Hello,We currently have our primary copies stored on Hyperscale-X with secondary AUX copies residing at our opposing datacenter consisting of a traditional Windows MA attached to Nexsan storage. We have a requirement to implement some sort of air gap solution. I know it’s not fool-proof, but at the moment I’m considering a tertiary copy to move the data from either Hyperscale-X (local) or from the AUX copy to another MA/Storage located on a locked down network with a firewall in between. The concern however is the length of time that we’d need to leave ports opened to create that air gap copy. We could be talking dozens of TBs that would need to be copied and if we need to leave the ports opened for several hours, that’s going to increase our exposure. Can anyone speak to how they’re maintaining an on-premise air gap solution and provide me with any suggestions? I was thinking if we could somehow move that data to the air gap location via some sort of native hardware solution wi
We have client with oldes oracle db and we must use agent v10, but after upgrade commserve and media agent to 11.28 backups stop working, error sugest that this is problem with network but it’s not true.
Hi!We’re currently running a .bat script to do some simple copying of files to another destination, and we’re in the process of updating this to a powershell script, that basicly does the same, but does some additional checks and such first. I’ve verified that i can run the script manually with when i’m logged in as the user specified in the “run as user” But when i run a disaster recovery backup, i get the followig error: Error Code: [7:78] Description: Unable to run [C:\Path_to_Script\Name-of-script.ps1] on the client. Internal Error [150995005] in CVSession while communicating with remote host [Remote system [FQDN of Commcell server]. Remote execute request returned error: [].]. [] Source: commcellserver, Process: startPrePostCmd Anyone know what could be the issue here ? As far as i can see/understand, there should not be any “Remote System” ?
Hi,I have a DDB that has high Q&I times. This is hosted on a an AWS EC2 instance with the disk type being “gp3” with 300 IOPS.Below is the Databases section. The Files portion of the DDB is not reporting the same issue. My concerns also includes the very high Pending Delete Records in it. I can see that the Data Aging jobs do run as the Prunable Records does go down to zero.I attempted a manual space reclamation on this AWS S3 library that completes with errors.When looking through the logs it appears that the Media Agent does not have the required access on the bucket but the access does seem in place when using the Cloud Test too. Error on server. Could this be contributing to the high Q&I values?Any ideas that could assist with this resolving this? Thanks.Ignes

(or I'm looking wrong)I understand only (based on the documentation) that every region must have 1 VSA.Is it possible to have 1 VSA (or 1 VSA/MA) for all subscriptions in one region? If yes, how do you build that within Azure? If no, then every subscription needs own VSA/MA? If no (from question 1), how do you arrange communication between VSA in different subscription? Is that with virtual network peering? Or should we look at hub spoke model (Azure)?

I am trying to configure my CommCell to forward logs to a syslog server, but I cannot find where to enter the syslog server details. I am unable to follow the procedure in the documentation, as it starts by referring to a ‘Navigation Pane’ that does not exist anywhere in my version 11.28.63 console, nor does any other button, icon, or link that leads to a menu named ‘Manage’. The Control Panel does have a ‘System’ icon in the ‘CommCell’ section, however, the resulting menu does not have a ‘Syslog server’ tile. There do not appear to be any reference images of the console interface available anywhere, so I am at a loss to figure out how to proceed.
My command center is decent, but often I have to wait while the Command Center populates. I would assume that this sluggishness is a combination of web-server performance and sql performance.Are there tips and tricks out there to make this thing fly?
We introduced a new storage library in our Commcell and I am trying to copy some backup jobs over to the new library by creating a new Copy in storage policy. Initially I disabled the Data Aging option in the retention tab of the new copy. The goal was to stop the data aging from this new copy so I can compare job numbers in this new copy with job numbers in the old copy to ensure that all backup jobs have been copied over. Now when I enable the data aging and set extended retention rules, it doesn't look like it is being applied to existing backup jobs that have been copied to this new copy. Does anyone know how I can set the extended retention rules to existing jobs?
Hi Team, Question:Why can't I define retention for Storage policy in Laptop Plan created in Command Center?The question arises from the fact that the created SP is created for 90 days/1 cycle by default, which keeps the retention of incremental and synthetic backups for the entire days period despite synthetic backups being made.The DataRetentionForecastandComplianceReport shows that backups are kept for basic days - excerptHere is the view of the jobs sorted by Synthetic Full due to the large number of jobs:This increases the capacity for Storage and DDB.By creating a configuration from Commcell Console, I am able to configure it appropriately, but the client wants to use only the plans created in Command Center. I have created a powershell script using powershell sdk module to run multiple vm level backups which runs the backup but when i use the same powershelll script inside a workflow it doesnt work for some reason giving me message : I NFO: Get-CVClient: client not found having id [0]. Is there some limitation or something wrong the way i am passing the scrip inside workflow.
Hi,I have a question regarding register a client with RestAPI.In our environment we install by default a decoupled file system agent on each client.In case we need the client to register (e.g. for additional agents), we register the client via Console and fetch the configuration from the client. Additionally we have a script, which can do the same. This script is using qcommands.Since we are planning to migrate all of our scripts to use RestAPI instead of qcommands, we are looking for a method to perform the register via RestAPI.I saw, there is a function for POST Install Client, but I didn’t get it running to do the registering only.Do anybody has a clue how to perform a register and fetching client info only?I tried to check that Command Center and have a look on the “aquivalent API”, but it seems a register only isn’t implemented there. Also in the documentation there is described only how to perform via Console and SimCallWrapper.Maybe somebody has an idea :-)Many thanks in advance

