We may be merging our O365 tenant into another tenant. We currently backup Exchange Online, One Drive, SharePoint Online, and Teams. We also content index items. If a merger occurs, can the existing Commvault (V11.24) O365 Apps be used for protection? Will items need to be indexed again?
Hello Commvault Community,i am currently having the following problem:We are having a Backup for our Postgresql Database, for which we are using the Archive Log Options with a defined Archive Log Directory.Under "Log Backup", we set the Checkbox of Archive Delete, so that, as far as we understand, the Files from the Archive Directory get deleted after a successful backup. Now, after having set that value, we still do not have our Archive Directory cleared from those Logfiles, which are successfully listed under the Last Log Number entry. Can somebody tell me which point i am missing or why it doesnt work the way i think it should? Or otherwise, correct me if i am wrong.Best regardsJan
I have a question, can we restore the SAP HANA database that we have copied to the DC tape and then physically move this tape to DRC, restore it using the DRC media agent and the tape library in DRC?
Is there a table in commserve where we can find the days since the last password change? also alert/event to find the login events for a particular user
Hello Commvault Community,Is it possible to change or hide the name of the service that is visible on commserve that appears when we’re scanning ports with a network scanner? In the attachments there is a screenshot showing exactly what we mean - scanningportbynmaptool.png Can we rename or hide it instead of "Commvault Webserver"? Will it have an impact on the operation of WebServer - probably Commvault systems refer to it, hence the question. Thanks for help,Kamil
Hello,I am wondering if there is an option of configuring our mediaagents to work in parallel and share the load of our jobs. For example, if we had 100 jobs running at the same time (f.e 10:00), would be possible to make 2 or more mediaagents work in parallel and distribute the jobs sharing the load and reducing the total execution time of the jobs? In this example we would have to take in account that the different storages have all the mediaagents associated so any of them can be selected to run the jobs. Thank you in advance.
We have been in a seemingly never-ending tail chase with regards to needed Field Permissions for Salesforce Account. CommCell is on 11.28.32 but it’s been like this since day one (a year ago). Before anyone suggests - yes, the list of required permissions has been confirmed to be correct for the profile. User Permissions are not the issue. We have downloaded the Salesforce-compatible profile over and over, they feed it into the org, however they do it, the field permissions are fine for a while, and then sooner or later there’s a new list of fields the profile apparently can’t read. This seems like inheritance or something isn’t working for newly created fields, but I’m no Sf guy.Anyone know if there’s a way we can schedule a regular dump of those “lacking” field permissions to xml so I can send this to the app team automatically via workflow? Or, do you feel this should not be necessary once the profile is correctly configured? Then, similarly, Is dealing with field permissions handled d
Hello all, I am new to RHV/OLVM environment, so what does it mean this: "You must have an admin user account that can connect to Red Hat VMs"+The backup/restore user must have several additional permissions. So, the service account that is used to connect to the hypervisor must be an admin account, able to connect to Red Hat VMs, and have the permissions listed in the doc? Why would an admin account need additional permissions? Admin isn't sufficient? Regards,
Hi,In the documentation, it is written “ The DDBs created for Windows MediaAgent should be formatted at 32 KB block size to reduce the impact of NTFS fragmentation over a time period. The DDBs created for LINUX MediaAgent should be formatted at 4 KB block size. “ Questions:Why the default deduplication block size is 128 KB as it is neither optimal for Windows & Linux Media Agent? and in addition, not optimal for Cloud library …. I cannot find in the documentation where to setup the block size of the DDB. It is in he storage pool properties but can someone provide me the link in Commvault?ThanksRegards,
Hi, I have a short question in context of Exchange Policy Assignments. We are using AutoDiscovery with AD Groups to assign Exchange Policies to User Mailboxes in the Mailbox Agent. The Question is what happens if I add a specific user to a different AD Group which has a different set of Exchange Policies configured. Will the Exchange Policies gets changed for the User Mailbox or will it keep the original Exchange Policy Assignment? Kind RegardsFlorian
Hello everyone - Im looking for that commvault doc that said you need to upgrade 11.20.* to 11.24 and then to 11.28 etc.. I do see this doc https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/2619_platform_release_schedule_and_lifecycles.html But this just tells me about each release schedule etc. I want that doc that tells me the upgrade paths for each version. example - do i need to upgrade to 11.24 to get to 11.28 from 11.20 …? Does this doc exist? I dont think you can go straight from 11.20 to latest and greatest? correct? ThanksBC
