Does File Recovery Enabler for Linux require SSH in order to function? If not, is there a way to disable this? If this is by design then just looking for an explanation for why this is enabled. Thanks.
We have a customer with a number of Oracle RAC instances. The backups are configured to a plan to run at 20:00 every night with Archive logs to run hourly.What we’ve noticed is that when the DB schedule starts, the Archive logs do at the same time. One of the two jobs on the same DB (DB backup/Archive log) will go into a waiting state. When one job finishes, the ‘waiting’ job won’t initiate. You need to suspend and resume it. It seems that something in that process (RMAN?) doesn’t seem to automatically initialise.There are a few things I’ve configured which have helped, but not totally solved the issue.I’ve enabled the option to ‘queue jobs if other conflicting jobs are active’ in the client’s Job Configuration tab.Is there anything else I can set to allow the jobs to not get stuck in this state and if they do, to auto restart?Thanks,Mauro

Create a RAC pseudoclient that includes all the Exadata nodes. Run the backups on the pseudoclient. The backups are performed using RMAN scripts. MediaAgents cannot be installed on Exadata database machines. They communicate with the Exadata nodes using an InfiniBand network during the backup.
Hi,This is my first attempt to resolve some problem using Workflows.I have a default subclient that backup all DBs on Windows SQL using SQL agent.The attached schedule policy runs full daily at 9 PM and then tlogs every 2 hours.The problem is that a pre and post script has to be run on the client before every full backup, but not during tlogs backup, so I cannot use the pre/post script tab in the subclient properties. Is it possible to create a workflow that will monitor this subclient activity and if the CommCell is trying to run the full backup, the workflow will pause it, run the script, wait until is finished and resume the backup, and run the post script at the end, but when is backing up tlogs, will bypass both scripts? Sorry if I am overcomplicating things, if there is a simpler solution, all welcome to share it :) Thanks,Marcin
Hello,I have an issue with HyperScale x Installation - I’m installing HyperScale x with 3 nodesThe customer planned to connect all data protection and storage pool to 25g portsbut they doesn’t have all the equipmentCan I connect 2 nodes with 25g port and the last node connect with 10g portsand in month just change the cables and the SW configuration (after I will put the third node in maintenance)there is no documentation that address this situation - but it supposed to be OK, right? Here is the situation: Primary copy - main siteSecondary Copy - DR site Tape Copy - DR Site We are doing Aux copy from Primary > Secondary and Secondary > TapeWe got alot of errors reading chunks when doing Aux to Tape. we noticed that those jobs fail to restore from Secondary copy also , on Primary site , jobs can restore Can i mark chunks/jobs as bad on secondary copy and have commvault recopy the jobs INCLUDING the bad chunks from Primary copy again and not save bad chunks due to dedup ?
Dear Team, I have question about aux copy moving. My daily aux copy size on all storage policies around 1 TB but we have 60mbps peer to peer link primary site to DR site. It's not enough to transfer that size of data daily. There for we have created backlog of data daily. This time we cannot increase link. Do we have any method to copy the data to the DR site using a disk on a weekly basis from the commvault side?(I am talking about a method of storing the data for a week in a disk in the primary site and taking it to the DR site once a week and copying it to the DR disk) Please help me to figure out these.

Hi All,I am trying to automate the commvault setup, configuration and backup/restore procedure in our environment. We have chosen python sdk (cvpysdk) to do automation. I am not able to find any module for media agent installation in cvpysdk. Can anyone please please help me with the workaround? Even a CLI would help for automation. HI All, We have introduced Exagrid storage system as our backup storage solution, after the implementation we have noticed that the restore job is taking longer time than the expected one.We used Netapp as storage solution before Exagrid and also at the current setup with Exagrid we have enable the dedupe in both CommVault and Exagrid as well. How to identify where is the bottleneck. We have enabled the encryption and compression also in the Exagrid system.
Hello,Currently, we are using version 11.20 of Commvault on a Commserve Windows 2012 and SQL version 2012 server. The Commserve is a VM. We want to upgrade the Commvault version to 11.28 and we need to upgrade the OS version and SQLServer to Windows 2022.What is the correct method to follow to upgrade Commvault?Can we upgrade the OS and SQL version into 2022 and then install version 11.28 of Commvault : in this case, we need go through intermediate versions? Could this cause database corruption? Or is it better to rebuild the VMs?Thank in advance for your response.
Hi Guys,we’re running on Commvault 11.28.69Backup of VMs on a streched VSAN Cluster, where VSAs are deployed to both fault domains, enabling the use of hotadd transport mode in both locations.The backups are currently assigned to any available VSA, without honoring the fault domain. This creates additional WAN Traffic and also has an impact on backup performance.According to BOL this feature is available since 11.20New Features for Virtualization in 11.20 (commvault.com)I also defined bEnableClusterFaultDomainDispatch = true (should be default) on all VSA, but doesn’t lead to a proper VSA selection. Hey everyone, so as the titles states we are running Commvault 11.20.82 on win 2012 R2. Right now we are just considering doing the OS upgrades as 11.20 is still LTS until 2025; but if there is simple way to do them both without breaking anything that would be great. From what I understand this is an agentless setup, with Commvault talking to the hypervisor/vcenter, and the server being a VM itself backing up to netapp storage. Let me know what you guys think would be the best way forward or point me in the right direction.

Hi!We’ve recently moved media-agents to new servers, and i’m now in the process of “cleaning up”. And for 3 of the 4 media-agents the report showed nothing, and i could delete the mediaagent without any issue. However, for the last media-agent, it complains about “Proxy Server to Perform Intellisnap Backup Operations”, and lists a client name, a backupset name, and a subclient name.This was “correct”, because there was a subclient there with that name that was configured for intellisnap (but not in use, and had no backups). So i deleted the subclient… but even so, now several days later, when i try to delete the media-agent, the report still complains about the same “issue”. I could ofcourse just ignore the “warning” and proceed with the deletion, but i’d much prefer for the report to show that there is no association, before proceeding with the deletion.
I get “Failed to start backups as no eligible subclients were found” when i attempt run run a Synthetic full backup schedule that contains Mongo Big Data clients. I can however run the incremental schedule with no problems. There are no blackout windows defined for the clients. I did have these clients associated with a Plan but have now disassociated these.
Hi Team,In my environment the CommserveDB size was at 77 GB now and when I checked the history of that it was 59 GB on March 18 and from March 19th it was 77 GB.There were no changes performed on the environment.Will there be any reason why there’s a 18GB size increment on the CommserveDB and will it impact to the environment.???Note: Out-off 77GB the CommservData size is 55GB and Log size is 20.5 GB

We’ve been using disk libraries on our offsite DR mediaagent for years now. We only store the last week of changed data in it in case of absolute disaster (we store a year’s worth of changes on our on-prem mediaagent).Our office just got a large amount of S3-compatible storage and gave us a path to it. I successfully added a new “S3-compatible” cloud library to my commserve and I can see it (a single mount path, vs the 50 mount paths my disk library has, going to each disk).My goal is to change my existing Storage Policy settings, the policy called “SSCC Auxilary Copy” so that it stops using the disk library, and starts using the Cloud library for all future Aux copies.I went into the properties of the Storage Policy and I see the tab “Data Paths” that only contains a single item, with the correct MediaAgent02 listed, and the current disk library, just also named “MediaAgent02” - I think this is what has to be changed. My new cloud library is named “DoIT-S3-Storage”.But when I click on
