Need some suggestion :What is the recommended way to configure Commvault logs in Splunk . Which will provide you more control over the logs .To use Commvault Splunk app https://splunkbase.splunk.com/app/5718/ . To configure syslog server and then move logs from CommVault to syslog and create your own dashboards , reports in Splunk .Does using the app provide something more which we can not get if we configure our monitoring based on the logs of syslog.Can the app dashboards and reports be customized or create new reports/dashboards as per the requirements ?

We have a VMware vcenter, through which we browse and backup VMs.  We would like to backup the appliance, what is the best practise. Using same VMware snapshot backup?

Hi, If a VM has the setting to Disable VSS application quiescing in VMware Tools, will this affect the VADP initiated quiescing through CV VSA backup? Will it at all affect the Filesystem and Application Consistent (quiesced) data protection operation?/Patrik 

When restoring a database into the SQL instance, how much diskspace is needed at the destination server?I know that its a question about how large the database is. But if the database is at 10TB, will it be enough with 10TB of free space or will it need more space as part of the restore process? I know that it’s a bad idea only to have the exact space needed available, so the numbers are just a theoretical. So what is the proces behind the scenes when restoring a database?Br. I have commserv at 11.22.57 and planning to go with 11.25.xx once 11.27 is released want to replace stand by commserv ( windows to linux) and later production ( windows to linux) at this movement the windows commserv can be allowed to have live sync to linux stand by commserv ? 

Curious if there’s a better way for users with specific roles to access the Commcell other than  the CommVault Simpana.jnlp.  I downloaded/extracted netx.jar and it opened to the Commcell a couple times, then failed.  Thx!

Hi guys, yesterday I tripped over an interesting information in my Commcell Event Viewer. User [admin] attempt to log on was denied.Severity: InformationProgram: EvMgrSI got this entry every 2-5 minutes and I ask myself where it comes from because I thought we don’t use this user. There is no use of user ‘admin’ in task scheduler or in our Automic UC4.Any idea where I can find further information?Thanks in advanceChristian

Hi,We have a MSP customer that is backing up Virtual Machines for several customers using VMWare vCloud Director.Currently they are using the automatically created “Smart Client Group”, which is created whenever a new company is created to automatically assign Virtual Machines to these companies. In this Smart Client Group, they add a rule to include all Virtual Machines in a specific subclient that was created for this company under the vCloud Director client.This works “ok”, but it’s making this rather complex and they would like to know if it’s possible to assign a subclient/VM group to a company directly, so all new Virtual Machines that are discovered in this subclient/VM group are automatically assigned to that company. (Without the use of these Smart Client Groups)I have gone through the documentation website, but haven’t found anything specific. Does anybody else have experience with this?Jeremy 

Hi,We are having an issue with a VSA Proxy Running on RHEL 8.2. (11.21.24)When we start a VM backup, the VSDiscovery phase seems to go well and complete, however the VSBackup phase hangs with error “The control process for the previous phase is still running. Because of a bug, my cloud storage hit 100% full and not all year-end backups were replicated to the cloud.  I’ve worked with CommVault support and now have 50% free space.  Even though the Aux Copy job has run several times, there are still year-end backups that haven’t replicated to cloud storage.  How do I get CommVault to copy the missing backups?Ken

I need to create a Monthly LSR for a specific customer but cannot see the options in the LSR config to specify the Client Computer Groups for the customer required.Any help / advise would be greatly appreciated.Thanks

Hey guys,I’ve recently upgraded my Commvault comserve and media agent and now im in the part of updating all the agents.Some of the agents I was able to schedule upgrade through the commcell console but some have the Update Status as ‘Not Applicable’.(image attached) What does that mean?Do I need to go over these machines and manually install the agent?Thanks!

I have five subscription in one Azure region, plan to deploy MA & VSA in each subscription, plan to deploy one Commvault server in the region. Any logic to select subscription for Commvault server? for example, the Commvault server should be in the subscription which  request more backup demand, or ping result is less than 200ms, etc.

Hi Community, I’m facing an issue, and maybe some of you already experienced it. We had a client associated to a storage policy, which was working fine, we added a new MA and created a storage policy with this new MA. After that, we wanted to associate the client to the newly created storage policy in order to use the new MA. After changing the storage policy, we faced an issue with backups, indexing wasn’t working properly, which we fixed by changing the index server of the backupset of the client from the old MA to the new one, and now we are facing an issue where we cannot restore anymore (Below a screenshot).Please note that we restarted all services for all Commserve, old MA, new MA.In the DATA RECOVERY JOBS summary, we have a CommServe Management jobs with the storage policy index as
