I noticed the "v11 Download Manager with Feature Release 24" indicates it comes with a few items:Microsoft SQL 2019 software for the CommServe® Database EngineDatabase Upgrade ToolI have two questions:My MSSL DB on the Commserve is MSSQL 2014 (as it is v11 SP16).  I know I need to upgrade this to MSSQL 2019, but am going to do it after updating to v11SP24 (possibly doing a hardware refresh as part of the DB update). just curious: Can I use the “Database Upgrade Tool” to perform the upgrade or is it more of “tool for support” ?  I believe I read on the forums that upgrading the MSSQL DB isn’t the best way, and its easier to just install a new SP24 CommServe to get MSSQL 2019. I can do this, just wondering about the tool. When I install the software in the “v11 Download Manager with Feature Release 24” (after upgrading my Commserve to SP24. I need this to build an SP24 package for a second console), is it going to cleanly “update” the previous old SP16 “Download Manager” install/files, o

I found this thread because our largest Linux File Server Agent is taking 60+ hours to make a synth full rollup each weekend of past week’s 15 (3 daily incrementals, M-F) incremental backups.I just checked, and our scheduled synth full does NOT have the ‘use multiple-streams’ option checked.However, you mention that we need to be running V2 indexing on all the clients (file servers and VM hosts alike?) in order to use multi-stream synth fulls?I can see that my VMware client is only using V1 right now, so I see I’ll need to find the workflow to upgrade that. This entire commvault system was set up originally in April 2018, so I am not surprised I have some v1 stuff here.But I’m not sure where/how to check the indexing version on my file server clients, which is really where my synth full performance is suffering. Looking under the properties for the client, the agent, and the subclient, is not showing me a “V1” or “V2” option. Thanks for any help you can provide.(and if you want to move

I have a customer that’s running Azure SQL backups, the backup process triggers the export of the database to a bacpac file in a dedicated storage account and then backs this up to a Cloud library.I was under the impression that the data in the export location would only be transient as part of the backup process, however, looking at the storage account there are bacpac files going back for as long as we have had backups running for these Azure SQL accounts.Is this the expected behaviour or should the backup process be cleaning up the staging location?

Hello !We have a Commvault Appliance HS3300. For some reason, space in the disk library is not freed up. I do View Contents - 64 TB out of 250 TB are occupied, and 9 TB are free at the disk library level. Did it several times Data Aging, Data Verfication - didn't help. How to free up space on the Appliance?

I have a large isilon appliance that needs to be backedup.  There are folders that are shared out simultaneously via CIFS and NFS.  If I need to restore a file, how do make sure the CIFS and NFS permissions are ok. I know ndmp handles this just fine.  I am curious how to accomplish protecting the file permission in the Windows world (CIFS) and the linux world (NFS).  

We have a global Secondary Tape policy that we use for sending aux copies to tape. Currently it it set to use only 1 stream to keep the number of tapes being written to a minimum.I would like to switch the Full backups to 2 device streams though. I assume there is no way to do with the schedules? I need to make a new storage policy that is associated with the Full schedules?Just checking that I’m going about this right, thanks! Nico

Hello !There is such problem at Oracle backup. When the backup starts, the state = Running is being executed, after a while the status changes to = running (Cannot be verified) - see the screenshot below. A little later, the task goes into state= Pending and then the backup does not go through. Tell me, what kind of state=running (Cannot be verified) is this and can it lead to an error?  

Hello, I have a production server with CS that is already binded to DR (which is installed inside VM) How can i replace the existing DR (Inside VM) to my newly setup DR (Physical Server). I hope anyone can help, since i wanted to run a restoration drill. and if you have any advice what to do and what not to do during the restoration drill, that will help me. I’m linking a customers Metallic Subscription to their CommCell and getting an error which I believe is related to the Metallic URL’s not being allowed on the customers internet gateway. I haven’t been able to find a specific entry in the log files to support this but the error is below:Documentation doesn’t list the URL’s to whitelist here but I imagine it will just be https://*.metallic.io to allow? 

Hello Guys, What are the steps to follow in order to DR a MediaAgent that is lost ? In order to be able to access the data that was previously stored by it.I suppose that we have to start with the installation of a new one (OS, Commvault software), then we have to add it to the CommServe ? With the same IP as the lost one ? Any step-by-step procedure to proceed with a DR of an MA would be great. Thanks all,Regards.

We are running 11.23 and are now suddenly getting the event 7:269 - “A suspicious file [<String>] is detected on the machine [<String>]. Please alert your administrator.”The files in question are all OK, as far as we can see.Does anyone know why a file might be considered suspicious? 

HiI have a customer that wishes to migrate all of their long-term secondary backups currently stored on an Azure Cool Tier Cloud library based in the Azure UK region to a new Azure Archive Library based in Europe North (EUN) approx 860TB non-deduped. The Primary on-prem disk library has been physically decommissioned and is no longer available. The CommServe was also migrated from on-prem to Azure EUN as part of their cloud migration project. In EUN the customer is now using a mixed Cool / Archive Azure cloud library with just 30 days primary retention before backups are pushed down to the Archive tier with infinite retention. The customer is paying high costs for keeping legacy backups on the Azure cool tier in the UK and wants to move all data to the EUN cloud library.I’m looking for any advice on how best to migrate the data to EUN.  Is there a workflow available or is auxcopy my only option? Many thanks for any advice given...         

Hi everyone, CV supports table level recovery for Oracle database.But the problem is that we’re not able to assess the datafile size needs to be restored.So table recovery can cause unexpected issue like lack of space while doing a restoration. It says all related tablespaces are restored if the tablespace includes table to recover is not self-contained. EXECUTE DBMS_TTS.TRANSPORT_SET_CHECK('sales_dept', TRUE);SELECT * FROM TRANSPORT_SET_VIOLATIONS; So we performed below procedure/command to validate how many tablespaces are dependent.For our customer’s prod environment, only two tablespaces need to be restored for table recovery on top of the targeted tablespace. But the result was totally different what we expected.A table recovery required almost all of the tablespace restore to an auxiliary instance. Why CV restore so many tablespace just for a table recovery?(Oracle DBA says there’s no reason these tablespaces need to be restored. Hello I’m getting some isues with some VMWare backups Error with Virtual Machine change tracking. It may be necessary to power cycle the vm, or contact VMware support regarding the QueryChangedDiskAreas API. Have anyone faced this issue before and have an idea to solve it?

I’m working on configuring LiveSync and the instructions (from https://documentation.commvault.com/11.26/expert/105056_installing_commserve_failover_package_on_production_commserve_host.html) say to download the CommServe Failover Package but I don’t see that anywhere under the Documents and Packages link.  What’s the trick to finding and downloading this package?Ken
