Hello! I know CBT is a VMware functionality that Commvault and other backup softwares use. Netbackup leverages the advantages of CBT on both full and incre/diff jobs. Does the same apply to Commvault? Check this doc from NBU: https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/doc/21902280-127283730-0/v27791754-127283730Backup of entire virtual machine, with full schedule: Backs up only the blocks that have changed since the .vmdk was created. Note that the blocks that are not initialized are excluded from the backup. Backup of entire virtual machine, with incremental schedule: Backs up only the blocks that have changed since the last backup, as follows: For cumulative incrementals, BLIB backs up only the blocks that changed since the last full backup. / For differential incrementals, BLIB backs up only the blocks that changed since the previous backup of any kind. So, will Commvault full backups also get the advantages of CBT?Regards,Pedro

Good day.Does anyone have experience with protection workloads in a AWS AMS/MALZ environment? Are all the features supported? I heard that some features relating to agentless protection and recovery operations will not be possible due to the restrictions placed on the making use of snapshots (VSA / RDS), creating VMs/DBs, assigning permissions to resources via IAM, etc.When using the agent in-guest approach this should not be an issue as I have it.The idea is to integrate this environment into an existing on-premise Commvault deployment. I do see that there is an option to create a “Customer Managed” OU within the MALZ environment but this would still make use of some components within the Core OU managed by AWS.Any information will be appreciated.Regards,Ignes 

Hi! We are trying to replicate an Azure VM to a storage account located in a different region. Backup of the virtual machine worked, but when trying to use the “Replicate now" prompt, replication fails due to a sync error. Further investigation into the replication group/VM showed the error “One of the disks exceeds the maximum allowed size for an Azure VHD page blob". Is there a way to work around this? Specially that we are planning to replicate even larger capacity VMs. Any help is greatly appreciated 

Hi,I’ve configured a Virtual Server Backup and i’ve run Create VM Clients on the deafult subclient, after that all the VMs have it’s own client with the backup set.That backupSet already have backups and I cannot delete it.Do you know hoy can I delete the backupset generated on the VM Clients?Thak you so much in advanced.

Dear All, Due to an urgent requirement, we restored the Hyper-V VMs ULCSLINVDBP1 and ULSLCINVAPP1 to another  hyper v host(EH07HYP host). Both restorations were successful. But ULSLCINVDBP1 was accessible and ULSLCINVAPP1 was not accessible.What could be reason for this kind of situation,Is it because of any faulty in backup? 

Hello,I have a query to the community. A customer is asking me to create full backups of his virtual machine, so that later, in case of error, I can perform a restore of his full virtual machine in my vCenter. To be able to perform the full backup of his virtual machine, I must create a VMware vCenter Commvault agent of his environment in my commserve, and then in the subclient, add the virtual machine he wants, no? Is there any other possibility? We currently have a Commvault agent of that virtual machine but we are only doing the 'File System' backup.Thank you all very much,Best regards😊

Hi,Is there an option to run a custom pre backup scripts for vmware backups ( not pre-freeze & post thaw ),For instance a script that checks if a certain file exists on the discovered VM’s and only then allow the snapshot to be taken and start the backup process ? Thanks

El Plug-in de vCloud Director no carga al ingresar como usuario de Tenant . al ingresar como provider , si me puede abrir el plug-in , e incluso puedo configurar el usuario con el que conectara hacia el comserve. validando el error que me arroja cuando intento abrir el plug-in como usuario de un tenat , abriendo la vista de desarrollador me esta arrojando un error 403 forbbiden. tienen alguna idea de lo que estara sucediendo? , pudiera ser que me falte agregar algo en el comserve para que me permita abrir el plu-ing desde un tenat?.  comserve version 11.28.53 saludos Dulce J Rico

I need to change VSA transport mode for backups of VMs from hot adds that is being used to SAN mode.  We recently installed new media agents to connected them to fiber.  What do I need to do to connect these new media agents to the libraries and switch over to SAN mode?

For the Storage Account prompt, I could see other storage accounts for that Azure region, but not the one that I have recently created. Is there any way to troubleshoot this? Where should I begin?

Hi All, I have a client that upgraded their hardware and in doing so we went over the VM Socket limit. We then removed the license from the nodes and then decommissioned the servers. 2 of the servers licenses have been released, but the other 2 does not want to release the license.  I have ran Synthetic Fulls and Incrementals, as well as Full backups, but the license is still not releasing. The Host does not exist anymore, so I can’t even try to reapply the license to remove it again. Any Ideas? Thanks in advance.

Se tiene un servidor XX el cual se requiere migrar a un nuevo equipo YY, la idea es que el equipo nuevo YY toma el nombre y la IP del equipo XX, mientras que el equipo XX es aislado y posteriormente eliminado, la idea es conservar los backups en CV del equipo XX y que  el equipo  YY  lógicamente quede con los planes de backup que tenía XX.Al realizar lo indicado aparece lo siguiente el cliente original con la data que tenia almacenada pero el cliente nuevo no tiene las politicas del original

I have vm pack license and 1tb capacity license, am also taking file system level backup of some vms,but it is counted in capacity consumption, is it the expected behaviour,? In vm pack regardless of what kind of backup we are running this shouldnot count in capacity tb license right

I'm trying to wrap my head around the following. I'm setting up VM-level protection in a VMware environment and I'm using the VCD hypervisor because we want to deliver VM-level protection to our cloud customers. So I configured a vCenter hypervisor first and added the VCD hypervisor afterwards, which leverages the vCenter hypervisor. Right now there are 4 active clusters with a few others coming soon. I deployed access nodes on all clusters and they are all listed as access node. Our backup method should be hot-add, because we'll have to close down/limit connectivity between clusters because of security, so NBD will not be an option anymore. The "first" access node in the list acting as the communicator is able to communicate to all other access nodes via a network topology, no errors what so ever to be seen when it comes to the communication between the nodes.Now when setting the transport mode to hot-add all jobs so far failed with the error that the access node cannot mount the disk

Customer would like to move Comcell server into Azure environment. Ideally customer would like to create a completely new server with Windows Server 2022, a new name and a new IP address from scratch and make it the new Primary Commserve.Has anyone here with experience of this and provide their insights and any links?Many thanks in advance

Hello all I have multiple Backup sets I want to create a rule on the backup set level to make sure that for example VM that is a member of backup sets does not belong to others  is that possible?

Can anyone confirm how much minimum space is required in the Data Store for taking backup.As we have approx. 450GB free space in data store still backup failed with the reason that there is insufficient space in data store. Thanks.

Hello team, We have VM backups configured for GCP machines in our environment. Now we have the below scenario as we need to update custom hostname for the machines through terraform which needs deletion and recreation of VM. The approach we followed is as below.1. Take FS backup of the machine2. Delete and recreate the machine with custom hostname3. Have the FS backup restored to the newly created machine so that we have the system back to the state it was before the deletion.While trying this approach we are encountering many issues like losing connectivity to the machine, data which says restored on the console but not visible at the OS level and so on. We had raised a support case as well and got an update that we cannot do a full "/" restore as this will overwrite the kernel OS file which will crash the system during the restore phase and OS level files/directory you should not overwrite on a running machine (/usr /etc /lib /root /boot etc) Could someone please let us know what wou

All proxy servers and MA’s residing in one esxi host but still failing with Error opening the disks for virtual machine . Verify that the correct transport mode is selected.Changed the transport mode to Auto but the issue is nbd takes longer.Also the Read disk performance is better than write disk performance.Is there any temp folder from the proxy server which can be cleaned up?
