   We are using Intellisnap VMware backups.  We are also using Gridstor.    When the snapbackups kick off, many of them after the discovery phase, go to Waiting.   The phase shows as BCD Index Restore.   The job will wait for 20 minutes before continuing.   This delay is frustrating.   I am able to work around this if I am watching the backups kick off, by suspend and resume the jobs.  They will start running immediately with no issue.  In reality, the BCD index restore runs so quickly in the background, there is no reason to wait 20 minutes.  This just delays my backups getting done and off site.  Does anyone else notice this issue?   I have opened tickets with support and eventually they tell me is is working as designed. :-(

Hi,I saw an online video for backup of Office 365 on youtube and it shows 4 options and one of them was “Exchange Online (Access Through Azure Active Directory)” option. However in our Commserv there are only 3 options showing and that option is missing. We only have Azure AD so the option of Exchange Online (Access through On-premise Active Directory) is not a valid option for us.  We are looking explicitly for Exchange Online (Access Through Azure Active Directory). Can any one point as to why this option is not visible or what we should do in our case since we dont have an on-premise AD?ThanksFahad  

Just wondering…Background: I’ve been recently running “CVDiskPerf -PATH (a folder) -OUTFILE (a log file)” vias it appears we might be getting low read throughput to locally mounted storage on my media agents and I’m getting vastly different readings.  Like 400 GB/hr for one run, then a few minutes later 1500 GB/hr.  I know there will be “some variance” but i was under the impression that this tool would probably “run for a bit” and give a more solid reading.  our storage nor our servers running CommVault are showing CPU or “IOPS pressure” in any metric that shows they aren’t able to handle more load/throughput. Before I started running this tool I was under the impression it would “work a little harder” to get throughput stats and not finish in a minute (like it would really try to push a limit of CPU/throughput/etc and the storage system would notice it as it was getting fed a lot of read/write requests).  Currently the storage system doesn’t register a blip when it runs, making me fe

Hi,I’m trying to restore data from tape and when it attempts to restore the Index I receive the following errors:Error: Unable to find/get index in the cache for [SubClient_81] at time [Fri May 5 14:14:14 2023]. Backup data browse in subclient [1032011_SERVERNAME\Windows File System\BackupSet_1032011_33_45\Subclient_81] not completed due to failed index cache restore. Media with barcode [ARM960L7]. side [A_1125], mounted on library [IBM 3573-TL 16] and drive [IBM ULT3580-HH7_1] on MediaAgent [SERVERNAME]. Mountpoint [\\.\Tape0] for job [313813].  Media block size is [64k].  Mount finished in [39] secondsI can see the tape that contains the Index is mounted into the Tape Drive and from there when it attempts to restore the Index I receive the following errors above.Has anyone seen this issue before? Thanks all

GreetingsI'm having an error when I restore a linux Ubuntu20.04 VM to VMWare the error that returns is this: I'm doing a virtual machine migration test from Huawei's FusionCloud platform to VMware, and with that I'm using VMWare - Converter to run it.When the migration finishes I have this initrd error to recreate the server. Can you help to overcome this error?Thanks if you have any tips

Hey everyone, we currently have two servers, one server is automatically deleting data every day from subfolders and the  otherserver is a SCCM server where changes happen daily. After almost a month Commvault is still "complaining" about thies two servers and every day "Clear anormaly" is executed. My idea is to exclude these folders. But is there another possibility ? Maybe you can teach Commvault to ignore the folders by itself.

Dear All ,i need some clarification on the below , we have depoloyed hyperscal x nodes and started backup activities , we would like to harden the security , we are planning to perform the following ,1> Enabling ransdomware protection on hyperscale nodes2> currently encryptions are not set global ddb or storage polocy ,storage pool or client side , i would like to where we is it better to enable the encrpytion3> enabling retention lock or WORM  - best practices to achieve immutability 4> disabling root account access since the backup operation already started to hyperscale x cluster ,above activities affect the operations ?is there anything to be taken care before performing this , also do we have any evidence to show  that the backed up data are write protected and wont be able to modified    

Hello all We have a problem with Commvault resources usage on the IBM Spectrum Scale server. During the backup at the scanning phase, Commvault uses more than 60% of CPU and RAM  OS: AIXhow can we allocate resources to Commvault not exceeding it?more explanation why Commvault uses RAM?  

Hello Community our DBA is requesting assistance in retrieving the MSSQL LSN number from the Commvault log.For this MSSQL AG (Availability Group) backup, I accessed the active node during the backup process and examined the sqlida.log file. However, despite increasing the SQLIDA debug level to 10, the LSN information does not appear to be present in the log. Just discovered that the LSN information can be found in the sqlbackup.log file only. However, I'm curious as to why certain SQL servers have both the sqlbackup module and the sqldia module, while others only have the sqldia module.

Hello,I have an issue that all browse for vmware VMs are failed - with error - “live browse enumeration failed”I can see that there is a mount in the MA folder for mounts (\installfolder\pseudomount\persistent\pseudodevices\I try to reboot the cmmvault services on the MA and also to reboot the server - the mount does not get releasedcan I manually delete it?  Best regards

I want to explain a problem we have:Hardware WORM was active on all of our disk libraries. We are not aware of having activated this functionality and as support indicated, there is no trace that we have executed a workflow to activate it.Despite that, the WORM functionality was not active in any of our Storage Policies, only at the disk library level. Hello, I just wonder what is the best practice to schedule the SharePoint Document? The current schedule that I have now is Full on every Friday and Incremental from Monday to Thursday.Should I change the Friday Full to Synthetic Full? Thank you.

So I have an availability group setup with 2 nodes with a database that gets skipped during differential and tlog backups. The error in commvault states that “Database [X] is not online and skipped for backup”, however this does not happen during a full backup.  I’ve confirmed that the database recovery model is set to “Full” and not simple within Commvault. I recently changed the schedule policy on the availability group client for Full/Differential backups to happen at a different time, but other than that no configuration change was made. Backups were running normally before for this particular database. Any insight as to why this is occurring? I’ve had the DBA run a native backup and it works just fine. 

We have installed oracle 21C windows edition on a Virtual machine and performed a Full backup on Commvault HDPS(Hitachi Data protection suite). I have the following problem, I have decommissioned 2 node from Commvault, but the license have not yet release and the customer has add 2 new nodes. So the system see that we are over the VM Socket License. The grace period did not active automatically and now I can’t log into the Console to enable it.  Is there a way to enable it via the Command Center? Or just to get into the Java Console?
