I'm trying to automate certain tasks by querying the APIs. I first tried the newly released Powershell SDK which turned out to be broken right now. The development team is aware and they stated they will fix it somewhere next week so I decided to continue without SDK and write the modules myself.I'm trying to achieve the following:In case the client is discovered via VSA I would like to know the hypervisor vendor. In case a client is not part of VSA I would like to know if it runs as a virtual instance and preferably I would like to know what kind of virtualization platform. I know Commvault pulls this information from a client using the agent to make the distinction between OI and VOI and also that they can identify the platform but would like to leverage this myself as well and I would expect this information to be available as a client property that can by pulled over via the API. 1)So I already discovered that in case a client

Hi guys,I have been using the CVPowerShellSDK_v1 and was able to create tools and scripts for our team. Now, I would like to move a step further and make my own API Calls with the Invoke-RestMethod in PowerShell but I am having a hard time to get started (disclaimer: I have a backgrouind as a sysadmin, not a web developper). I played around with Postman, API Explorer, I went through the documentation on the subject and tried different ways to interact with APIs in PowerShell but I still haven’t succeeded in retrieving data with a simple GET method. I am at the point where I need a little help from friends to move forward. Hello, We have configured IntelliSnap and backup copy for a VM group, with the original snap residing in NetApp for 7 days/1 cycle and the backup copies residing in HyperScale for 30 days. The job is scheduled to run Daily incremental and weekly synthetic full. The incremental snapshots are being retained endlessly, as the retention is set to 7days/1 cycle and the volume is filling up. Now my questions:I understand that every snapshot created in Netapp is a full as it takes a snapshot of the active file system and marks all the active blocks at the time of the snapshot as read-only so that those blocks cannot be overwritten, so can I reset the snapshot retention to 7 days/0 cycle with the expectation that we will be able to restore the entire VM despite the base full Snapshot being aged off?I have seen intelli snapshot jobs fail owing to an existing backup copy job. Hello,I’m new to commvault so sorry if my question seems pretty ignorant. But we have Email Journaling/eDiscovery - but i’d like to move it to another media agent. I’s like to keep the index server and everything else in place..but just change the storage policy to point to a new media agent.Would it be best to just create a new storage policy and assign the media agent to the new policy or is there a way to just change the media agent on the ediscovery job?Thank you

Looking to start a replication group from a VM and default backupset to a mount path on a dell powerscale. Going forward this volume will be san hosted instead of mounted via a server. Upon looking at the config- i dont see an option. Im away replication groups are agent to agent. I thought about makign a library with the location- but even that doenst allow.

Hi,I’m working with a customer that has an azure policy set that enforces all resources created has a set of custom tags during creation. This stops the VSA of creating a snapshot as expected.Cannot see anything from the documentation on this, but are the Commvault backup process able to set a set of custom tags on the snapshot during backup? Or would they require to disable this policy for snapshots?  

Hello Community, We had some problem with one proxy server and we decided to create a new one in AZURE. Unfortunetly backup on new proxy server is not working for part of VM and backup doesn’t migrate the data after creation snapshot, but for another part machines VM backup is working well without any issue.The machines are in the same subscriptions. We checked almost everything and nothing helped. The case in Commvault MA is opened, but support is not so helpful and clamed that issue is on Microsoft site, but they didn’t recognize where the issue is. In log  file only appears: “17 12:37:02 4409694 VSBkpCoordinator::OnIdle_Running() - Waiting for [1] VMs to be processed. [WFRPARESB019]”and“Failed to get page ranges for the entire blob. Hi,I want to set a storage policy (a plan actually) for Oracle backups. The only thing is customer wants to just provide storage target for RMAN backups but leave actual backup administration in hands of Oracle admins. Oracle team won’t have access to Commvault console, so they need to manage backups with the only tool they know and got which is RMAN. Everything is set, we got plan in place, activity on default and archivelog subclients is disabled, so Commvault won’t run any backups (a plan without scheduler would be nice!), we did some tests and backups work like a charm and the only missing part is data aging. For this setup to work nicely and to give Oracle team what’s theirs I also need to allow them to prune old backups using RMAN so I could set infinite retention on Commvault side (currently it’s 14 days). I’ve set DisableRMANPruning to 0 on Commserve computer and crossed my fingers but unfortunately it is not enough. After running a couple of backups using RMAN comman

Hi, We recently had a customer who tried to connect kubernetes with commvault while using rancher.Everything was configurated and implemented correctly, but the authentication of the account used failed and we cannot seem to find why.We double checked the permissions, groups and authentication token of the user. Everything should be working.What could cause this problem?