Hi, We are new with AWS - Commvault installation. The designed VPC architecture and our CV configuration is as such:CV = 11.28.36We have 1 COMSERVE serving 6 different VPCs. Each VPC has it’s on Media Agent and S3 bucket. However, in 1 VPC there are 2 accounts, each account has it’s on MA and S3 bucket. We are finding that VM discoveries from each MA is discovering VMs associate with the other account. These accounts are divided by subnet ranges. We tried to limit the discovery of the VM’s in the Client Group by choosing the following CIDR filter parameter: “Client IPV4 CIDR is 192.168.32.0,19”.This only yielded the EC2’s that have CV integration, ie Media agent, cassandra, etc. Is there a way to limited the VM’s discovered by IP address ranges?ThanksChuck
Good afternoon. I need to get a volumetric report of the data stored on tape for Management. I have never done this kind of report. Could you help me on how to do this? Att, Fabio
I was wondering:Can I just rename a schedule and not have to do anything else (like re-associate it anywhere)? I have several schedules made by someone else I’d like to rename to a standard naming, and I don’t want to break anything. Are there any “gotchas” with scheduling Aux copies to run every hour? Currently we have most of our Aux copies scheduled to run 2x per day (and they run for hours), but some things like DB transaction logs are scheduled to be backed up hourly, so there’s a lot of data when they are finally Aux copied. I wasn’t sure if there was a “lower recommended limit” to running an Aux copy like if it caused any issues like “it takes quite a bit of CPU and database locking to prep and start it” or “too many aux copy jobs can make the DB or tape writing slower”, etc. I notice if an Aux copy is running and another one kicks off for the same policy/copy, it is considered “failed” as it could not run. This shows up on reports as “failed” alongside of things that actually
Hi, in the following article Port Requirements for Commvault I can read the following: Target Machine to Access Target Ports Accessed From Feature or Purpose All 8403 (configurable) All other network peers All data and control traffic All 8400 (Default CVD port) (configurable) All other network peers Required to be open on MediaAgents for faster data traffic QuestionsIn this context, what does it mean “All” for “Target Machine to Access”? Does it mean All Commvault servers, i.e., Commserve, Media Agents, VSA. It should be more precise Port 8403 corresponds to “All data and control traffic”. I remember that in the past, we had to open Commvault data ports in the range 8600-8650. Does it mean that now only one port is required for all types of backups? Don’t we need to open the ports 8400 & 8403 from all clients to all Commvault servers on both directions?Clearly, the documentation should be
Hello! How can I define a VM group to include VMs based on the text contained in annotations for the VM summary? I saw that I can create a filter rule to exclude VMs using the Notes field. But I want to include based on the Notes fields. How to achieve that? Regards,Pedro

Hi Guys,,,, We are not able to perform TNC on ports 8400 and 8403 to DR Commserve node. Is this because the services are stopped on the DR node ? Its a Live-Sync DR configuration. Regards,pank1988

I am attempting to kill jobs that are running for a client through the REST API using by first getting the jobs from this URL…http://WebConsoleHostName/webconsole/api/Jobs [Documentation here]and finding the jobs by client Id and then running a POST to the following URL with the job IDs of that are associate with the client id I am looking to kill jobs for…http://WebConsoleHostName/webconsole/api/Job/{{jobId}}/action/kill [Documentation here]The problem is that the job ids from the first REST call do not show up on any of the jobs in the Job Controller window in the GUI. If I take the job ids from the GUI and run the kill action on them it will kill them but the problem is I don’t know how to get the correct job IDs in the first place since the /api/Jobs URL is not returning the Job Ids I need. Are the job details for jobs that show up in the Job controller located somewhere other than at the /api/Jobs endpoint?
I recently upgraded to 11:28.44 and since then my OneDrive backups have been failing with this errorError Code: [19:599]Description: Loss of control process CvCloudBkp.exe. Possible causes: 1. Any ideas of how to trouble shoot this?
Hello community, When deploying an HSX RA block, does the nodes get automatically configured with the VSA component right out of the box? Moreover, can I use the nodes as FREL (File Recovery Enabler for Linux)? Right out of the box? Considering that the virtual environment has Windows and Linux VMs. It is required that we deploy a Windows VSA proxy in order to restore Windows VM files? Kind regards,Pedro
