Hi all,I’m looking to configure Disaster Recovery for VMware. The documentation and the configuration is quite clear. I am perplexed by the configuration of the VM network, in particular the mapping of the source network to the destination network. When I configure the recovery target (destination vCenter) it’s possible to configure only one target network, instead of having the possiblity to configure a complete mapping of all existing networks. The only way I found to configure the network mapping is to do it VM for VM, network adapter for network adapter, making the configuration impossible if in front of hundreds/thousands of VM.Is there any way to configure it globally? Are there any possibility to implement this functionallity in the future releases? ThanksFabrizio
You might have heard that CommCell views are an easy way to start building your own custom reports. While you can use any table from the CommServe database to create a data set for a new report, the data that you see in those tables doesn’t always make sense to a human. CommCell views are saved queries of the CommServe database, and they are available in every CommServe installation by default. These views display human-readable information from the database so you can find information that’s relevant to the report you’re trying to create.Preview Data in SQL Server Management StudioYou can run CommCell views and see the results using SQL Server Management Studio, which is installed along with the CommServe software on the CommServe computer. There are many CommCell views, so if you just want to look at everything that’s available, SQL Server Management Studio is a good place to start. Log on to your CommServe computer. Click Start > Programs > Microsoft_SQL_Server_version > SQ
My commvault Server is on VM on vmware and when i search for any backup history it takes 2-3 minutes to display the results. While for another client who is having phsyical server with same configuration , the result is instant.what could be reason? where should i look for trooubleshooting
I feel like I’m missing the Capt. Obvious clue in how the Rules are intended to be used in Command Center when setting up a VM group. In the old java UI, I would have content which is easy to define, and then my filters. Where does the ability to filter (exclude) come in with the Rule function? It seems to be not completely baked yet. Here’s the scenario: We have 100’s of VMs with a custom attribute defined with a value of “false” telling the old schedule/SP method of backups to filter those VMs out. I am trying ot convert to plans and doing this all via Command Center but regardless of what I build my rules as, this seems to more of an include (content) based rule system rather than a filter based exclude list. Sure, I get that I can toggle some things like power state on/off, or template true/false, but filtering seems to be much more obscure here than in Java land. Is this by design or what am I missing?thanks
Hello Commvault Community, Today I would like to ask you about Oracle out of place database recovery, specifically about TEMP table space recovery. The problem appears when Oracle DB is restored out of place. It’s full restore of DB - with control files but without spfile. The name of the target database is different from the original name. Both the original and target environments have database files located on ASM disks, however the ASM group names on the two servers are not identical. After entering the appropriate fields in the Redirect tab (as in the attachment), all database files except are restored correctly, but the tablespace Temp file aren’t. The Temp tablespace is created, but I have to create the database file with the sql command after logging into the database. Each time the restore job on the Commvault side was Completed, with no errors. Please let me know what I should enter in the Redirect Temp Table Spaces field if I expect the temporary tablespace file to be restore
Hello,Please advise or send instructions. how to set up a report or check in the Commcell console computers that have not had a backup for a long time or the backup does not work.Thank you
Is it possible to make a full backup of a physical server in order to be able to restore it on my vCenter? 🤔
accidentally, A path for hybrid file store cache directory is configured.I suspect that this path affect my jobs, I want to remove it.when I just delete the path text, I get error to enter valid cache directory
Hello, We have a problem with CommServe. We have 2 physical servers. We’ve 3 instances on each server:Instance 001 - CSInstance 002 - CS_failoverInstance 003 - MAOn Windows is configured Windows Faiover Cluster (for GRID, for MediaAgents) When Windows is member on Windows Faiover Cluster, Commserve Communication will be not established (failed to communicate with Instance 002, 003 on the same server and second server).Telnet is OK, but chceck readiness and for example Transaction Logs not working. Nextly, when I restart the server, communication will be OK. But when I restart Instance001 on Process Manager, the problem will reappears. When we delete Windows from Windows Faiover Cluster, CS looks OK.Do You know any resolutions? Is this Configuration supported? Best RegardsKarol
I am investigating a performance issue on a server that is both client and media agent.Looking in the PerformanceMetrics.log file I see the metrics for CPU load on some CV processes. But they seem always to be at zero.Isn’t those collected into the log file or does something need to be enabled for them to get there. I’ve attached a screenshot of that section from the log file
Hi all, I have a question about the OS requirements for the CommServe. https://documentation.commvault.com/11.26/expert/2801_commserve_server_system_requirements_windows_01.html Windows 2012(R2) is not listed anymore, so I suppose it is not supported anymore for the CommServe. However, the note directly above the table says “The Commvault software fully supports the most recent version of an operating system, until the vendor ends support.”. Windows 2012R2 is Supported by Microsoft until October 10, 2023. So, is Windows 2012R2 still supported for the CommServe, or not?And if not, why does the note suggest it is? Thanks for clarifying. :-)
Hello all,I just want to know why the orphaned media ilooks different in console and documentation (Version is V11.26.23):Console: Docuentation: There are no media in this folder. And where do we find orphaned media in Command Center?Thank you very much.
