When CommVault creates an RMAN backup script it includes a SEND statement with several switches.  I assume it’s sending these switches for CommVault settings.Example:send "BACKUP -jm 32813 -a 2:8033 -cl 4762 -ins 1521 -at 22 -j 28884797 -jt 28884797:4:2:0:54493 -bal 0 -t 1 -ms 4 -data"; I have been searching the documentation high and low and I cannot find a definition for what these switches do.  Does any know or have a link to a doc that tells what all these switches do?

Scenario - Three way NDMP backup from Isilon. The Isilon is using an IP pool of x.x.x.x (eg 192.168.1.1 - .4) for NDMP operations The media agent has a primary IP of y.y.y.y (eg 192.168.2.1). I have put a second IP on the media agent that is in the same subnet as the Isilon, eg 192.168.1.250. This second IP is on a different nic from the primary IP. When I do a backup of the Isilon the job fails due to “network communication error”. When I look at the logs the problem seems to be that the nasbackup command is still using the media agents original primary IP and not the new secondary IP. I have tried setting up DIP/Backup Network pair but the job still fails and the logs show that the media agent primary IP is still being used. Is it possible for the NDMP backup to use a specified ip address for the MediaAgent that is not the primary IP? Hello,We are running an HANA database in a cluster setup, with a primary and secondery Linux machine.I have an problem when doing cross platform restore of an HANA database.We are trying to restore an production enviroment HANA database and restore it from the production Linux machine (host) to a stage/development host / machine.The restore is starting, but it is restoring the database into the secondary machine (host) in the cluster instead of the primary machine.I can describe further and attach screenshot to explain better.Best regardsFredrik AndreassonAxians Linux team

Hi fellow Commvaulters, We’ve launched a restore of an OpenStack instance, which the job failed with the following error : The job has overwritten the Instance, which means that it is now deleted, and we are not able to restore it.Any suggestion of what can be the root cause of the error ? Kind regards. 

If you have one node in pause mode inside a hyper-v cluster and start a backup on a clustershared volume with Intellisnap enabled the job failed because of the node that is in pause mode.Is there an option or solution to work around this?

Hi, I understand that conditions must be satisfied before a failover (CS Livesync) is automatically executed (if enabled)I have a question about this.Does this immediately happen after these conditions are met or does it wait and checks it the conditions a (few) minutes later again before going over?And if that there is some delay, is it configurable? Thanks,Danny

In the following site IntelliSnap Protection for VMs on VVol or VSAN/VxRail Datastores (commvault.com), it is mentioned under Considerations the following point: You can only perform a live browse or restore operation for files on guest VM RAID-5 volumes from a backup copy. File restores for RAID-5 volumes are not supported from a snap copy. Can you please elaborate a bit this sentence? Does it mean that we cannot perform file restore with backup of vSAN datastore if we do not have a backup copy? Why RAID-5 volumes?Thanks & Regards

Hello Community,For sharepoint online apps, we can see a value called “Sites” at the application level (see screenshot 1 - 1746 sites reported) , with a value which is greater than the number of items that are listed and that should correspond to the sites backed up (see screenshot 2 - 1159 items reported).The last backup status for that client indicates that 1159 sites have been backed up (see screenshot 3).So what is the definition for the “Sites” value provided at the top level of the application ?Regards,Pierre

Hi Team, Do we have commvault diagrams library to import and use in gliffy confluence to create backup Estate Arch easily ? I have very old infra arch diagram which was created years back , Now need to update the arch diagrams with commvault devices connectivity so I have Gliffy for Confluence using , if we have commvault defined images library to import will be greatly reduce my time on recreating the  Arch.

Our Proxy is on esx 7.0.3C, we use Pure’s Intellisnap to snap then the proxy mounts the snaps and commvault runs the backup copy. The backup copies are not running and the issue appears to have happened after the esx upgrade from 6.7 to 7.0.3c.

We're interested in creating a new MediaAgent (I'll call it MediaAgent03 or MA03 from now on) in Amazon Web Services, using commvault's "combined storage tier" functionality with S3 Glacier Deep Archive being the coldest (and cheapest) possible data option.This mediaagent would only be used for Data Restores in the event of a catastrophic event in our datacenter where MediaAgent01, our primary onsite MA, is stored. Hello, Is there any report that can show “dependent/additional” media required for media refresh of selected media?

Hi Guys,I want to automatically kill the jobs in job controller, if it is waiting/pending state for more than 24 hours.I am aware that CV having the feature and it can be enabled under control panel > Job management > Job restart (tab). But the pain area is, we need to enable the option for 30+ job types by individually.  Do we any mechanism (workflow/qcommend) to enable the “Total Running Time” alone for all the job types at one shot. Thanks,Manikandan

We recently began onboarding our Office 365 products to being backed up in Metallic. As I understand, Teams data is stored in SharePoint (Team Files), OneDrive (one-on-one group chat files), and Exchange (hidden folders associated with the chats/teams/channels). I would like to know, is Metallic uniquely storing this data separate from the other Office 365 products, or is it pointing to the data in the other products? So if we loose the data from a team, could it be reconstituted from the data that Metallic backs up from the other products, without having to specifically backup a that team? Obviously it would probably be much easier to simply restore the team itself rather than rebuilding the team from data, I am just curious if this is something that is possible.

Hell all,A customer asked me, if it is possible to restore a MS SQL backup to a time e.g. 11.:23:45 (seconds). During restore only minutes are shown. This is necessary to keep database and documents of a document system in sync. As far as I know in Oracle should it be possible.Thank you.

Hi,I’m looking into an issue with a VM that hosts a MySQL database. The MySQL admins are complaining about poor performance during VM Backups. My first guess is quiescing that is potentially causing issues. (Transport Mode is Hotadd)The MySQL database is also being backed up using the MySQL iData Agent. This works without issues. However, the customer also wants a filesystem consistent VM backup and that is where the issue comes in.Looking at the backup details and logs, I don’t see any issues.Any idea what next steps I could take here? I’m looking at the possibility to take a crash consistent snapshot to test my theory.

Hello,I’m looking at upgrading all my Windows file system agents to the same service pack as our management server.I wanted to do this via creating a package and have the package sent to the servers via sccm as some of the servers have to be manually patched.I was wondering if anyone has done this before? any advice would be appreciated. Many Thanks, Craig

Good day all As we know the FR26 upgrade highlights the requirement to upgrade password complexity to Level 3.I’ve gone through all the local accounts (safe to assume the Domain accounts are not queried) and I’m still seeing the alert.I’ve looked to see if there is a way to list which accounts are the problem, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to list them.Does anyone have any solution to this?Thanks,Mauro
