Hello,I have a query to the community. A customer is asking me to create full backups of his virtual machine, so that later, in case of error, I can perform a restore of his full virtual machine in my vCenter. To be able to perform the full backup of his virtual machine, I must create a VMware vCenter Commvault agent of his environment in my commserve, and then in the subclient, add the virtual machine he wants, no? Is there any other possibility? We currently have a Commvault agent of that virtual machine but we are only doing the 'File System' backup.Thank you all very much,Best regards😊

Hello, i created workflow and use foreach for run backup task (multiple clients). how i can wait job complete for multiple parallel jobs?i tried use WaitForJobCompletion in step after starting backup task. If configure "number OfParallelExecutions" value in "1" for foreach, task is executed sequentially (it's normal,  we are waiting for the task to complete to start another task).When configure "number OfParallelExecutions" value in (for example) "10"  for foreach and use WaitForJobCompletion in step after starting backup task, the tasks are executed in parallel, but we have error "Error Code: [19:1805]" in workflow. But, workflow work correctly and backup done.finnaly, is there a way to monitor (for jobs waiting for other steps on the workflow) the execution of multiple parallel  (backup) jobs runs inside a "foreach" block outside of "foraech" block? When uses "number OfParallelExecutions" value in (for example) "10"  for "foreach" block.Thanks

Hi Folks, i did some reaseach but did not find any valid report. Is there a Commvault report available which shows the usage of the Tape Drives over the full week or month.( ideally something ike this but in much more detail ) I just wanted to know when we have free time slots to schedule / reschedule jobs so they do not block each other or AUX copies   Thanks in advance

This may sound like a ridiculous question but I’m honestly asking…I’ve been a CommVault customer for more than 10 years.  Over that time multiple people have been backup administrators which is not a dedicated position but one of those “other duties” that people get assigned.  Also over that period, CommVault has changed a lot and deprecated various things (the original Compliance Search and Azure V1 client as examples).  Currently I’m dealing with a LOT of problems.  I have some staff on OneDrive V1 backups and some on V2 - and neither run cleanly.  The new Compliance Search doesn’t work properly, the java GUI has duplicate clients that I can’t explain, and the daily Administrative job summary email report has multiple content indexing failures.  SharePoint backups (on prem and M365) don’t work properly, the Command Center health report reports jobs that have aged out months ago as problems and the Database Index Fragmentation shows as critical even though zero percent of th

Hi,Is there an option to run a custom pre backup scripts for vmware backups ( not pre-freeze & post thaw ),For instance a script that checks if a certain file exists on the discovered VM’s and only then allow the snapshot to be taken and start the backup process ? Thanks

In practice we see many of our customers determining RTO’s based on paper exercises before even validating what it takes to live up to the RTO SLA agreement. In case organization refer to RTO-0 than they refer to high availability which can be achieved using for example clustering technologies combined with sync. mirror storage or application with built-in capabilities relying in a distributed backend. However it doesn’t protect in case you run into cyber security threats, malicious intent or human failure.Now you have to rely on your backup copy to recovery to a specific point in time. Now let’s forget the time that it takes before the actual recovery process starts which is easily forgotten, but what actually adds-up to the entire recovery time. Let’s not take into account the MTD which stand for the maximum tolerated downtime as well but let’s focus on the RTO definition within Commvault. What is the rule of thumb that Commvault uses itself to determine the RTO? I rem

El Plug-in de vCloud Director no carga al ingresar como usuario de Tenant . al ingresar como provider , si me puede abrir el plug-in , e incluso puedo configurar el usuario con el que conectara hacia el comserve. validando el error que me arroja cuando intento abrir el plug-in como usuario de un tenat , abriendo la vista de desarrollador me esta arrojando un error 403 forbbiden. tienen alguna idea de lo que estara sucediendo? , pudiera ser que me falte agregar algo en el comserve para que me permita abrir el plu-ing desde un tenat?.  comserve version 11.28.53 saludos Dulce J Rico

We have a oracle RMAN backup running with 35 days retention (According to the policy). Now, there is a requirement to take adhoc RMAN backup with one day retention.  In “resubmit job” window, advanced backup option → media → job retention → for, I selected 1 days (retention applicable on → All copies). I am not sure whether it will work because in commvault website, its mentioned that for “ For n Days box is greater than the number of days specified in the storage policy copy retention”Advanced Backup Options (Media) (commvault.com) For n Days: Select this option to prune this job after the specified number of days. Make sure that the value you specify in the For n Days box is greater than the number of days specified in the storage policy copy retention.

