Hi Vaulters, We recently installed CommServe version 11.36.6 on Linux (Rocky) and configured our libraries. However, we noticed that the CommServe DR backup is not running automatically with its default schedule (Daily at 10:00 AM). In previous versions, we were able to adjust this through the CommServe DR storage policy and its default schedule policy in the CommCell Console.Since version 11.36 only provides access to the Command Center, we can’t check the CommServe DR storage policy or locate the default schedule. This has left us a bit stuck. From the screenshot below, you can see there’s no option to view the schedule or the CommServe DR storage policy. Even through the CLI, we confirmed that the storage policy and schedule exist.Any tips on correctly configuring the CS DR backup to run with its default Storage Policy and Schedule? We’d prefer to avoid creating a dedicated Plan or making additional customizations.Regards.

Dear All, I would like to see your kind advice on the CV cloud storage issues. With CV cloud no longer offer unlimited data storage, how do you manage the storage size? Currently i have 29 TB of data (365 email, sharepoint, onedrive, where 80% of the storage used is from 365 email). The above is 3 years plus of data, my current retention policies is unlimited. Max that i can set is 7 years due to business requirement for certain group of users. Other users i can set a shorter retention policy. But CV cloud doesn’t allow setting different retention policy for different group of user. How do you all Manage the backup size Store your backup, do you use other storage for your CV cloud?

Configuring a schedule policy that follows;INC - everyday (except the 15th)Synthetic Full on the 15th with Run Incremental Before SF The issue I am seeing is that, first when I initially create the schedule policy, I can actually see the option to run INC before SF and I select it as desired. When I got back to review my settings, the “Run Incremental Backup” is not selected anymore and its grayed out preventing me from selecting it. AM I missing something here? This is for File System *Windows and Linux and CS Version 11.32.76Thanks

