Hi team,I need a recommendation for our vmware backups.Our situation is as follows;Definition 1: With DefaultBackupSet, we back up approximately 1000 VMs with a large number of subclients every day with incr and on weekends with Synthetic Full.Definition 2: With another BackupSet, we are backing up VMs with 1 tag in Vcenter every Friday. There are about 2500 VMs. Jobs work as incr on Friday, we can't run full because backup takes too long. We shorten the time by taking incr and Synthetic Full works after the subclient is finished.Both types of backup are done with NBD, not suitable for our SAN and Hot-add environment.We use 10 virtual proxies in total.Since backups working with Definition 2 start incr, if it has a new VM tag, it automatically converts to Full. If there is a VM backed up with both definitions, it continues as Incr.Now the config made here may be wrong, but I need this, what do you recommend?- As in Definition 1, I have to back up about 1000 VMs every day.- As in Definit

Hi everyone..  When will VMs with vHW v.20 be supported? hello all, was wondering if there is a way to tell if 1 VM is in 2 different VM groups which will lead to the VM being backed up twice? may be a report or alerts?

Hello,we are currently trying to restore a VM over a Media Agent sitting in a Azure cloud. The Media Agent sitting in the cloud has the VSA installed but can not be selected as Proxy Client in the “Restore VM” window. I was reading threw documentations and found this: Managing Proxies (commvault.com)the important part: Any machine where the VSA is installed can act as a VSA proxyAm I missing some settings?ThanksEddi

HiWe have different subclients marked as Plus or Basic - all depending om retention.Some of the basic subclient don’t have any servers (at this time) so the jobs are marked as failed. Is there any option to get this job marked at completed with errors / completed - or don’t run the job when there is no vm’s

Hi Team,in my environment, i have backup SAN & NAS for remote site using IntelliSnap.This is totally different country where using different network ISP.The Snap backup will come to secondary storage first(AUX Copy) before backup to Commvault Storage(Backup Copy).Another site, we run normal SAN backup(without IntelliSnap), where the plant just away about 5km(Direct backup to Commvault Storage).For SAN we using IntelliSnap. My Question:1. Can we skip the secondary storage for Aux copy and direct backup to Commvault Storage? (with / without IntelliSnap) for remote site? What are the disadvantages? Do we call the VM backup without IntelliSnap is VSA backup? As per my understanding, the normal VM backup will wait for each snap to finish backup and remove at last. it may take longer time for remote site and impact the Real Time backup. If create IntelliSnap snapshot and backup to Commvault storage directly, does it need host to mount from local snapshot storage?

I encounter a problem when backing up a few VMs in my Vmware Vsphere 7 environnment : Cannot read disk [[Datastore2-Compellent] xxxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxxx-000002.vmdk] for virtual machine [SRV-xxxxxxxxx] on the host [esxi03.xxxxx.xx].[One or more errors occurred while processing the request. (ERROR_ERRORS_ENCOUNTERED.774), ReadCurrVmdkFile (W32.774) Failed] I red on some forums that a Storage Vmotion could resolve the issue on vmdk files, but my management do not want go through this path because this VM is in our production environment. Is there any other solutions ?Regards,

Good day community!Maybe one of you encountered the issue and know how to resolve.We have a customer with VMware VMs that are backed up and that we need to restore as Azure VMs.But here is the problem. The customer VMware VMs have D: drives with data. When they are converted to Azure VMz, it fails, since Azure adds a D: drive to the VMs with the Windows pagefile on it. It does not seem like we can change the drive letter for those pagefile drives, but we can’t also change the drive letter on the VMware VMs since apps are referring to that drive letter. 😣Anyone encountered this and have an answer?Many thanks in advance.

Is there a way to create an alert or email notification specifically for whenever a backup job failes due to “insufficient free space available to create a snapshot of virtual machine”?I see this from time to time whenver a datastore in vCenter is has low in free space which is easy to resolve. However, I may not always notice the error right away.

hello,we are using commvautl to bcp some VMs but we get this erreur :There are too many existing backup snapshots on the virtual machine. Backup snapshots are being cleaned up, however manual intervention may be requiredto ensure that all snapshots are removed. This may indicate that the storage is unable to keep up with the IO activity ofthe virtual machine during a backup.any help please.

I’ve been fighting with P2V’ing a Centos machine for over a week. The first phases get entirely done within 30m, but the job hangs at the Post Virtualize phase (waiting) for what the logs don’t say. I have a support case opened on this but dev seems stumped as do I. Plus the way they wrote this, can’t suspend it, so after some amount of time, even though to me my machine is fully virtualized AND functional, it will destroy it all when times out eventually. It has done this several times already and is easily reproduced. I cannot believe nobody else has ever ran into this or have they? I told our folks I could expedite P2Ving 100 workstations but now have egg on the old face, 😡11.26.31 we are onthanks

I’ve tried 3 different deployments of the FREL .ova with different custom root logins and none of them work - i.e. can’t login Is there a default root password that isn’t listed in the ‘help’?
