Where can I start downloading the Security Advisories CV_2026_07_5, CV_2026_07_8, and CV_2026_07_8? Thank you Arturo.
Hi:I would like to to know if the RPO and RTO data shown in the reports (https://cloud.commvault.com/commandcenter/#/softwareStore/10370Command Center) from Command Center are generated based in real data (I mean, based on true recovery times from the customer) or are calculated using AI or other ways. I will appreciate more details and if someone has experience with this report, and also if the report was useful. Thanks,Paul
Hello,I have an HSX storage increased a lot from June to JulyThe storage is a destination for:primary copies secondary copies from another HSX secondary copy for cloud copyWhat is the best way to determine what caused this growth?I tried multiple report but I didn’t find any cause.the capacity license is still the same between June and JulyThanks !
Hello, guys I want to perform a secondary copy to tape, and be able to write the data to tow tapes at once, Same data must be written to tow different tapes that belong to two different pools (main pool and copy pool). The idea is to be able to have mirroed data on tapes that will be stored on different sites (customer policy). Data must be read once from primary store (source) and write at same time to diferent tapes.Customer has a library with 3 drives. Any idea?Regards.
I have a interesting issue. My AUX copy streams are capping out at 180 GB/h despite having multiple 10 GB WAN links. I see this issue on a Storage Policy that has dedupe and compression disabled.(due to large unique data being backed up). Does anyone by chance have a storage policy with no dedupe or compression? I am really curious to know what speeds you are seeing on your AUX copy streams. I feel like these should be able to go faster, but having a hard time convincing support that there is something in CV that is restricting it.We have set the nNumPipelineBuffers set to 900 already. Our Dedupe AUX copies run amazing since there are so many streams for it to work with.
Can someone confirm whether when staging the DB the Command Center isn’t usable by design? The Console works but I can’t seem to get the web UI to load (Please wait while our servers start up. This may take a few minutes.). curl returns the fact it’s running. I replaced the signed certs and all that but it seems it just doesn’t function so I’m wondering if that is expected behavior.thanks
We currently have a self-hosted Commvault environment running version 11.36.The CommServe and MediaAgent are installed on the same physical Windows server. The same server also hosts the existing MediaAgent components, including the DDB, Index Cache, Disk Libraries, Mount Paths, Data Paths. The customer’s main requirements are:Minimum operational risk Minimum downtime No unnecessary CommServe name or IP updates on the clients The existing physical server must remain in service as the MediaAgent after the separationOur planned approach is to first upgrade the existing combined CommServe/MediaAgent server from 11.36 to the latest approved 11.40 Maintenance Release. The upgrade and the separation will be performed as two separate changes, with a stabilization and validation period between them.Planned Final ArchitectureNew virtual server:CommServe only Receives the original CommServe hostname Receives the original CommServe IP addressExisting physical server:Remains as the MediaAgent Receiv
Hi together,In Veeam, there is a feature called "Secure Backup" which is a service for DRP audits (backups recoverability is tested). Does anyone know this feature and can tell me if there is a similar function in CommVault?I have not found one yet (Version 11.24.94).thanks in advance for your answers and best regards Pascal
I am looking for stencils that can be imported into draw.io to build backup diagrams and environments for documentation purpose. Is this something Commvault has available to customer? If so, can you send a link for download please?Thank you
Just wanted to validate this...I’ve been chatting with Arlie and trying to get a proper “list of steps” to add a new mount point (in an existing library) to media agent “A” and then to share that with Media agent “B”. All Media Agents are Windows. It seems the steps (not all from Arlie) are:Media Agent A: Add storage and mount drive (say L:\). Format Disk as GPT, and 64KB allocation. Media Agent A: “Share” L:\… using a service account as “browse/read/write”. The share is now like “\\A\sharename” Media agent B: Map that Share as UNC (“\\A\sharename”) as drive L:\, using the same service account. I presume also set it to “auto connect at sign-in” so the mount point does not go away on reboot. In Java console, choose storage library → Add Mount Path. Choose media agent A and drive L:\, Pick mount path and choose “Share” with Media Agent B and make it read/write. Looks like I need to input the service account/credentials here too. Additionally, I may need to select “Transport type: Regular
Is there a Commvault requirement for Active Directory Delegation allowed?
Hi Community,I am encountering an error when attempting to download the new Maintenance Release (LTS) directly into the CommServe Software Cache using the Download Software feature. Here are the details of the failure:Error Code: 68:585Process: Download SoftwareSource: commserver
11.40 code - I have ran into an issue where the local break glass account is unable to be used when SAML is enabled. This apparently is due to the fact that the email associated with the local account is in fact in the IdP and once it detects that, there’s no way to “cancel” the redirect. Is there no way to disable SAML for specific accounts regardless of whether the email account exists in the external IdP?Since the email is a required field for all accounts and having a valid email for such an account makes sense BUT you have to have it syncing in order to actually authenticate and manage that mailbox, seems like a catch-22. Security prefers SSO. Plus if the external provider is unavailable for whatever reason, nobody, even the break glass account can login.I do have a case open with this but so far we haven’t found a solution.
Hello everyone,For the past few days, I’ve been working with a Commvault engineer to disable the compliance lock on the Storage Policy. There was some obsolete data that wasn't expiring—possibly because we didn't have secondary copies, or because some items were linked to other data that hadn't yet completed its lifecycle. Anyway, the data was deleted, but the change wasn't reflected in the storage yet. To be certain, is it best to validate this via the library or the Storage Pool? Could you please advise?
