Hello,I would like to ask you advice on my VMware backup Plan.  I took this over from someone else and have been reviewing it.  I have a local storage archive for 90 days and online for 7 years.  I have 8 revolving recovery points being backed up.  The under RPO the backup frequency shows run incremental every 24hrs.  Under Database options the RPO is every 4 hours for log backup and full backup every 3 weeks.  My main concern is the incremental job every 24 hours.  I’m new to Metallic and want to make sure that this configuration is recommended and enough.  I know the engineer helped set all of these plans up so I think it may be fine but I want to be sure.  Thoughts??

Hi all, we have a customer that wants to archiv the Fileserver from his software development deparment.They have a lot of files and also a lot .EXE and .DLL Files laying around, related to different projects. According to the documentation, *.EXE and *.DLL are filtered by default.https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/25799_windows_file_system_archiving.html Is there a Key or Setting to change this Filter to include .EXE and .DLL to the archive data?

Hello Community#1  vms are linked to the same storage pool and DDB is enabled, when moving the VM between subclients will initiate a re-baseline ? #2 Could you confirm whether Commvault generates the DDB signature based on the server name or UUID or else?"#3 If we enable Commvault encryption on the subclient level, will this trigger DDB re-baseline when the scheduled job starts for the existing subclients ? if so, does job will convert to full automatically or has to run full manually ? thank you

HelloWe are planning on performing an upgrade from 11.24.98 to 11.28.x only to clear vulnerabilities with dotnet 3.1.32 which is EOL.   So we have been told we must upgrade to 11.28.x which installs Python 3.9.13 Our problem in the past with an upgrade is that we had a conflict with the upgrade when it came to the install part of python modules (only around the 7% complete install stage) because we had a higher version then what the upgrade was trying to install.  We have upgraded python in the past to clear security vulnerabilities.  We are currently at python 3.9.5. Any advise on what to do to avoid a similar situation with a 11.28.x upgrade??Should we totally remove python and its folders it leaves behind after an uninstall.  How do I know we are python free.  Just uninstalling from control panel I dont believe does the trick.  We have a sensitive network were we cant install a “program cleaner” software app etc..  Once we are python free should I rein

Hi,currently I am testing to establish a backup configuration for M365 backup.In my setup the CommServe itself has no internet access. The access node for M365 is able to access the internet. When I try to setup the configuration with the “Office 365 configuration helper” everything is working so far. But if I try to get the content from M365 or if I try to validate the setup, I am not able to finish it.In firewall logs, I see that the CommServe is trying to open Port 443 to several IP addreses in the internet.When I open internet access for the initial setup of Exchange Online, I am able to finish the setup and after closing the ports I am still able to backup. So it seems only the validation is not working.Since opening that ports in my productive environment is not an option, I’d like to ask you, if there is any workaround possible, to create a working environment without opening the ports.Do you have any idea?

Hi All, is it possible to create an alert for exchange online mailbox backup. When the Cache update is older than x days   Showing mailboxes from cache last updated on: Apr 17, 8:49 AM We had some enviroments hwere the cache update and auto discover does not work. Thsi cause potential data loss.  the stupid thing here is that the mailbox backup shown as completeded even if there are a lot of skipped mailboxes with that kind of error: Mailbox [Extra] not found in local mailbox cache. Please make sure local mailbox cache is available and refreshed without error.  So we want to get an alert when the cache is to old. 

Hello! Apparently, the DDB backup should get automatically configured. We have 3 HSX RA nodes.For some reason the FS iDA on the nodes are grayed out: They all hav the DDBbackup subclient: And there's also a automatically created schedule for the subclientes: but no jobs are running for that schedule. Is it because the FS iDA is not completely configured? Should I hit "reconfigure" for it? Shouldn't all this be automatically set up or did I miss any configuration step? Regards,

Why we need schedule 2 DDB backups in a day?

From here: Deduplication Best Practices (commvault.com)I’m seeing from this link its “best practice” if you have a DDB of around 100-200 TB to do a full backup “1 tie per week” and do incremental backups daily.  I would assume this is the case for a smaller DDB as well.My system currently has 5 DDBs (all multiple partitions) where 3 of them are ~40 TB, and the two large ones are ~350TB each.   We have a schedule to do a Full DDB backup “Daily” of all of them, and it appears to be the built in “System Created for DDB Clients” schedule.Is “taking Full DDB Backups daily” of this size “excessive” or “not really needed”?  I wasn’t aware you can schedule incremental DDB backups and wasn’t sure if this is something you can just add into an existing schedule. “Full daily” is just the schedule we have had for a long

We have an environment mainly that is mainly linuxbased and try to keep number of windows servers down to a minimum. However we see that Office365 backups require that the webserver is windows based due to different reasons and requires an outlook installed to do PST restores.We are planning to try to implement HA on the commandcenter/webserver side and have a few questions in that regard.Planning for 1 commandcenter to point to 1 webserver as pr documentation.Must these webservers also be windows based to be able to support restores and configurations of M365 clients. or is it enough that there is one windowsbased webserver available?Must all webservers have outlook installed to do export to PST or can commvault somehow route the PST generation to specific webservers and the file be made available for the correct webserver?The simple design would be to keep the webservers windowsbased with outlook installed, but would prefer to move more to linuxb

Hi,I am looking for a way, for example via workflow, to set all started (partially written) media (tapes) to full at the end of a quarter so that the backups for the new quarter all go to new tapes. We can not use the vault tracker because there are not enough export slots (or how does it work if a medium is to be exported via vault tracker but all mailslots are full ??). Or can we also use the vault tracker to just mark the media of the past quarter for export only (and disabling further writes)  without exporting the tapes  to the mailslots themselves so that we can take out the tapes in the order we want?Best regardsFrank

However, the report coming from Commvault has a lot of information.Would it be possible to use CLI to extract only the information I want?My idea is to create a script and run it every month without having to manually organize the data.

We have dotnet 3.1.32 which our security center scans are posting critical vulnerabilities because of 3.1.32 is EOL.   What hosting bundle for dotnet to I install since 3.1.32 is no longer being supported/patched.?   Cant seem to find if 11.24.x supports dotnet hosting bundles 6.0.x ?   Any input will be appreciated it.  Or suggestions on which dotnet I should be using?   ThanksBC

does a media agent index backup still run if the license is released?will it going to affect the restore if its grayed out?you can see the system created DDB Backup is disabled and grayed out.  

Hello CommVaulters, Uninstallation of MediaAgent on Linux machine via CommCell is failing. So, I would like to clean up mediaagent on Linux and push a fresh media agent software onto it.
