Hello everyone,I’ve created a new OneDrive backup using the Command Center and have been manually adding users for the past few weeks.  I’d like to configure it to back up all users automatically but the documentation doesn’t match the user interface.For example these directions don’t match what I see in portal.azure.com:https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/150329_adding_onedrive_license_enabled_users_using_microsoft_dynamics_azure_ad_group.htmlAnd these directions don’t match the Command Center interface:https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/135989_adding_all_users_to_onedrive_for_business_app.htmlI opened ticket 230605-558 and suggested maybe I could have an online session since the documentation is incorrect but was told that’s not an option and that I’d have to engage professional services.  Does anyone have some recommendations on how to get this set up?Ken 

I have some CIFS Shares on a NAS that I want to backup and I currently do this by using a subclient on a Windows File iDA that simply connects to the UNC path.I’m replacing the box that the existing subclient sits on so I need to re-create it and I have two options.Same as before but use a new File iDA. Add a NAS/Network Share client and use the new Windows File iDA as a data access node.The end result is my UNC path is backed up so I’m not entirely clear what the difference is between the two methods and why I might choose one over the other?

After 12th of June 2021, you may encounter a situation on your Commserve whereby the SQL TempDB (tempdb.mdf) and Log (templog.ldf) are increasing in size unexpectedly.This may continue until the volume on the Commserve holding these files becomes full, which can lead to performance issues on the Commserve and observed in the Commcell console.Commvault released a reporting enhancement on the 11th June 2021 that has inadvertently caused tempdb/templog file growth.This enhancement has since been fixed however your environment may still be showing high space cosumption from the tempdb and templog files.If you are witnessing this behaviour and have low disk space on the drive hosting these SQL database files, please carry out the following on the Commserve server:1. Background: I have a few Windows clients that are performing a lot of backups via subclients. Most of these are UNC paths, and some that are pointing to large file shares (some are 10-50 TB each).  We need to “migrate” from the clients being on 2012 Windows OS to 2019 Windows OS, and “just upgrading the OS” isn’t an option we have to stand up new 2019 servers and retire the old 2012 ones.  The storage policies for these subclients are tied to DDB’s for primary copies, and secondary/aux copies.For each subclient on the old clients we want to retire: I want to just “deschedule” the old subclient, then make a brand new “identical” one with the same name and “path its backing up” on the new client (with all the same storage policies, filters, etc.).  Maybe take advantage of any “new” default settings on the subclient.  I will run a synthetic full at some point on this to make the last backup a ‘full’ to clean up storage.I have read up a little on NDMP and other types of backups for these (

Hello, we have a 3 part storage policy that snaps, copys to vault then once a month a backup copy runs. The backup copy has stopped working now for the past 3 months. The jobs are stuck on “To be Copied”. When I manually run a backup copy, it tells me no data needs to be copied. The jobs in the primary and vault work fine. The tape drive has available tapes. I dont see any obvious error or connection issue. Do you know which log in the Send Logs zip I can look at to help troubleshoot this issue? 

There are AD plans available in commvaut- but that only backs up the objects. The only way to get the full backup is a system state- which is not included in an AD backup. There is also a test workflow within the command center that will test the forest recovery. My questions is - has anyone had to actually do a domain restore? Im not talking Bob’s account that was deleted, but an actual domain controller restore and domain restoration. I would love to hear about it.

HiI’m pretty sure that last year when I briefly investigated this I was able to “partial” restore from export backups for RDS Aurora Postgres - I restored a TABLE ONLY.Now it seems I can only restore the entire database - has this functionality been removed? This is pretty critical to our use-case for using CommVault.Any help?Mike

Hi,We need to use HCL Domino 12 for security updates.  But the Commvault Backup agent for Domino does not support HCL Domino 12.HCL Domino 12 has a new backup integration feature, we plan to leverage this and use the Commvault via REST or Powershell to integrate with Commvault backup.Has anyone experience with integrating with Commvault using the REST API?Is there a product manager I can contact?Would love to here from the community! Lars

Good morning,I want to perform a Commvault upgrade in our infrastructure. We are currently on version 11.20 and I want to install the version 11.28Currently, the commserve and the SQL Server and the Media Agents are in version 12.Can we perform the upgrade directly on the current servers?Should we upgrade the SQL Server version from version 12 to version 16 on the Commserver which is in Windows 12 version?What is the best way to schedule our update?Thanks in advance.Best regards

we are currently using 11.20 for our environment since this one is on LTS.if we upgrade on the newest version with LTS which is 2022e. do we need to purchase a new one or we can use the existing license that we have without paying additional?

We are having Open VM System which are running critical application and we don’t see any detailed information about the backup protection method for Open VM System. We are having 2 different types of hardware for this VM system.ALPHA Server ES80 ModelBL860The OS versions are Open VMS8.3 and 8.4 respectively. Currently we are taking the backups using agent based  backup for these machine through the networker and customer is query on how the Commvault will protect these systems.

Hi, I have a list of 100+ clients in commvault. I will need to add new AD groups to existing permission role for these clients in security tab at both client level and file system level. Does anyone know how to use CLI to do it instead of going through GUI one by one?Once I have this CLI command I can put together something in Excel and run them in bulk. I know I can create a client group and add permission in this way but in our environment we have to do the change on clients. Kind regards,Boyi

Azure published Premium SSD V2 disk support 512 sector and 4K sector, will Commvault support 4K sector disk?

Hey everyone, so as the titles states we are running Commvault 11.20.82 on win 2012 R2. Right now we are just considering doing the OS upgrades as 11.20 is still LTS until 2025; but if there is simple way to do them both without breaking anything that would be great. From what I understand this is an agentless setup, with Commvault talking to the hypervisor/vcenter, and the server being a VM itself backing up to netapp storage. Let me know what you guys think would be the best way forward or point me in the right direction.

Hi,on my new DC (behind an internal Sophos firewall) i have installed the AD plugin for commvault.When i try to browse i can’t see the content of my AD.On other DCs (no FW between it) it works fine.The network admin says that nothing is blocked.He catches the traffic from DC to Mediagent and Commcell.What can causes this?RegardsDennis

I have a problem with block replication. 2 physical servers with windows, on the third one I have RP store. On each I have a CV agent.  The data is replicating but without recovery points. Synchronization status   - Replicating, with problems, Failed to open RP Store, will continue replicating in latest recovery mode until RP Store comes back online.BLrSvc error is 150:127  Can't find any solution for this problem. 

Hello Everyone,Currently our Synthetic Fulls that do our weekend backups are taking way to long and putting our system at risk.  They run well into Wednesday and they kick off on a Friday Night.  I have seen other posts about simultaneous Synthetics slowing down the system and we do have them running against one business server, however the way they were setup before my time each job is doing different sections of that drive.  I am trying to determine how to alleviate this issue.  Would SSD drives for our Media Agent help, we currently still have old mechanical drives installed.  Do we need to throw more processing power at the Server itself?  We are trying to roll into Metallic to replace tapes and at the speed the backups happen even if we can get our system to send to Metallic instead of tapes it will be so many days behind if we do have an issue we are pretty much dead in the water.  We are not a huge company, and I feel like a Synthetic is only supposed to write the new updated st

Hello! I know CBT is a VMware functionality that Commvault and other backup softwares use. Netbackup leverages the advantages of CBT on both full and incre/diff jobs. Does the same apply to Commvault? Check this doc from NBU: https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/doc/21902280-127283730-0/v27791754-127283730Backup of entire virtual machine, with full schedule: Backs up only the blocks that have changed since the .vmdk was created. Note that the blocks that are not initialized are excluded from the backup.