We recently upgraded to 11.36 and quite a few workflows are now having issues. One thing I noticed is that embedded XML is not being properly evaluated it when I look at in in the debugger. I have the instance properties stored in a map and in the XML I extract the properties, which I assume should be evaluated at runtime. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><App_UpdateInstancePropertiesRequest> <association> <entity> <instanceId>java:{workflow.getVariable("instanceProp").get("instanceId")}</instanceId> </entity> </association> <instanceProperties> <instance> <instanceId>java:{workflow.getVariable("instanceProp").get("instanceId")}</instanceId> </instance> <oracleInstance> <useCatalogConnect>true</useCatalogConnect> <catalogConnect> <userName>java:{workflow.getVariable("instanceProp").get("oracleSID")}</userName> <domainName>xpath:{/workflow/confi
Hi, could you please help me with this? We are using the following workflow already preconfigured in Commvault: Demo - Client Group Policy. We need to automatically change the Storage Policy of the SQL Job on a daily basis to meet the copy requirements. The only customization we need is to modify the workflow so that it changes the Storage Policy on all SQL instances and not just the first instance. I really appreciate your support! @Mike Struening @chrisknows can you help me please? 🙏🏻😳
Hi, I have some clients that failed in the synthetic full backup.I’m getting the following error, incremental and full backups work as expectedError Code: [23:90]Description: Failed to open or read at least one item.Source: ilrtmcvma01, Process: SynthFullany suggestions?
We have many branch offices with auxcopy jobs running regularly onto a local standalone tape drive. As we don’t know exactly when someone is swapping the tape on site, the schedule runs continous every two hours. This results in many jobs in waiting state with “Media is already assigned” messages which also appear in our Event reporting for these jobs every 5 minutes.Besides the reporting I got told (and also verified) that the drive constantly ejects the tape and pulling it back every 5 minutes in which results in additional wear. I was wondering if there is some option to just stop the job if there is a full tape already detected in the drive.I tried out some options like “Do not attempt to load ejected media” or “check for media change in drive every X minutes” but nothing seems to impact this behaviour. Is there something I am overlooking here?
Hello We are using Exchange Mailbox archiving with +10 year retention. For a couple of years we have been using Content Indexing for these jobs, but it’s not needed any more. We have disabled CI and it’s valid for next archiving jobs, but how to clean up previous Content Indexing entries (without deleting archiving jobs)? We would like just to free up space on CI disks as it’s not required any more. As far as I know this procedure - https://documentation.commvault.com/11.20/deleting_content_index_of_specific_backup_job.html - points to Indexing V1 and we don’t have such option in our job history menu. Kind regards,Maciek
Hello everyone,I am currently facing challenges while attempting to restore the CommServe database on a new host following the Disaster Recovery procedures outlined in Commvault's documentation. Below are the details of my setup, the steps I followed, and the errors encountered during the process.Context:Commvault Version: 11.28 Operating System: Windows Server 2012 R2 Source Server: Original CommServe is no longer functional. Target Server: New host configured to take over as the production CommServe. Target Operation Systeme : Windows Server 2019 SQL Instance: azur1-mybackupservertarget\Commvault DR Backup Files Path: D:\Migration Commvault lab\DR\SET_14395I am using the CSRecoveryAssistant.exe tool in "Recovery" mode to restore the database. While most steps appear to complete successfully, I encounter critical errors during post-recovery operations that prevent the restoration from finalizing.Steps Followed:Configured the new server as the production CommServe. Stopped all Commvau
Hi Team,I have an interesting scenario. After a lot of persuasion, one of our customers is considering a retention-reduction on non-critical data. But they have asked me if I can work out how much disk space may be returned by this process. The data is deduplicated. So the question I have:-Does anyone know of a report which can show disk space returned for deduplicated data? This might not be as straightforward as it sounds, since I will need to work with 20 or 30 clients, delete data that is over than a few months old but somehow collect details on expected space-savings, or disk-space to be returned.it would be interesting to hear if anyone else has had a similar scenario and how you managed to obtain the figures (if this is actually possible). Thanks
HelloWe are using exchange database agent to backup the dag.We have the next setting enabled:"Optimize for message level recovery".Now when we try to restore messages it only gives us an option to restore as a pst file. Is there a way to restore directly to the mailbox?
Hi, We are on 11.32.59. We have DDB configured on storage pool with storage as netapp storage grid. We have maximum storage policies with 30 days retention and one storage policy with one year retention. All using the same storage pool..We are planning to enable the WORM storage lock. What is Impact of WORM storage lock on storage growth?I read in the 11.28 BOL that the seal frequency will be set same as Max retention and WORM lock is set to (retention days+seal freq) days.https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/configuring_worm_storage_mode_on_cloud_storage.htmlWe are trying to understand approximate storage growth on existing library. Can any one please advise.
Sorry but the circular looping and vagueness of this topic has be a bit baffled as to the instruction on this page which says “ Create a dedicated, non deduplicated storage policy for the LiveSync operation. Create the storage policy using a MediaAgent available in the standby site. “. Then on this page “ A Commvault created default server plan for CommServe LiveSync uses a non-deduplication storage and a worm copy. To use a server plan other than the default, ensure that you are using a non-deduplication storage. “Well, I have installed the second instance on the primary and both instances on the standby but where does this “dedicated” SP come into play? What if I don’t have an MA in the “standby site” as the goal is to just have the failover capability for the CS, not actual DR needing a dedicated MA?If I already have a non-deduped SP which could be used for LiveSync - can that be used or does it have to be dedicated? I mean if reusing an SP is OK then why would the docs say you need
hi guys, i just deploy a hyperscale with :2 x1gbe - bond1- management network2 x 10 gbe - bond2 - data protection network 2 x 10 gbe - bond3 - storage network the customer configured the data protection network on the esxi nodes like - commvault-backup network (kernel adapters) the commserve runnning on the pre-installed (ova) appliance on the Management Network and we deployed a linux access node (ova) on vsphere infra and configure the eth0 on the Management Network, but all backups now run maximum like on 1gbe network. What is best practices ? deploy access node on the data-protection network ? (im using hotadd) or add secondary adapter to linux access node? thank you
Hi all! I am trying to expand my knowledge as much as possible!Unfortunately, I do not have access to any kind of lab environment within my employer's structure...So, my idea was to create a small Commvault environment within my home lab—I do have a small home setup. The problem is the license. I would like to experiment with media agents, storage configurations, schedules, and other features—basically, most of Commvault’s functionalities. However, the very first issue I encountered is that I cannot even use the Commvault CommCell Console without applying a valid license…Is there a way to aquire any kind of lab/test license for home lab?
Hi,when creating PLANs in CommandCenter, I’m not able to verify the parameters used for the backup frequencies entered, in the audit trail report. If modifying backup frequencies of a PLAN, the modifications done do not show up in the audit trail. Is there a special setting available/required to make configuration changes done via CommandCenter fully visible in the audit trail ?(running on 2023e / V11.32.71)rgdsKlaus
hi, we have s3 compatible cloud storage and we have multiple customers in a single commcell each with their own cloud bucket. Sometime the space on the storage is reclaimed only when space reclamation is run. According to your document that says - “Use the space reclamation feature to reclaim idle space on non-supported sparse files storage” - how can I find if our cloud supports this or not. Only our disk storage mount paths say “supports sparse” or “not support sparse” but there is no such thing for cloud mount path. Why data aging does not clear up the space and needs space reclamation to clean up. how often should I run this?

Hello guys, I have a question, for tape to tape copy for speed is very slower than disk to tape is this true?here the tape to tape copy is still in 1 library but when disk to tape it gets a throughput of 600-800 while tape to tape is only 20GB/HrThanks
Hi, A customer is using 1hrs RPO for inc file backup using a Plan. The want to set a specific start-minute to avoid collision with other activities. Is this possible in Command Center or do we need to request Commcell Consloe to create a separate Schedule Policy for this? /Patrik
Hello Commvault,is there a plan to support “virtualize me” on OLVM and RHV ?regards Juergen
