We are using the File System setup for backups and I am trying to Setup a Live Sync to replicate from a WFS cluster client over to our NetApp NDMP or WFS that we have in stalled on Commvault. I don’t see the NetApp client listed for an option in the Destination list on Live Sync like other clients do. Is there any way to get the NetApp client added to the Destination list? 

Hello,Does anyone know a way to automate the shutdown procedure of an Hyperscale X cluster, maybe with a script?From the documentation there are some commands to perform, and we would need something that can be started without human input, and that can be scheduled in crontab.https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/132928_stopping_and_starting_hyperscale_x_reference_architecture_cluster.html Another useful thing would be a check command after the reboot to understand if everything was stopped “as expected” and that we are in a “clean” situation. ThanksLucio  

Hi All,I have upgraded the CommServe from 11.24 to 11.28.After the upgrade the windows do not open in Commcell Console - for example: Job Controller, Event Viewer, Alert, Scheduler, Commserve Browser,... Even the Commcell Console window itself does not close when I click the cross button.To check/reproduce it on another computer I ugraded the Commcell Console module on Media Agent server to 11.28 and the behavior is the same as on the CommServe server. Thanks for help,Lubos

Hi all,In Metallic is there a trick to reinstalling an agent on a server where Metallic was inadvertently uninstalled? When I try install locally it installs a second _2 instance, and I cannot Retire that instance because nobody in the Company seems to have permission to do so.And the Approvals page is empty.

Hi Commvault People, I am in the process of reworking our legacy filtering and exclusion settings.One thing which would be very beneficial is for the OS Filesystem agent to automatically exclude the database components from Filesystem backup, since we have the application agent already protecting the data. I then noticed this thread from this very forum which alluded to this being implemented in one of many possible service packs:-  However, it had different contributions from differing Commvaulters and was left a little open-ended. So I would like to ask the question again. If you have a SQL ida, and a Filesystem ida, is the Filesystem ida supposed to automatically exclude the database structures from backup?  Can I also throw Oracle into the mix here? From a backup config perspective this would be a big win, as I am currently looking at ways of implementing a scenario where a SQL or Oracle agent has its corresponding database components excluded. I can’t seem to get Livesync “test failover” to work with 11.28.24.   I got very close this time with the passive node able to restore the databases but failed when executing maintenance recovery tool.   Subsequently, all failover tests just failed on the fact that it couldn’t log in with sqladmin_cv.   I followed the instructions on how to get the databases out from restoring mode.. https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/105030_getting_database_out_of_restoring_mode.html   It almost seem like when it failed the first attempt, it left the configuration in a bad state which resulted in sqladmin_cv failing to log in on all subsequent tests.  I rebuild this so many times already...Any advice?   I appreciate your help and time.CSRecoveryAssistant.log 

Hello, Please, could you help me with the following question:When adding a tape library to a set of non-clustered MediaAgents, I add the whole library to all of them and they decide which drive they are using, so there is never a conflict between mediaagents and drive utilization.When adding disk libraries (SAN FC) to a set of MediaAgents, I add one disk library per MediaAgent because Mediaagents cannot manage the possible conflicts that could happen if they tried to access the same volume at a time (non-clustered MediaAgents). How does it work for NAS and cloud (s3) libraries?For NAS, should I add one share per MediaAgent?  or just one share for all MediaAgents? For S3, should I add one bucket per MediaAgent? or just one bucket for all MediaAgents? Thanks.Sergio

Hello, I have problems with recovering information from an email, which needs to be transferred to another computer but the computer that has that backup is no longer online but it still has its information, but when I want to send the recovery of the email The option to send it to another team is not displayed, but if I try it with another team it can be sent to another team. In this part I do not know if it is because the equipment is turned off. I appreciate your attention and I will read your comments  

Hi,After a Hardware refresh (SP24 MR 69) from Windows Server 2012 to Windows Server 2019 (including a database upgrade from SQL Server 2014 SP3 to SQL Server 2019), the Content Extractor and Data Analytics services won’t start.As a temporary workaround, I can make them start if I change the ‘Log On As’ from Network Service to Local System, but I would like to recover the default behavior. When I restart the services with this workaround, they get their default values back as I would expect (Network Service as Log On As).I was wondering if any of you had a similar problem and have suggestions on how to troubleshoot this.Thanks!