Hello Guys, I have two oracle linux servers where i already have licenses to make the backups of oracle bases.I installed the File System functionality to make file backups, however when creating and trying to start a job the following error is presented:“License is not consumed by agent [Linux File System] on client [srv-oracle01].”I've already checked the license summary and don't have any license attention alerts.

Since the other thread was stated as solved I’ll start a new one. From What I understand the Network Throttling on the media agent only effects backup jobs, not Aux copies jobs bandwidth.There is an option to limit the Aux copy bandwidth usage by setting the Advanced setting "Throttle Network Bandwidth(MB/HR)" on the stg policy copy.Unfortunately that effects the usage all day as there is no possibility to set it per time interval.I have two Aux Copy jobs running for two different Storage Policy copies with the setting for bandwidth limitation set to 5000 MB/HR which is roughly 11 Mbit/s.So running two of those shouldn't use more then 22 Mbit/s.Looking at the Current Through put they are 3,92 GB/hr and 2,97 GB/hr in Comccell console. Those combined gives 6,89 GB/hr roughly 15 Mbit/s. I understand that it's not 100% accurate as the data is deduplicated.But looking at our monitoring I see two streams going to Azure one using 30 Mb/s

Im looking at the Reports | Commcell | Health on the webconsole and I see the Health report gives me a 1 Critical notification.  When I click on the Critical notification its giving me the following:  So when I saw that I ran the “DBMaintenance.exe -recommended” command from the BASE directory  I figured I would see a difference in the Date etc on the Report…  Not sure how the Report is getting its info or date.  Still consider myself a entry level commvault user.BTW we are on commvault 11.24.38.Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. ThanksBC  

Hi Commvault People, An interesting issue which cropped up when reviewing our environment recently. Back in the V9 days, Commvault used to provide a shedload of recommended filters, such as **.TMP and all that kind of thing. Subsequently that was added to, based on the customer requirements, such as mdf, ldf for those of us that are using SQL agents. And all of these filters were added into the Global Filters or Cell Level etc.However …. i noticed that in V11, that Commvault will exclude files from backup based on a registry key in windows which has a pre-assembled list of items to be excluded. https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/127043_default_backup_filters_for_windows.html So you don’t have now exclude those old-school V9 filters

Hi, we imported Data from the Mailbox Classic Agent to the newer Mailbox Agent. Now we want to delete the old Client in Commvault. Is this possible or do we lose all the data from the old Agent? Kind Regards Florian 

Hello,We recently moved Commvault/Commcell to a new server (same domain) because the old one did not have enough place on it for the disks backups.We had it installed on a server named SPGEOFS01We moved it (the technician) on new server called SVGEOCVCSNow, the name on the new client still is SPGEOFS01 I want to add the old Commvault server that still exists and was wiped to host data (SPGEOFS01) But I get conflicts since the name has not changed to SVGEOCVCS everywhere and it tells me that the client already exists.Did our technician do something wrong during the switch ? How can I fix this ? He says it can be days before he finds a solution. Thank you for your help,Felix  

Morning,We’ve recently updated from 11.24.34 to 11.24.52, and are receiving “Unable to start SnapDiff V2 session” events.  I see in the patchnotes for 11.24.49 that snapdiff will now attempt v2 before falling back to v1.  Our infrastructure is setup for Snapdiff v1, is there a global setting I can modify to stop the commserve attempting to use SnapDiff v2?  I was unable to find anything with a search of the documentation.Thanks.

A user may have deleted emails, but I do not have specific time as to when.  Is there a way to see the mailbox size for each day it was backed up? 

hi, we have this error on one of our Linux server:clBackupChild...log: ClBackupFile::ReadAndSendFileData(4073) - read(<filepath>) failed error [5]It looks like the filesystem has some issues. The problem is: commvault does not backup the rest of the files, as it get stuck. We have to commit the job.Backup pending: failed to close Metadata file for error [-1]Could not back up [0] folders and [1] files.Is there an option to continue on (a specific) error for one client? Found this advanced option: backupDoNotReportFileError but not sure if this is the right one and also not sure what value is the right for this option.
