God day! I deleted some backup jobs to get the Air Gap usage below the purchased capacity again. How soon will this be reflected in the “Storage Utilization By Application - Report” and the “Usage summary”? Right now both views show indeed different figures for holt and cold storage. Thanks, Chris
For VADP backup: Sublient A is configured with 20 VMs; if I create a new subclient B and remove/split the content of the subclient A to ex. 10 VMs per sublient (same SP).Will this trigger full backup on subclient B? or it will continue with incrementals.
I would like to inquire about the specific permission or role that restricts non-master users from manually modifying the backup job retention settings in the storage policy. We would prefer not to enable the WROM option.
Hello CommunityI have a customer who would like to see the backup jobs of a database backup. However, the VM on which this database is running is assigned to another company. Is there a way to make these backup jobs visible to the customer?RegardsThomas
we have some DB server without archive enabled , how do we take backup for those , getting error while running says archive directory not found , in this can which backupset to be configured , file system or dump
Hi, Does a metrics server have it’s own Commcell or is it just a client to a Commcell that it;s collecting data from ? I’m trying to work out if the metric server needs a regular DB maintenance run - thanks for any advice.
Hello, Is there a way to set the below value globaly to be higher than the default ( 10K ) ? The Page Size option allows you to specify the number of objects to be displayed in the browse window. You can browse through each page list by selecting the appropriate page number in the Browse window. Once the default is changed, it uses the same page size which was used in previous browse request until changed again. In the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > Agent. Right-click a backup_set or subclient, then click All Tasks > Browse and Restore. From the Restore Options dialog box, click the Advanced Options tab. Enter a value for Page Size. Click View Content. Thanks

I scheduled FS backup to run at 6pm and created a blackout window between 6am and 5:50pm for weekdays. This is a large backup (many TBs) and it wont be finished for weeks. The idea is that the running backup job that started at 6pm will run to 6am the 2nd day. Then it goes into queue state and resumes automatically at 6pm. However backup jobs continue to run after 6 am in the morning and I have to manually stop it. After some research I found below. https://documentation.commvault.com/11.20/blackout_window.html "If any operations are already running within the time window, then the operations are not affected. The window rules are applicable only to the new operations that start after the time window." Is there a way to achieve what I need?
Hi community,we have a lot of LTO9 tapes with only few Index Jobs on them (Jobs are in megabyte range) and I would like to re-use these LTO9 tapes (17.58 TB) for other tape-out copies. When these jobs will expire, nobody knows. Is there any way to copy still valid index jobs to another tape?Pick for refresh, tape to tape copy…?Thanks
Hi all!I am coming to you with another question 😥 We are trying to bring back full functionality of our VSA proxy agent in OLVM enviroment. So far we do have 6 servers in OLVM, they are running on Oracle LInux, but in different version, just please have a look: As you can, they do have 8.5 and 8.10 version, we do have also updated 4 of them to match our CV version. But even if we do have updated some of them, and some of them are not been updated, please see which of them are possible to be chosen as proxy for VM restore: as can be seen i am able only to chose the ones with 8.5 Oracle Linux (older version). Even if one of them still have older CV version. In other topic, someone has provided me a documentation link and it seems that all verions within 8.X and 9.X should be supported. Worth to note - those machines are all in the same groups, so its should not be a problem. As far as i remember we do have had to “downgrade” to 8.5 in a past to get this to work, but it seems that even a
Hello All, For the past 2 weeks, we have been experiencing the following issues. All IntelliSnap operations are extremely slow. This affects VMware, Volume Snapshot and Exchange. We use IntelliSnap for this and have NetApp storage behind it. Globally, the behavior is the same everywhere. Locations with OnTap 9.15 and also OnTap 9.11. Not only individual locations are affected, but all of them.Even sites with their own physical media agents. In other words, the error occurs everywhere. We have tried everything. The Commserv is not overloaded. It has 4 socks and 16 cores.128GB RAM. The SQL database is also not busy or extremely overloaded. What steps did I take:- Moved Commserv to another VMware cluster.- DB Maintenance- Installed SQL and Windows updates.Started a job, same phenomenon. Our network team has carried out all kinds of performance tests. No abnormalities.Commserv and media agents are in the same VLAN.The support team has opened 2 cases and filed them under VMware and File Snapshot.
I would like to know if there are ways to restrict restoration user permission from AUX copies and only allow the restores from the Primary copy.
Azure Data Studio is currently installed on all of our CommServe / Standby CommServe instances, likely as part of the SQL Management Studio installation. While I can see reference to Azure Data Studio within the “Third Party Applications Installed by the Commvault Installer” page, I haven’t found anything to suggest it is actually required. Can it just be uninstalled?
Hi All,We are using the File Agent on our Windows File servers to archive data, to free up disk space, so that it leaves a stub behind to allow the users to open the file if they need to. Over time due to mergers and acquisitions the client may have changed so we now have data archived under a number of clients. This means that when we need to restore and rehydrate the data back to the current client or perform an out of place restore to another client we have to:Restore the stub files from the backupset. Run the gxhsmutility against the stub files to create a mapfile. This creates a map file with each subclient ID number. Run a restore from each of the corresponding archiveset subclient IDs of the original clients that the data was archived under. We are finding that when we have to recover a large amount of data which has been archived the mapfile can be very large and using the mapfile crashes the Commvault software. After raising this with Commvault Support we have been advised to s
Is there a way to register clients from the console that are on the other side of a gateway and have no direct access to the Commserver? We are planning to install decoupled packages before a migration and thoguht would be easier for use to be able to add the clients vs having to log into the 100s of servers to run the “simcallwrapper.exe” command on each server.
Sql always on Admin can no longer see incremental backup in SQL management studio, only see full backups Are there any special settings?
if i put the file system archive the for 60 days , how does commvault retention works ? is it like what ever file deleted from the fileserver will be kept for 60 days or whatever it archived will be kept for 60 days
Hi Vaulters, We recently installed CommServe version 11.36.6 on Linux (Rocky) and configured our libraries. However, we noticed that the CommServe DR backup is not running automatically with its default schedule (Daily at 10:00 AM). In previous versions, we were able to adjust this through the CommServe DR storage policy and its default schedule policy in the CommCell Console.Since version 11.36 only provides access to the Command Center, we can’t check the CommServe DR storage policy or locate the default schedule. This has left us a bit stuck. From the screenshot below, you can see there’s no option to view the schedule or the CommServe DR storage policy. Even through the CLI, we confirmed that the storage policy and schedule exist.Any tips on correctly configuring the CS DR backup to run with its default Storage Policy and Schedule? We’d prefer to avoid creating a dedicated Plan or making additional customizations.Regards.

Dear All, I would like to see your kind advice on the CV cloud storage issues. With CV cloud no longer offer unlimited data storage, how do you manage the storage size? Currently i have 29 TB of data (365 email, sharepoint, onedrive, where 80% of the storage used is from 365 email). The above is 3 years plus of data, my current retention policies is unlimited. Max that i can set is 7 years due to business requirement for certain group of users. Other users i can set a shorter retention policy. But CV cloud doesn’t allow setting different retention policy for different group of user. How do you all Manage the backup size Store your backup, do you use other storage for your CV cloud?

Configuring a schedule policy that follows;INC - everyday (except the 15th)Synthetic Full on the 15th with Run Incremental Before SF The issue I am seeing is that, first when I initially create the schedule policy, I can actually see the option to run INC before SF and I select it as desired. When I got back to review my settings, the “Run Incremental Backup” is not selected anymore and its grayed out preventing me from selecting it. AM I missing something here? This is for File System *Windows and Linux and CS Version 11.32.76Thanks