Hi Team,  I noticed that there is a schedule to download software but it is not working to download the latest maintenance release, is it right this behaviour?Which one of these options should be selected?The last option if I choose, in this case,will it download just the 59 maintenance release and, for example, an future 73 not will be downloaded?  

I have a customer asking if CV has a way to confirm the validity of the backups that are taken. I am not aware of any way to test whether a backup has all the content it is supposed to backup versus what is on the target server that is being backed up. Beyond the normal stuff like alerts, reports, dashboard etc etcThey ran into an issue where one of their backup admins made a mistake and let a failure ride for several months, had a critical recovery request and now they are trying to figure out a way to make sure their backups are sound.I doubt it, if the backup admins are not following the reports/dashboard and alerts then I am not sure what we could provide beyond that.  

Considering that 1-touch backup and backup networks are pretty common things, I’m surprised at the issue I’m having trying to do a 1-touch recovery over a backup network.Whether I’m using a ReaR based recovery or the 1-touch ISO, the restore client that fires up doesn’t seem to get the backup network configuration and the restore is attempted over the primary interfaces.  The restore client tries to talk to the MA over DNS IP and vice versa.  Considering we have backup networks, that data path is firewalled.I’ve managed to make it work, but it is a PITA as I have to add to the hosts file of the client the name of every MA and the matching backup interface IP, and I have to add the restore client backup IP and hostname to the /etc/hosts of every MA.So how do others do 1-touch recovery and backup networks?   I can’t be the first person to have encountered this.

We are still new with Commvault and AWS and more specifically fitting into a REAL budget.  Recently there was a report of some drastic increase in charges for a small vpc environment.  We are at 11.28.36 and are backing up a total of 18 EC2s with 1 Full / week and 1 Incremental / day (except on the Full day).  The Storage Policy for retention is set to 30 days and 0 cycles.  We also note that AWS recently started encrypting S3 buckets for free.  We also have encryption AES 256 set,Also so note that the S3 was originally setup with versioning.  We have since (12/2022) suspended the versioning and have plans to use a new S3 and seal off the DDB. We have never done a restore in this list environment.The question is how or if Commvault uses the GET, PUT, COPY, POST & LIST functions?  The accounting people have reported the following:******Feb – 2023 – Total S3 Bill was ~$174Amazon Simple Storage Service USW2-Requests-Tier1

Hi all,Wondering if by chance anyone has experience running DDB space reclamation with orphan data cleanup against a cloud library. We have a cloud library in Azure cool tier which we expect may have some data that was not pruned successfully, thus increasing our storage consumption in Azure. The deduplication database for this data lives on local storage.We’d love to run a space reclamation with orphan data cleanup against this cloud library, but we’re concerned about the possible cost of storage transactions against the Azure cool library.Has anyone performed this operation before and observed the related cloud storage costs? For reference, we have just under 100 million blobs and a total of about 400TB of storage utilization in Azure. Many thanks for any input folks may have!

I want to automate the creation/adding of new libraries, specifically such of the type “S3 compatible”. So, not a classical Disc Library and neither a Cloud Library (Like Azure or AWS).I’ve crawled through the Python Modules and the REST API but I can’t seem to find any way of adding such “S3 compatible” type library, only normal Disc or Cloud ones.Does anyone know of a way to get this done? Or have I missed something?

estoy realizando la integración del commvault & vcloud director , al finalizar la configuración del plugin , en la parte donde selecciono el hypervisor , no me muestra ninguno , por lo que estoy queriendo dar de alta en mi comserve un cliente de vcloud sin embargo no me permite ya que falla con el siguiente error :  en el parmetro vcloud director estoy colocando el hostname del vcloud sin https:// y el usuario para fines de prueba se esta intentando con todos los privilegios , el Access node es el commserve en el instale el vsa, alguien que me pueda apoyar en ver que es lo que estoy colocando mal?esta es la parte donde estoy tratando de configurar el nuevo cliente vcloud desde el commcel console 

I need to change VSA transport mode for backups of VMs from hot adds that is being used to SAN mode.  We recently installed new media agents to connected them to fiber.  What do I need to do to connect these new media agents to the libraries and switch over to SAN mode?  

My company has an enterprise subscription and I’ve been advised that the CEO’s mailbox may be greater than 100GB. If that is the case will it still get backed up in Metallic? It hasn’t been migrated yet.Thanks in advance.Gerry
