Hello all, I want to restore a folder from a mailbox exchange form a DAG. The ddb where is located the box is 500 GB. Must have an equal space, see larger on my proxy exchange in order to restore the ddb completely to recover this folder ? 

We use another vendor to backup AD and looking into leveraging One touch for scenarios where AD is completely down. I’m aware we’d have to log in locally to the Commcell to even start. But has anyone done this with One Touch before? I’m thinking a simple Authoritative System State restore should work but just wanted to know what other folks experiences have been. Do we even need to use One Touch for this?Many thanks

When trying to install the Unix file system agent on a new machine.  I use the following procedure.Create the client on the Commserver,but only for the purpose of being able to create a certificate. On the new client, run the cvpkgadd program.  When it asks if there is a firewall, I say “no”.  There is a firewall, but sufficient ports are open that when using the installer from Sp18 that it works fine.  Using any installer SP20 or later, it us unable to establish a proper connection to the Commserver. If I tell it there is a firewall, and it tries using port 8403, it still times out.  I have verified that the Commserve is reachable from the new client on that port. When using SP18, once the installer has completed, then I go into the commserve and provide firewall settings, push the network config and perform a check readiness. I can then update the software to SP23 from the commserve.The SP18 installer does not h

Commvault new licensing model very straight forward, but when we compare with earlier version its very flexible to match customer requirement. New license good for some one using hypervisor environment and if they planning to move cloud. But this new licensing model not suitable for onprem setup like they are using physical servers and are they have to backup separate NAS server etc….because its very costly backup solution.

I configured cloud storage with DDB and plan to enable WORM copy. 1, I’m new on CV,  could you guide me how to delete backup set and change retention? want to validate after enable WORM copy on storage. 2, We could enable WORM copy on CV level to make sure no one will delete backup set, any suggestion to protect container on Azure blob? want to make sure no one could delete it?

Hi, today customers are more and more thinking about hybrid solution. We got the following question: “We would like to implement an hybrid environment (one DC & AWS). In the DC, we have some physical Windows/Linux computers. In case of DR, would it be possible to convert those physical computers to Virtual machines in AWS from a backup residing in AWS?”.Well, in the Commvault documentation, I saw that the possibility exists to convert physical Windows machines to Azure (Virtualize Me). Are there any plans to convert AWS (also for physical Linux computers)?Thanks.

Hello guys, I’m running a MS SQL backup via VM in Nutanix and even I disabling the Intellisnap in the client everytime a backup start a backup of snap start to run. I checked in the Command Center and in the configurations the Intellisnap is disabled. My concern in this is because the license of snap is being applied and I don’t want to.Is there something that I can do to disable permanently to not use Intellisnap in this case?

Media Agent - installation directory drive is getting full due to Temp folder C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\Base\TempThere are several files start with CVRF*  . why this folder is filled up? Can we delete all these files?

Maybe How are mutliple acces nodes used in NAS CIFS share backups? Load-balancing or failover or both? Is it possble to configure this? I did not find this in CV documentation. Thanks at all.

What’s the proper way to inform Dev of a REST API call I’d like them to implement? Are CMRs the way to go, or is there a different channel? The reason I hope for a different channel is that my former TAM assured me Dev wants to know what REST API calls we want/need since they’re trying to wean us from calling SQL database tables directly, so I hope they’re showing their support for with with a specific way of asking. (If you’re wondering: I want ways to list subclients that, for example, are of a specific agent type. For that matter, I want a REST API call to show me the agent types in use in a CommCell. Both of these are in support of being to allow users to ask about backups of agent types they support.)