Hi Commvault Community,We are backing up Proxmox Virtual Machines using Commvault.During the backup process, we observe that a snapshot is created on the Proxmox VM storage. The snapshot appears to consume storage space approximately equal to the VM disk size. For example:VM Disk Size: [300 GB] Proxmox Storage Type: [LVM-thin / ZFS / Ceph / NFS / iSCSI / Other] Commvault Access Node: Physical Server Backup Type: Full / Incremental Storage Backend: [SAN/NAS/Local Storage]During the Commvault backup, the Proxmox snapshot is created on the same storage where the VM disk resides. We would like to understand:Is it expected behavior for the Proxmox snapshot created during a Commvault backup to consume storage close to the provisioned VM disk size? Does Commvault use a standard Proxmox snapshot or another snapshot mechanism? Is there a way to configure the snapshot to use a different storage location? Does Commvault support storage-level snapshots for Proxmox? What is the recommended configur
NetApp is currently selling the successor to the ASA (SAN Only), the ASAr2, at an attractive price. Basically, it is a system from the ONTAP family, like the FAS or AFF systems. Unfortunately, the API has changed considerably, and Commvault does not yet support the ASAr2 API. I’ve heard that integration is being worked on. Is there a timeline for this?We have a few projects where Commvault (new customer) and NetApp would be a good combination.
Hello All;I found this topis: An I have similar problem in with Data Domain, in the logs I found taht StorageAcceleratorAutoDisabledUntiland i have a question:Where I can found exactly this keys on Linux and Windows systems? We are in the unfortunate process of migrating from VMware to Hyper-V. We are in mid migration and I am finding that the snapshots are taking longer and longer. Normally snaps are about 15 to 30 min. Now they are taking over 5 hours for a quiesced snapshot. After the snapshot is done, the Backup Copy runs quickly. During the Snapshot job, I see lots of log messages about CHyperVInfo2::RunParallelVMSnapshotTask() - No available thread found for creating software snapshot of virtual machine XXXXXXXX. I can not find any setting for the number of threads that Commvault will use to talk to Hyper-V. I have had a support call open for a bit but not felling like it is making any progress. This feels like it should be a 101 type question. Does anyone else have delays with their Hyper-V snapshots?
Hello Commvault Team,We are designing a Commvault backup architecture for an OpenShift GPU environment and would like to confirm the supported network architecture. Our environment has the following network connectivity: The CommServe and MediaAgent can communicate with the Access Node. The Access Node can communicate with the CommServe/MediaAgent, OpenShift API Server, and OpenShift Worker Nodes. The OpenShift Worker Nodes cannot directly communicate with the CommServe or MediaAgent. The Worker Nodes are connected only to the OpenShift Service Network and do not have connectivity to the Backup Network. The Access Node has connectivity to both the OpenShift Service Network and the Backup Network. We are considering using the Commvault Command Center Network Topology feature to control the backup communication path. Our desired backup data flow is:OpenShift Worker Node / Backup Pod → Access Node → MediaAgent → Backup StorageIn this architecture, we would like to avoid requiring di

Hello Commvault Team,We are currently using Commvault 11.44 to protect Red Hat OpenShift environments.According to the current compatibility matrix, Commvault 11.44 supports OpenShift up to version 4.21. We would like to ask if there is any roadmap or estimated timeline for supporting OpenShift 4.22.Many enterprise customers prefer to deploy and operate EUS (Extended Update Support) versions of OpenShift because of their long-term stability and extended support lifecycle. As a result, timely support for new EUS releases is very important when planning production upgrades.Could you please advise:Is OpenShift 4.22 support currently planned for Commvault 11.44 (or a future maintenance release)? If so, is there an estimated timeframe for when support will become available?Based on previous OpenShift releases, how long does it typically take after Red Hat GA for Commvault to officially certify and support a new OpenShift version? We understand that compatibility testing and validation require
I have a customer running 11.40 and Commvault now has the combo tiers for cloud storage configured by default. My question resides in which tier the bucket should be created. The customer had previously created a bucket in AWS (this may come into play later) that was used to create a Cloud Library in Commvault using the AWS Glacier Deep Archive tier. When examining the data in the bucket, we can see the CHUNK data is written to Glacier Deep Archive however, the index metadata is showing under Glacier Instant Retrieval. This seems wrong to me.I have read that Commvault will apply an Amazon storage class header to every upload API call and then writes the data to the bucket, which is part of what is allowing the CHUNK data to be written to one tier with the index metadata to another tier. I’m starting to believe that the storage class header only is being applied to the CHUNK data and the metadata is using whichever storage tier the AWS S3 bucket was created with. Documentation doesn’t m
Hello Commvault Community,I am currently working on a project where the client requires us to confirm compatibility between Commvault and Red Hat OpenShift.According to the official Commvault documentation, Release 11.44 officially supports OpenShift up to version 4.21. However, we would like to know if OpenShift version 4.22 works properly with Commvault 11.44 despite not being officially listed yet. Has anyone in the community tested or run backups/restores on OpenShift 4.22 using Commvault 11.44? If so, did you encounter any issues or limitations? Any insights, feedback, or shared experiences from your actual implementations would be greatly appreciated as we need to verify this for our customer's project requirements.Thank you!
We are running into this wired issue infra stack is vmware 7, vmware 8, 2 instances of Commvault one with vm proxies used for VMWARE 7 another one is HSX with HSX nodes for VMWARE 8. Datastore is on pure storage. We are in transit and evenrutally migrate to HSX This is happening on both the environments V7 and V8 (separate cv instances) The issue we run into is that when there are open snapshots; the Intellisnap backup randomly goes into hung state; where in it gets stuck during the phase(pre hardware snapshot phase) where VMWARE snapshots are taken and deleted and never proceeds into taking the storage snapshot; as a result the next morning there are open snapshots on all the VMs for that job during production hours which I then manually cull using a powershell script. What I don’t understand is how does manual deletion works (using a script) when Commvault support says they are getting timeout in the logs when trying to delete the snapshot and that could be the issue.
