I have a request to extend the backup job summary report to include information about the schedule from which the job was started. I think I've searched every DB view but can't find any reference from a completed job to the ScheduleID. Can you please give me a reference or explain why this is not saved?

A customer has 4 servers for this windows DFS that uses the same UNC path. The issue is that currently these 4 servers are out of sync. Based on the local configuration/physical location, end users access the namespace via different access nodes/servers. For example, user A has a profile saved on server A, it didn't get synced to server B,C,D; next time user creates a new profile on server B, he would lost everything saved on server A.The customer is seeking solution to consolidate data from 4 servers then migrate a master copy to new servers.I tried to set up network share subclient and backup was successful. When I looked at the backup log it appears that Commvault only use one access node to perform the backup. I know it is more like a sync issue which most likely needs to be resolved before backup but can you please advise if anything can be offered from Commvault? Kind regards,Boyi

Pretty straightforward question. 

We have a client who we need to give a nightly full copy of their MS SQL DB to their azure blob storage.  We have been manually doing this weekly by using MS Azure File explorer to send to them, but they want it nightly.  I have added their Azure blob storage as a library, but I’m unsure how to create a job to do this.  I need to supply them with either a .bak of their DB, or MDF/LDF file that they can use as needed.  Does anyone know of a simple way I can do this?  Thanks.

So - we have a media agent which is a “few” years old and has Windows Server 2012 R2 on it.  It’s been just smashing during its tenure.  However, Server 2012 doesn’t recognize a new SAN recently purchased.  That and the fact that 2012 won’t be supported next year (10/2023) means now’s a great time to upgrade. However, because of driver issues (I believe), no in-place upgrade is being successful.  Basically, I’m looking at a fresh install on the same hardware.The library is stored under a folder on C:, so we’ll call it c:\library\...01, 02, 03, etc.  “01” and such are folders mapped over fiber to various SANS.   Is it possible.. to reinstall the OS, from scratch, and preserve that library?  I’m suspecting a DR recovery method (https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/exp

Hello, I am seeing 3dnfs running on one media agent. We are sharing mount paths on all media agents but not sure why it is running on just one.On that media agent open nfs access is being reported as vulnerability. How do i restrict that access to close the vulnerability?

hello all,wondering whether anyone has seen the specific error:“The snapshot generated from the file scan database is not consistent; the database on this volume should be rebuilt...”This clearly is related to a specific volume (C:\), however the job finished successfully the 1st day, I'm now seeing system state failing.Is the “database” the error refers to, the client metadata db?Cheers,Glen. 

Hi , I have a customer that is exploring if a single HSX cluster can be managed by via 2 different commserve. His second commcell is for a small robo environment . Due to budget issues, he does not has the capital to start a new HSX cluster, hence he is thinking of leveraging an existing HSX cluster that is already tied to commcell A. Wonder if this is possible?

I’m in a bit of a pickle.  My OneDrive backups fail and the solution recommended by CommVault support is to upgrade to the V2 client.  Unfortunately support staff won’t help because the V2 upgrade is not “break / fix” and I don’t have the $$$ to hire CV professional services.  Has anyone upgraded their O365 client from V1 to V2 themselves?  Are there any good websites that walk through how to do this? Any help would be appreciated.Ken

Short question: when VM/server* (vmware) will be excluded from be counted inside license capacity report ? situation A)VM is NOT client in CV. It was just backuped by vmware subclient trough last year and now follow rules is excluded from next vmware backups.  situation B)VM was & is client in CV as  beside to above vmware backup it was also MS SQL (agent) backup done for  it . It it not  backuped by vmware anymore but is still part of MS SQL (agent) backup 

Oracle Archive Log Backups are backed up to a storage policy.  The primary copy’s retention is configured for 30 days with 0 cycles.  The Data Retention Forecast and Compliance Report shows the Archive log is required by the RMAN Full backup which has been aux copied from a primary copy (Disk Library) to a secondary copy (Tape Library).  The Secondary Copy retention is 7 years. I would like for the Log Backup on Disk to follow the primary copy retention of 30 days and expire once 30 days have been met, however it is not expiring since itis required by the Full backup on tape with the longer retention. I had a similar issue with SQL backups where the log backups were not expiring because the log backups were required for the SQL full that had been aux copy to tape with a long 7 year retention.  The setting to correct this behavior is under Storage → Media Management Configuration → Data Aging → and disabling <Honor SQL Chaining for Full jobs on Selectiv

Could someone tell me what the feature is called that keeps the backup admins from being able to access the data being backed up?

CS Version 11.24.78Issue: User ad object was deleted from AD and then deleted from Commvault. Hi, Getting the error below on of our AUX copies - any ideas please? ‘data mover module received data from a client that is not currently backed up by this module’ We’re also getting: ‘Error occurred while processing chunk’

So we have pretty spread out Commvault infrastructure with number of components installed. Excuse me but I am not backup admin or Commvault expert so trying to get my head around this.Commvault version is 11.24.7 which is pretty far behind i believe and hence needs update.What I am having difficulty is things that I need to update apart from Commvault server and it’s DB itself. Already planning updating Commvault to newer version along with SQL DB. But when it comes to media agents, VSA proxies, Exchange agents etc. it gets confusing. When I look at Commcell Console and pull report for Configuration and select Media Agents tab I see many media agents. But when I login to web console and run report for Software Version I see less number of Media Agents. Same server but accessing it differently. I have a query currently that returns a subclient policy ID, but I cannot for the life of me find an association table get the name of the subclient policy.  

According to the documentation, Data aging can be performed on a storage policy with synchronous and/or selective copies defined. Data is aged according to the primary copy retention rule only when all data eligible to be aged is copied to all active copies during an auxiliary copy operation.What happens in terms of Data Aging when a secondary copy is disabled?   

Hi, I tried to perform a an upgrade of Commvault from 11.20 on server 2012 to a different VM on server 2019 running version 11.28 and SQL 2019.  I installed and try to recover from the old database. I am getting an error in the CSRecoveryAssistant file log,  Error: License activation is required. Please provide a valid license file.I am confused as I backed up my existing environment. How can I get past this as the Install is dependant on me clearing this error?