IntelliSnap Backups are running every 6 hrs.Only the last daily “full” is selected to be backup copied to a disk library.For NAS and Virtualization IntelliSnap backups, an incremental backup Job is interpreted as full.As the result the last IntelliSnap Backup of the day is selected to be backup copied. Consultant did a Full VM restore from the copy available on the disk library but after the completed restore, the virtual machine did not come up. Since only every 4th backup is moved to disk library, he’d expect, that an incremental backup copy uses the last completed backup copy as reference point for the backup copy.But for him it looked as if the incremental backup copy is referencing the latest Snap Backup instead. Please confirm:Commvault needs the data of ALL incremental snap backups to enable a consistent restore. An incremental backup copy can only be used for restores, if all snap backups, between
Hello, I have a question. When backing up a VMware VM via SAN, it performs backup of all its disks in parallel, which gives us optimal performance, reaching a speed that exceeds 1TB/hr. The problem comes in the restore since the speed decreases at rates between 200 and 300 GB/hr. We see in the logs that each disk of the VM is restored one by one. Is there a key that can solve this problem.
SQL DBAs want to be able to create Availability Group clients for themselves, and I’m all for it.However, they don’t have the New Client button in the ribbon that I have (I have the ‘master’ role). I have been looking for what permissions to assign to a role for them but haven’t worked it out yet.I have read Books Online (which caters for Command Center we don’t use) and have found nothing there to help.DBAs can backup and restore SQL clients no problem, now I need them to create AGs. Hi, We had our Oracle RAC being backup by the Commvault. The backup is running ever since with any config changes or past issue but suddenly our DB team complaining of latency issue due to Commvault is doing backup of data in node which is the active which consume a lot of memory and cpu resources of the DB servers. The DB is questioning why the backup is performed in the node 1(active) as they assume it runs in node 2 before that is why no latency issue encountered in their end. The challenge question to Commvault is is there a way the backup process is deviating from doing backup from one node to do it in another node automatically? What is the behavior of Commvault Oracle RAC backup, where the data is read to which node and is there a way to change it by default to read in another node of the cluster?
I have 2 lists of tapes in 2 libraries - let’s say 1000 tapes in each list - and they are all in scratch, and they need to be deleted from Commvault for physical destruction.Not all the tapes in scratch need to be deleted though. Only a sub-list of specific tapes.So what I need to do, is either select multiple tapes for deletion, or to import a list of tapes that can be deleted in one action.In the Java GUI, I can only see how to delete a tape one-by-one. That will take a loooong time.I have had a quick look in Command Center (I don;t use it much) and canot see a way to achieve this in there.Anyone have any ideas? Thanks
We noticed on a RHEL8.7 build with a local disklib & ransomware enabled that it breaks xfs utils.Opened a case with RH support. They said for mount options “try context=unconfined_u:object_r:user_home_dir_t:s0” instead of the recommended “context=system_u:object_r:cvstorage_t:s0”, which does fix the issue with xfs commands. Now they are asking me to ask you all do other customers have the same experience? Or, they suggested use the context that “allows xfs to work” to which I replied “I have no idea but this is what the script sets up”.Basically if you setup a diskib using xfs (not NFS or S3 obviously), simply try to run xfs_info or xfs_growfs, can’t be done. The workaround I found if I need to grow the FS is stop service, remount without ransomware context in place (or use their options), fiddle with xfs, then remount with proper context. Looking for some way to fix rather than workaround but they seem firm in “it’s not a problem” with selinux or xfs, it’s the way it’s mounted.th

Hi, I have a three node HSX Reference Architecture stack.On one of the nodes the network card has failed. On this card one port is connected to the Production LAN and the other to the Storage. The node has two network cards configured so my node is still up. I have ordered a new network card but my question is, do I need to do anything after I replace it or will it just be added back to the Bonds ? Thanks

Hi All, short question regardin the point Bandwidth Throttling for a Storage Policy Copy Setting Network Bandwidth Throttling for a Storage Policy Copy (commvault.com) I want to undersatnd what happend when an auxcopy job starts. So in normal case without throttelling we reach 500MB/s during auxcopy between 2 DCs over wan. When the auxcopy job starts we see in the firewall the traffic grows up until the wan connection is done. So when i now throttel the auxcopy to 200MB/s per second we the a lot of peaks in the firewall when the auxcopy job is started. Than it goes down. My question is: When the auxcopy job starts all streams nad the most getted performance is allocated and that the function with the throttel on sp ract and the speed will be limited ?
