Hi all,We have had a Commvault backup/archive solution for a few years now, Commcell server version11.20.46. Backups are running fine but the Commcell event viewer is showing a repetitive alert message “Commserve failed to process Enterprise Metrics Reporting Server scripts”.We’re not Commvault specialists and don’t really know what Enterprise Metrics Reporting Server is or if it’s something we even need. We’ve certainly never intentionally tried to set up any of the scripts mentioned. Can anyone shed any light on this message and any action required?Thanks, Neil

Hello,I have a Commvault environment where I have 3 VSAs installed and added to the Virtual Server instance to backup and restore my VMs in my virtualized environment. The backup and restore of the VMs works flawlessly except the backup of the VMs with VSA function which throws the following error: “Proxy virtual machine is unable to backup itself”How can I backup VMs with VSA function? I see that if of the 3 VSAs I have the same one fails.Could someone tell me how to do it?Thank you very much!

Hi, we want to Test a Table Restore with a database size is about 1TB.With smaller Database it works.But with the 1 TB DB, the restore hangs. Could this be a Problem with Diskspace for the 3DFS on our Windows Media Server ? Regards,Peter Rupp

(AWS instances)source instances has already Commvault agents and it is backup each day. destination instance has also Sap for Oracle Instance.Is there any ports to open ? Hello, in the log of aux copy job (primary copy(disk storage) to secondary copy (tape library), there is this information: "Reservation Status: No new readers can be allocated, check for additional streams after [900] seconds, pending streams [1]". Can you explain here, what does it mean and possibly how to avoid this? Can this state caused slow backup performance?

Hi,Is there a way to “reset” the ‘Picked for Refresh / Prevented’ status of media? Some media was marked as prevented, and then the auto refresh criteria was changed after. How do I see which of these “Prevented” media should be auto picked now, I can only flip the manually  “prevented” media back to manually “picked” Thanks.

Hello, a new customer that asks for legal hold and archiving for 10 years some data.I sugggest a new Commvault solutionthe site is composed of one active/active VMware cluster splitted on 2 rooms.1 HPE storeOnce on each room to store backups.1 commserve, 2 physical linux media agents (SAN transport mode)he also have an LTO7 maybe a standalone tape :) :) :)  and he want to archive backup for for example 10 years and keep the tape on secure zone.the issueI am not very familiar with tapes, any help would be appreciated.to be honest I doubt that a standalone tape drive can do long term/legal archiving :) :) :) Thanks !   

Hi, I have a customer that would like us to detail the hardware & architecture required to use Activate (Sensitive Data Governance) on the existing backup job data within their Commvault solution. The solution needs to be able to index and analyse 4PB of file system application data stored within the archive and backup deduplicated storage pool. The solution would also need to scale to support a live crawl of the file system data on the servers in the future. The current architecture has a limit of 160TB per node. Hi.I have a lot of jobs to copy to tapes.I´m doing it but it is taking too much time, because each copy is using one tape. There are copies with a lot of images, and I have 6 drives to use. I want to use more than one drive at same time to copy this images.Any idea?Thanks.

Hi I have an LTO7 tape library that is giving us more and more issues.  Our plan is to replace it with cloud storage instead of replace the tape. Is it possible to ‘redirect’ the jobs from the tape copy policies that haven’t yet been written to tape over to a cloud policy?  The “Media Not Copied” for the tape storage policy. 

Hi,we’re using some role based permission in our commvault environment to enable access to basic backup/restore functions. Normal file restores via CommCell Console war working fine, but when the admin tries to do a 1-touch recovery I can see a “permission denied” in the event viewer and he gets a “failed” on his restore.Which permission are necessary to do a 1-touch recovery?Janko

We have traditionally pulled chargeback from our metric server through SQL connection. We have a new commcell that does not have an internal connection to the corporate network. How can I get chargeback from it? Is there an API connection that we can do to the report on cloud.commvault.com?

Hello everyone,There is a node which belongs to  daily_filesystem storage policy and the primary copy retention set to 35 days. Now, there is a requirement from the customer to keep specific folders with 550 days retention.Can somebody please guide me the steps. As per my understanding, I have to create a new copy in daily_filesystem storage policy with 550 retention and in Associations tab add the node’s specific folder. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated. ThanksAmit

Hi all,in Master Drive Pool Properties there is set Drive Allocation Policy to Use All Drives. In our case, we have 4 drives fully accessible. However, only 2 drives are in use. Is it possible that this settings is somehow and somewhere overriden? Is there way to figure out why are some of the drives idle? There is a lot of running jobs accros the multiple storage policies so it would be good to utilize all drives. 

Hello guys, a simple question:Is it possible to access my Commcell Console using another computer and/or server where my Console is not installed? For instance: I need to access the Commcell Console and make something inside (see if there’s any error, configure a Schedule Policy specific) and everytime I need to access the CommServe Server and this in my case is something a little annoying to do,  . I was thinking in install the Commcell Console in my computer and if I need to make anything specific in the CommServe I could connect using it, but I don’t know if this is possible and if it is okay to do, too. Thanks, 

All,Within Commvault console, we use the quick access tools feature a lot.That’s very handy, and is an added value. (we also use similar things as workflows)Despite it’s so usefull, it’s also causinng use headaches and spontaneous hair loss.As long as you use a simple command, it works fine. but as soon as you use “|” , “$” in the oneliner, that becomes problematic. Especially when using powershell, where that is used a lot.The documentation on quick access tools is very limited, hence my question over here:What is the official way to use    ‘ , “ , | , & in the command / parameter of the quick access tool. What is the escape character?   

I do full backups of production servers on Friday night and non-production servers Saturday night.  Every Monday my inbox has roughly 20 anomaly emails about aux copy jobs running longer than usual.  This has been going on for months now.  Is it possible to tweak the anomaly thresholds in CommVault so I get fewer emails?Ken