We have a file server cluster with four nodes. Each node has a certain number of resources (drives) which can also move from one node to another. The second node had to be taken out of the cluster a few weeks ago and is now operational again. If resources move to this node, they can no longer be backed up, because the Commvault plugin does not recognize this. It only works again when I select the resource in Commvault and then perform a manual synchronization. Has anyone ever had this problem ? I also have a few screenshots attached to visualize the problem a bit.RegardsThomas

Hello.Is it possible to have aux copies configured between different CommCell entities?Same company but different business units in different buildings requiring offsite backup copies but is trying to make use of the infrastructure of the other already existing in their environment.This is probably possible when installing a second instance on the existing MA but will require separate disk libraries entities at that site.Thanks.Iggy 

Hello,during regular DR-Tests we see problems with the jobresults directory usage for larger DBs (1 TB+):Error Code: [30:375]Description: Encountered error while writing to the file. Error code [28]. Please make sure there is enough disk space on [C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\iDataAgent\JobResults\CV_JobResults\2\0\4455051\RstStage].Source: Clientname, Process: SQLiDACV stages the whole database there, so we must add an additional 3-5 TB disk for that in the DR-Site on each larger machine. We have also bigger SQL machines which does not consume that much of space in the Job Results Directoy, even when the Jobresultsdirectory size is smaller than the size of DB we are restoring.Does anybody know why this is different between SQL-Systems? 

Is this possible or any better ideas?Problem: Remote office with a small VMware setup where CV agents on clients not permitted.  If agents could be installed it would be a simple case of client-side deduplication so they could be backed up remotely. To get deduplication happening would it possible to use a VM-proxy at the remote site send backup data to the data center?   The idea would be:Remote ESX → Remote Proxy …..can’t be deduped because no agent to do itRemote Proxy → data center media agent ….deduped on the proxyRestore will be obviously fully hydrated...they are prepared to live with.

Hey,This is not the first time this happens to me and every time it is an issue since it fills up the disk and it wont release the space until (at least) I either reboot the media agent or add a advsetting key (CLEANUP_TEMP_DB_DAYS = 0). In this case, particular case, i have done both and still wont release the space.Long story short, any time I request a browse from a job that is available on disk but is fairly old, the media agent kicks off a Index Restore, since those indexes are not on media agent anymore. The index kicks in, and thats when the operation starts to fill up the disk. (always with NDMP (V2) that are massive).So, I then, I cancel my browse request, but it is too late now, the background tasks will continue to a point where it fill up the disk.

I try to do SQL DB point-in-time restore, may I restore SQL DB as new database name? looks like I  have to do SQL DB point-in-time restore to original location.

According to the documentation, “If you are using an earlier version of the operating system, you can optimize the usage of these resources by setting the kernel parameter values” but, the documentation does not make it clear which versions to consider.Does it apply to a Linux release 7.9.2009 (Core) (3.10.0-1160.42.2.el7.x86_64)?And what about number_of_desired_streams?SEMMSL = 12 * number_of_desired_streamsHow to calculate the number of desired streams? Is it the sum of the values for Desired Streams from all the Associated Storage Policies?  

Hello, I have HS 1300 ( HS 1.5) appliance deployed couple of years ago which came up with the RHEL 7.4.unfortunately the folks who involved during deployment has left the organization and no where the infromation maintained except the login credentials do we have any documentation link or steps to be followed to gather the information like below ports details bonds details ( which ports been part of bond)and disk details , etc

What’s the easiest way to confirm a Cool/Archive cloud library is working? I have migrated data from a Hot storage blob container. I provisioned an additional storage container as Hot in Azure and provisioned it as Cool/Archive as recommended by Commvault. I attempted a restore of a file from this Archive library and the restore just completed as normal without the use of a workflow so I’m worried the data isn’t in the Archive tier as expected. Any ideas how to confirm the data is actually in Archive and Metadata is in Cool? And why was the restore just standard? 

Hi Guys, I have a question. Is any way to filter RDM disks that are added to VM that is a  part of oVirt environment? The Customer is getting the following error during backup job:  I cannot see any Disk Filter option in Subclient Properties.  BOL doesn’t say anyting about diks filters, too. https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=31946.htm Is any way to exclude RDM disk, so the Customer may be sure that the backup of VM is fine? Anyway, I can see that backup status is Completed with on or more errors.  Does it mean that the VM was completely backed up and only RDM disks were ignored / skipped? Rgds,Kamil

Hi all!I would like to discuss following situation. We are unable to change retention under Storage Policy Properites → Storage Policy Copy of Primary. After changing the value and clicking OK we see no real changes performed.Is it possible that this setting is somewhere blocked or overwritten by another settings?
