Hello friends,I need your kind help, I must make backups of some SQL Server databases and the strategy is to make them daily, weekly and monthly, but this does not allow me to create BackupSets for this purpose; and the databases that I register in a subclient removes them from the other subclients, is there any way I can continue with my daily, weekly and monthly strategy?It is to clarify that each daily, weekly and monthly backups are going to different tapes and also have a different retention. Thanks for any help you can give me. 😁

We have a tape library with two drives, Is it possible to have two secondary copies aimed to this same tape library and to start two auxiliary copies at the same time? My desired goal is to have at final two tapes with the same data so way to keep one of them on another safe offsite location.

We recently upgraded our Physical cluster to a Virtual Cluster.  In doing this we had to have the have the windows cluster with shared SCSI Bus for it to Failover.  We have no way to get around that.  CV does not back the VMs up with the following error.  “Virtual machine [Blah] is configured with shared virtual disks. Snapshot operations are not supported for shared disks. Use an in-guest agent to protect virtual machines with shared disks.”  I had opened a ticket with CV and they stated this is because the Snapshot can’t be created and recommended a Windows File System iDA.  My question is does anyone have any recommendations for a solution to get this cluster backed up, that is easy to restore onto our appliance in a Disaster situation?  I am guessing that would be an in-guest agent or the Windows File System iDA, but I honestly don’t know what that means or how to accomplish that.  Any suggestions would be great as we are hanging in the wind with these not getting backed up.  I

Hi, I have a customer who really needs to verify every SQL backup after it’s done. The person involved here is a DBA and he won’t have access to Commserve computer, the only access he would have is to Command Center interface with privileges limited only the servers he is administering.There is an option to run this using good old java console but it’s a manual job and it can only be accessed from java GUI as far as I know. I’m aware you can schedule it so it’s option no. 1. but there is no way to control this from Command Center nor there is to schedule it after every database backup, so it’s not good enough approach here.Is there a better way to set this up to run after every backup of particular SQL instances and ideally send an e-mail to the DBA of whether it succeeded or not? Any ideas would appreciated!

Hi I have this Commvault Live Sync setup, that have been setup for some years back. Hello team We have a group in commcell to hold sql credentials → client computer groups→ sql→ group properties→ advanced settings tab→ override higher levels settings → impersonate user → select the credential that we created in commcell credential manager. By doing this, any sql client in this group will inherit this particular service account that used for sql level backup/restore rather than set cred for each sql client.After upgrade to the latest release 2022E , we now have the option credential manager on Command center and the existing credentials have been auto-created by upgrade for sql credential manager support. I’m trying to associate the credential in command center to a sql plan, and unable to find the option(override higher levels settings\impersonate user) in the plan.  

Background: We set up “new” Oracle backups after we upgraded from v11 SP16 to SP24. These "ArchiveLog" subclient ( that is auto created upon adding a new Oracle Instance to a client) backups are taking “Fulls” every time they run. Our older Oracle "ArchiveLog" backups we configured in SP16 are taking incrementals.Question: Are “Fulls” for "Archive Log" backups the new normal/default configuration nowadays (SP224+)… or have I misconfigured something and “Incrementals” is the expected behavior for this subclient. Hi, I created a new copy in storage policy to copy backup jobs from the old disk library to a new disk library.Now the new copy is done I unticked ‘Active’ in the old copy so backup jobs don't go to the old disk library anymore.I didn't want to delete jobs in the old copy manually so I left it there and was hoping that jobs would expire naturally but it is not the case. Backup jobs in this old copy has reached the retention but they are still there. I ran forecast report and it said that there jobs are retained as ‘Copy Is Disabled’. So it looks like by disabling the Copy in the storage policy it disabled the data aging as well.My question is that without manually deleting these jobs, is there a way to let them expire naturally? Kind regards,Boyi Ou

Hi there, I’m currently working on building a workflow that is supposed to create a ticket in our cloud based ticketing system.Our servers that are running the workflow engine need a proxy to get to the internet. I have confirmed that I can access the URL with the browser and there is a proxy configured on CommVault → Control panel → Internet Options → HTTP Proxy. Hi GuysEach Subclient that gets created has 200+ Parameters and Options, some are set always, some not, new ones get added with every FeatureReleases and Default-Values might change with every other MaintenanceRelease. After couple of years I now have a Zoo full of varying configurations that I need to consolidate to a hand full of standards.Anybody know a convenient way to gather all available Options for a given Subclient-Type? Intention is to gather a giant table to be able to compare f.E. setting up same diskCleanupRules for all FIleSystem Agents.Tried to extract the Data from App_GetSubClientPropertiesResponse xml-Output but couldn’t find a good way to extract all Entity and Attribute Paths as source for a XPath-Query Loop through everything.  XPath 3.0 would support something like “//@*/path()” to do that in a one-liner but Commvault Java stack doesn’t seem to support that.Anybody had the same challenge and found a solutionBest Regards

Is there a canonical way using the Powershelll SDK V2 to tell the Linux media agents from the Windows media agents? (When it comes time each month to apply Windows patches, putting the Linux media agents into maintenance mode just because they’re media agents aggravates my OCD.) 

Getting below message while restoring deleted mailbox.  Metallic doesn’t create a mailbox? while doing the restore.  Mailbox [xxxxx] not found on O365 exchange and possibly deleted. Please make sure user mailbox is present or create one to restore data inplace.

Hello teamMy Commvault is 11.20. In one of my storage policy I observed following problem. Index full backup jobs seems not to be aged. As far as I know system keeps only a few copies of full index backup. Schedule and cleanup rules are default. Retentions for this storage policy is no more than 1 month.I see almost 40 jobs of full index backup from January this year until now. Every job has a copy on disk and a tape on storage policy. Data retention forecast report says aging of these jobs are according to index rule. Backups are small but it is annoying because old single copy of job takes full LTO8.What is the cause of this behaviour ?Is there any problem with index cache ?How can I check it ?Can I manually delete old index backup jobs ?Thanks for any advice.Regards,

It’s True!! If you dont use it -- you lose it!!So I forget how to do this...We are rolling out some new Hyperscale X  and was getting around to some cleanup to make things a little easier to read for new staff etc. I used to be able to assign a Plan or Storage policy to a clinet group. And now-- i completely forget how i did it in the past. Any help reminding me how to do it?  Also - There used to  be a workflow item for this as well.