Hello good morning, I need your help, I have made a backup of a Hyper-V which has a Storage Policie with a main copy to disk and retention of 7 days and auxiliary copy to tape with retention of 20 days this operation identified with the Job Id "30030", for this the virtual machines that are within this hyper-v gets a VM job Id. Therefore what I would like to know is if the copy (StoreOnce or tape) of the VM Job Id 30084 VM I can send it to another different tape to which this with a different retention.I attach images. this is my Job Id 30030  this is my VM Job Id from which I need to send to a different tape with different retention.  

Hi guys, I have recevied the following message from the Customer. We are testing DR Backups to Commvault Cloud Services Portal. I did a request using admin account for backup download approval and got message that “Approvals are handled by Commvault.”. After few minutes I received approval from vmathada@commvault.com that request approved, and I was able to download backups.Could you please answer following questions:1) How Commvault decide what to approve and what not? Could you please describe process or maybe you have link to documentation?2) Can we somehow configure this approval mechanism? What are the options?3) Account that I used is simple “Commvault User” account with admin privileges in cloud.commvault.com. How can we protect such accounts? I mean multiple factor authentication for example. I didn’t manage to find such functionality. Can you help me, guys? I cannot find the answers. Rgds,Kamil

We recently upgraded to 11.28. We have used the metrics server to query the Monthly Chargeback table under CVCloud DB so we can get charges back to our customers. This no longer has any data. I did a query of pulling everything with no parameters and nothing is there. Hello, I am currently trying to replace a media agent. I have already migrated the DDB and set up the two buckets in Commvault on the new media agent. Now how can I transfer the entries that are shown to me for the library of the old media agent to the new one ? The library behind are always the same two buckets from our Object Storage. The marker on the screenshot is the library of the old media agent.  

Hi Good morning Team,In my environment we do have One Commserve two Media Agents ,the Two Media agents are Physical Window Boxes each media Agent associated 250 Clients machines each media agent having separate Libraries with two dedicated Media Paths which are conneted to Cmode Netapp storage ,now we have got request to move one of the media agent from current location to another location ( Lift and shift ) , so,as per my knowledge while lift and shift the media agent should be in maintenance mode and all the services will be disconnect from Commserve and start the movement , after reached the  media agent to destination location as per the location we need to change the IP as per that location and bring back to the up the machine , then we need to start all the services from commserve and media agents . But still i need more steps to perform this activity as below so if you can help it may well and much appreciate before Moving what are the steps Follow ? what steps should we do with

Hi Guys, I would like to know whether there are recommendations on the block size of the cloud library? We have a Cloud Storage in our data center, and we would like to use it for backup. On the storage, we have the ability to choose the block size. Do we need to specify the block size or keep it default (32 KB). Note: On disk library, we are used to formatting our local drive to 64 kb, however we didn’t find anything for cloud libraries.Thanks in advance. Best Regards

Hi,I just have a quick question:What does this mean?“This feature is not supported when bootable partitions are on the disk arrays (snapable disk).”Does it mean that if LPARs boot from SAN, it is not supported and only booting from internal disks is supported? please advise. Thanks!Sergio

Can Alert be configured for Skipped SQL DB's during the Backup?Email alert should be triggered and sent to recipients  Email alert should contain Skipped databases Instance Name and client name

Hello, Is is possible to restore old DR backup from tape to a staging location and then use those backup files to extract some job reports through sql queries without going through another installation? ThanksSandeep 

HI all, Metallic. When toggling “Disable backup location for future backups” in the mount path properties of an on-prem library, the settings seems to have no effect. If I return to or refresh the page the option is “un-toggled”.Anyone know how to prevent new backups from going to a particular mount path?Thanks,
