks,Mauro

Hi, I’m seeing a new functionality under SharePoint Plan in the Feature release 2023 (11.30.30)but I can’t find any detail on what's been backup and what can be restored from that backup ?

I am attempting to replicate an existing Storage Policy with some differences associated with Media Agents for the copies. There is a existing setting called Archiver data Retention with a setting of 63 days for certain copies, but looking at the Copy properties for Retention, I am unable to find that setting.As a result, in my replicated Storage Policy, the default Archiver data Retention value is Infinite.Do you know how to set the settings for  Archiver data Retention?  

I have more unattached Azure disk which created ASR, no Azure VM to manage these unattached Azure disk, how to use Commvault to backup these disks?

I can't delete an azure cloud mount point and also the library that this mount point is associated with.When I do the deletion, commvault sends me an authorization email, but the deletion is not performed because the library and the month point are offline.The azure cloud service is no longer active, so I can no longer access the mount point folder. how can I delete the library in this case?

Team,We have very huge environment where we have more number of backup failure which we are trying to fix the issue through automation using REST API.  1.Check the backup status for each client.2.Check if each client is ready(Check Readiness) for backup.3.If readiness getting failed then Recycle the services for each client.4.Resubmit the backup job for each client.5. Post if Resubmit is also getting failed then refer the log cuts Job manager.log and Evmgrs.log to find the failed/error details.Let me know if anything we can add it for other agent based backups like SQL, Oracle or SAP HANA database. Please update some additional steps if any initial troubleshooting using REST API will help us to reduce some failures in our environment.

Recently moved Netapp away from direct dumping to Quantum tape library over FC to leverage CIFS / NFS. Netapp cluster MGMT is on x.x.8.6NDMP client is configured with x.x.8.6 TCP port 10000Netapp has ICL’s in x.x.12.x/24MA has 10GB teamed nic in x.x.12.x/24 and a nic in x.x.8.x/24Client preview completes and can browse volumes and files with the NDMP client no issue at all, when kicking off the backup it goes over the 1G e0M cluster mgmt network as apposed to the ICL network on 10G. Tried adding dips to the MA properties to only talk on x.x.12.x/24  between MA and Netapp Filer Opened additional listening ports the MA in network properties at the client group level though (multiple MA across DC’s) When the backup is running, I can TNC (telnet) from MA to the ICL and it completes the connection on 10000 Can ping from the ICL LIF back to the MA x.x.12.x IP’s no problemCan not for the life of

Is it possible to migrate the data from one storage policy to another?  In turn, also migrating this data if the policies are on separate libraries other than through AUX operations.

Hi All,We have configured OL enabled s3 bucket and configured library and storage pool and policies using that s3 bucket and everything shows online and can be access from commvault console and also using CLI on MediaAgents. we also tested cloud test tool and that works fine too. I am throwing this out to the community  to see if anyone else has had this problem. It is difficult to identify and you have had this happen but have written it off as  not selecting jobs properly.  I selectively Auxcopied data from one disk copy to another.. Basic retention was applied instead of extended retention  and this cause the copied jobs to be aged off prematurely.The retention period and selective copy criteria for both source and destination copy were identical.I was able to recopy the jobs and the retention is now normal.I have raised a ticket with CV and we could not identify the root cause. Troubleshooting was complicated due to the delay between the problem occurring and my identifying it. During that period I was doing lots of weird things that muddied the waters There was a period where I set my destination copy to non active (disabled) and am wondering if this messed up the data aging.

Hello everyone,I have an old CommVault installation that has servers other than my CommServer that are still running SQL Server 2012.  I’m following the documentation to uninstall all the packages, uninstall SQL Server and do the reinstallation.  As per the documentation, I took a screen capture of all the CommVault _packages_ that were installed.  When I run the installer, its asking me to select _roles_ and I have no idea what to check off here.  Is there a way to find out what ROLES I need to select AFTER all the CommVault software has been uninstalled?ThanksKen

I don’t have links, and I don’t want to call anyone out even if I did :) but I’ve read/heard/seen 2 answers this this and am wondering if this applied to all subclients, or there are exceptions, or caveats to deleting subclients.  Which is “true”, assuming you already had some backups existing for a subclient/backups set/application?You can delete subclients all day long, nothing is lost in terms of existing job history/restorability.  The backups/backup jobs/data/references/etc are not associated with the subclient(s) but instead are associated with the backup set that the subclients are in (meaning: the subclients are “children” of the backup set).  When you delete a subclient, it is still ‘visible and accessible for restores” vis the backupset backup historyORDeleting subclients causes loss of the backup job data. We’re running CV11.24.25 with a two-node grid (physical) with CIFS mount paths from a Nexsan Unity that takes secondary copies from MAs that perform backups (no direct backups other than DDB), with a a partition on each MA. We decided to replace this with a four-node (virtual) grid with S3 (NetApp) storage. The four-node grid was set up with a global dedupe policy based on 512KB dedupe block size with a partition on each node. The two-node grid is the standard 128KB dedupe block size.We had ~600TB of back-end storage (~3.3PB of front-end) and have ~1.75PB front-end left to process after about two months of copying. There were 105 storage policies (multi-tenant env) with retentions ranging from 30 days to 12 years (DB, file, VM, O365 apps) with anything higher than 30 days being extended retentions (normally 30 days/1 cycle and then monthly/yearly with extended retention).We do not seem able to maintain any reasonably high copy rates. Hello Commvault Community, I have a question for you regarding 1-Touch Single Stage DVD support for SuSE 12.5. In the article of Commvault documentation below I see that it is not there but in the second article which refers to the standard 1-touch, support for SuSE 12.5 is available. Good day community,We have over 100 Oracle servers for which we’d like to reassociate to a different plan. Is there a way to do in bulk?The only way I found to reassociate is to go in each server’s subclient and reassociate it. We’re talking hundreds of subclients to do one at a time. :-(In the CommCell, it does not let me change the schedule policy to the plan one. :-(Many thanks in advance.