Hello All,Do we support IntelliSnap over the oracle database running on Exadata? If yes, what is the system requirements? is there any documentation link which i can refer to specific to ExadataRegardsAnanth
Hi guys, For a specific need, I wanted to create VMs MA with VMware. As the goal of the virtualization part, it to be able to control the power state of the VMs.I know that Commvault has “VM Power Management” which offers the possibility to control VMs. But I still have confusions on how to implement this, does my VMs have to be added as client first on my commcell then install the MA package, or do they have to be added in a separate way ? The final goal is to be able to shut down a VM MA after an aux copy job.Any tips would be much appreciated Regards.
ErrorI get the above error when try to restore from secondary snap volume. May i know why it cant get snapshot information stored in DB at first place?
Hi Community,I have a question about backup SAP HANA. I have upgraded commserve and media agent from sp6 to sp24, after upgrade completed Commvault can’t backup SAP HANA. In the Job log file detail : “ Reserving resources for SAP HANA.Resource reservation request start time=[]Allocating streamallocationGenericResource() - Failed to create shared memory. error code =28freeOpenHandles - deleteSharedMemory failed, handel=-1, Ptr=0 returnCode = 22Fail to request jobmanager. The required resource could not be allocated; Please retry your job later. “ Please advise me what should I do for this issue.Thank you
Hi Team, What kind of information do CacheDB and ResourceMgrDB DBs store, what are their duties? It is stated in the BOL below that it is non-critical, but it does not say what kind of information they store.https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/96200_commserve_recovery_frequently_asked_questions.html

Good morning, Does anyone have an example of configuration of Continuous Data Replication examplesI need to do a Site 1 to Site 2 replication of files only, it seems very simple, but I can't find an example! waitRicardo
We are Planning to deploy the new CommCell console. As i understand, by default it comes with the evail license and we have to apply the permanent license within 90 days. Ca we run backups in evaluation mode or we have to wait for permanent license key.
Noob alert! Hi everyone, I fear our DR damaged or our "Storage policies\CommServeDR" Policy is misconfigured, because since a month, the DDB Verification Job are constantly failing. Short resume/background: 1)We store our Backups and DR in a Network-Storage. Our Commvault Version is 11.25.28. 2)I tried backing up and restoring files, and it works. I did test DR restore (In March) using this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1H4w2CYdf4c).3)As always users can still run backups, restore data, etc. but we get lots DDB-Verification failures and DR "Completes" but with errors.4)In Commcell, if you try to browse to our Network DR folder(Commcell\Control Panel\Maintenance\DR Backup\"Back up Metadata to this folder"), we get the following message "incorrect password or unknown username to selected access path" I checked the credentials and also check if server can reach the Path. Pass, User and Path are fine but still the message persist. Errors from DR jobs:CommServeDR: Destination Direc
Hi Team, i got several Servers which have the Filesystem & SQL Agent installed. I grouped them based on agent to a SQL group. Now i wanted to give the SQL Admins the permission to backup & restore SQL instances. Unfortunately the grouping of “Client Computer Groups” with SQL Agent counts for the Whole “Client” so when i add the SQL Admins as Backup / Restore user on that group they can also restore / backup on the Filesystem Agent ( as the Client is added not only the SQL Agent ) so is there a way to just allow the SQL agent and exclude the other Agents with an automatic association? ( the only way i found is manually just give the right on each Client Agent itself…. )
I'll briefly explain my problem:Our customers use a Huawei cloud platform with the production site in Milan, while the DR site is always done for the cloud in Bologna. Now a commvault platform is installed in production for backups with release 11.20, while on the DR site I have not installed commvault services. My question is simple, in case of loss of the production site is it possible to manually restore the commvault services on the DR site?ThksDario
Hello Community,I keep on wondering about one thing. There’s a feature called Ransomware Protection which is allowing MediaAgents to protect Libraries and Mount Paths. In terms of local storage there’s kind of lock being provided. What if there’s cloud storage in place e.g. Azure or GCP connected to MediaAgent? There’s still some kind of lock in place which is preventing objects from being modified by non-commvault tasks?
Hi guys, do you know how to fix this thing? I want to delete snapshots manually from array management and get this error...Error Code: [19:2018]Description: Workflow [Snap-UserOperations] completed with one or more errors.Source: xxx, Process: WorkflowNo Host found with HostId [10633]. Failed snap volumes will be handled later by the automatic clean up process.Source: xxxx, Process: WorkflowI ran the data aging (i think this the forementioned ‘automatic clean up process’) - nothing changed...
