Im looking at the Reports | Commcell | Health on the webconsole and I see the Health report gives me a 1 Critical notification.  When I click on the Critical notification its giving me the following:  So when I saw that I ran the “DBMaintenance.exe -recommended” command from the BASE directory  I figured I would see a difference in the Date etc on the Report…  Not sure how the Report is getting its info or date.  Still consider myself a entry level commvault user.BTW we are on commvault 11.24.38.Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. ThanksBC  

Hi Commvault People, An interesting issue which cropped up when reviewing our environment recently. Back in the V9 days, Commvault used to provide a shedload of recommended filters, such as **.TMP and all that kind of thing. Subsequently that was added to, based on the customer requirements, such as mdf, ldf for those of us that are using SQL agents. And all of these filters were added into the Global Filters or Cell Level etc.However …. i noticed that in V11, that Commvault will exclude files from backup based on a registry key in windows which has a pre-assembled list of items to be excluded. https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/127043_default_backup_filters_for_windows.html So you don’t have now exclude those old-school V9 filters

Hi, we imported Data from the Mailbox Classic Agent to the newer Mailbox Agent. Now we want to delete the old Client in Commvault. Is this possible or do we lose all the data from the old Agent? Kind Regards Florian 

Hello,We recently moved Commvault/Commcell to a new server (same domain) because the old one did not have enough place on it for the disks backups.We had it installed on a server named SPGEOFS01We moved it (the technician) on new server called SVGEOCVCSNow, the name on the new client still is SPGEOFS01 I want to add the old Commvault server that still exists and was wiped to host data (SPGEOFS01) But I get conflicts since the name has not changed to SVGEOCVCS everywhere and it tells me that the client already exists.Did our technician do something wrong during the switch ? How can I fix this ? He says it can be days before he finds a solution. Thank you for your help,Felix  

Morning,We’ve recently updated from 11.24.34 to 11.24.52, and are receiving “Unable to start SnapDiff V2 session” events.  I see in the patchnotes for 11.24.49 that snapdiff will now attempt v2 before falling back to v1.  Our infrastructure is setup for Snapdiff v1, is there a global setting I can modify to stop the commserve attempting to use SnapDiff v2?  I was unable to find anything with a search of the documentation.Thanks.

A user may have deleted emails, but I do not have specific time as to when.  Is there a way to see the mailbox size for each day it was backed up? 

hi, we have this error on one of our Linux server:clBackupChild...log: ClBackupFile::ReadAndSendFileData(4073) - read(<filepath>) failed error [5]It looks like the filesystem has some issues. The problem is: commvault does not backup the rest of the files, as it get stuck. We have to commit the job.Backup pending: failed to close Metadata file for error [-1]Could not back up [0] folders and [1] files.Is there an option to continue on (a specific) error for one client? Found this advanced option: backupDoNotReportFileError but not sure if this is the right one and also not sure what value is the right for this option.

Commcell v11Backed up server folder needs to be restored from multiple backups which are on multiple tapes over a one year timespan. (38 Full BU)We need all backup from the full year. Looking for a way to complete this short of doing individual recoveries. Suggestions?Thank you.

I am trying to find out if there is a report that I can run for each of my Schedule Policies.  Currently when checking backups from the night before I go into Schedule Policy, go to each of our policies and view jobs.  I can then verify if it went to tape or even look deeper to see what files were backed up.  Is there a report that I could run each night so in the morning I just have reports for each one that I can easily view pretty much the same info of all the Subclients under each policy and the stats for the previous nights backup?  I realize I may have to dig into creating my own reports, which I am still figuring out.  Thank you for any help in pointing me in the right direction.

Good afternoon folks,We currently have our CV environment installed on-premise and we are looking to test our backups by restoring our VMs (VMWare) into an isolated VPC in AWS which is working great.Whilst attempting to restore SQL to this isolated environment I have noticed it only gives me the option to restore to one of our existing SQL servers, I assume it is looking for those clients that have the CV agent installed.I am wondering what my options are for restoring to this isolated AWS VPC - or if this is not possible at all.

Hi all, A customer has recently brought this to our attention that within their environment there is an outdated version of the jQuery being utilised via their WebConsole. They are currently running 11.20.85 and the version of jQuery they are still using is 2.1.3 which has known vulnerabilities. I am aware of there being another topic open for a similar, if not same, issue.https://community.commvault.com/topic/show?tid=988&fid=2However, this does not look to have a promising resolve, is there a resolve to mitigate these vulnerabilities or force the webconsole to utilise a more updated version of the jQuery?  Kind regards, Jonathan

Hi all,This may be obvious to a more seasoned linux user but I had a task recently to apply a syslog filter file to many servers.  After testing the filter file successfully, I opted to use Commvault to deploy the filter file to the destination servers using the same path (which worked fine).I included the command below to restart the rsyslog service after the restore in the Advanced > Pre/Post > Post Recovery Command and I checked the “Use local system account” option to run as root.systemctl restart rsyslog.serviceI received the error below:Unable to run [systemctl] on the client. When writing some programs especially for business purpose, we need to implemente "proper" error handling to avoid unexpected errors, this is applicable when we write Commvault workflows. But sometimes it's slightly tricky to capture exception happened in some activities, without care the workflow itself simply stops with error, if the workflow is set as Job mode the job is sit pending. To avoid this situation you need to set 2 parameters in the activity you want to capture the event, which is described in the following Documentation but not so intuitive: General Properties for Workflow ActivitiesFor testing, we create a Script activity which simply raise exceptions (divide by zero) as follows:

SAP HANA Logcommandline Backup is invoked from HANA side (HANA Studio configuration), it automatically converted to Commvault backup jobs and normally there's nothing we should do, running every 15 minutes by default per HANA's setting.But this job is slightly different from the other "normal" jobs, when any interim errors, like disconnection of networks, shortage of Commvault resources (typically # of streams on libraries or strage policy copy level), the job would fail.As mentioned above, this job would repeat every 15 minutes (by default), so any failure would be recovered quickly so typically end user won't lose any of data. But sometimes there's another issues might be at CS/MA side, hard to keep watching even setting up alerts, job monitoring, etc. This is to list up all failure reasons from CSDB quickly (for a Japanese customer), if any suspicious errors identified you can dig into the specific job for detailed research:

My CommVault Metallic cloud storage hit 100% full.  I’ve deleted several months worth of backups and have run the data aging process multiple times but it still reports as 100% full.  What’s the trick to freeing up space on Metallic cloud storage?Ken
