It is about the vulnerability CVE 2021 36934 (“Hive Nightmare”) were Microsoft recommends to limit the access to \system32\config.https://msrc.microsoft.com/update-guide/vulnerability/CVE-2021-36934 Microsoft states there, that their workaround can impact third party backup solutions. Is Commvault able to manage Vmware guest, Array to Array based replication with Pure Storage arrays?In the documentation it looks like it can do it for NetAPP.  I would love to be able to set this up with my Pure Storage arrays.https://documentation.commvault.com/11.21/essential/123160_array_based_replication_for_virtual_machines.htmlAlso in the Array management portion of the Java GUI.  For the Pure Storage array I do see some fields about target array for replication… but I can not find much about it..Thank you,

In looking through the topics around communication with Clients in firewalled environments there is the discussion around using host files on those clients when no DNS resolution is possible.  In configuring a cvfwd.txt distribution file in the client group there doesn’t appear to be a way to also include the IP addresses of the Media Agents or Commserve.  There is the notion of the Network Proxy Appliance, however again we have a DNS dependency.  For small groups of clients it doesn’t make sense to deploy said appliance, rather hosts file seems more reasonable. If the cvfwd.txt file contains the names of the Commserve and Media Agents why not give us the ability to control the IP address used ( for NAT”d networks ), and just leverage the current IP’s of the Commserve and MA’s if appropriate ( for non-NAT’d networks )?Looking for a reason why the hosts file is the chosen method here, rather than providing all that functionality right in the cvfwd.txt file?   

Hello Commvault Community,  I noticed a problem at the client, where when trying to generate a dump of the CommServe database, it does not generate it correctly. A file with the .bak extension is generated in its place.I would like to ask for help in solving the problem, it is a key element in environmental recovery (DR). Thanks for help,RegardsKamil

Hi,after i do the latest vCenter Update to 7.0.2.00400 Build 18356314 i get in my virtual machine agent the following error:Error creating virtual machine snapshot.  Permission to perform this operation was denied.  Snapshot creation attempt took [00:00:00]The error only occur at the vCLS, see screenshot: Anyone an idea what this can be?ThanksDennis

Is it possible to install the BoostFS library on a HyperScale X Media Agent, and if so is it supported?I’m looking to write a additional backup copy to storage outside of the appliance and hope I can do it in a deduplicated manner rather than having to send a full copy to the data domain.  The topic of BoostFS is discussed on https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=9404.htm#o132281, but nothing specific to HyperScale X and BoostFS at https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=128105.htm.Thanks

Hello Community We have two Commcells, one based here in the UK and one in the US.  The issue I have is I cannot use one email address to log calls in both environments.  It seems sub accounts do not have the ability to do this.  I spoke to support and they sent me this Sub-Account MANAGEMENT IN THE MAINTENANCE ADVANTAGE CUSTOMER SUPPORT PORTAL (commvault.com)  however there is no mention of merging accounts to use both CommCell’s.  This was something that our account manager said could be done. Alas, Im struggling to see how this is done, as I get this message when ting to create a new sub account and get this message on the US Commcell Please be advised that e-mail addresses must be unique to each contact. Is it possible to get a history of all the backups commvault has carried on a client out since it was configured? even the pruned/aged jobs?

Hello,Is there someone that can interpret and let me know my assumption on the switches in the below command to are.-j = jobId-i = Deduplication Partition-c = ??-in = CV Instance-cn = Client-group = ??“C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\Base\SIDB2.exe -j 0 -i 74 -c 178 -in Instance001 -cn client-server 1 -group 0”Also, if anyone know why the above doesen’t have a JobId, or rather why it’s 0. Is it just an internal thing to the SIDB2 process?I’ve seen the command have -j 0 as well as a -j xyz jobId that is searchable. BRHenrik 

Hi,we use Commvault Simpana 11 with a TB licence model.I backup my Windows fileserver with a file agent and i plan to migrate this to VMWare virtual server agent.How is the behavior because of the TB capacity?Do i need 6 tb for the transition period until the data from the file server agent is aged out? Thanks and RegardsDennis

Has anyone experimented with the “Automatically use optimal number of data readers”?I set this on some test SubClients and it is defaulting to 1 regardless of what the manual setting is. This results in jobs taking dramatically longer? Does anyone know how the readers are optimised?Why does it default to 1 regardless of the starting position?

With a vcenter migration to a new vcenter what happens to the job history after the vm has been moved?   Let say perhaps there is a infinite retention set on job and the vm is moved to the new vcenter, does that job now need to be deleted? Thanks

We have a need to restore from HNAS backups.  Currently the only way to restore is via a share path to its original destination.  With our subclients having many shares as its content, what is the best way of performing large capacity restores, (TBs)?

Hello Guys;Let me explain what it happens to me on the commserve environment. I have vmware backup tape backups but on the job history for those backups i can't see in which media the backup copies were copied, i can only see where the primary snap are saved.To be able to see those tape backups copies I have to go to all the way to the storage policy and select the option tape and select view jobs and select all the servers to see in which media they were copied.Is there a way to solved the little issue?? By the way i have version 11.20.60 of commserve.

For existing clients on where you push out application/database agents afterwards you most of the time have to run the cvpkgchg command to replace the permissions. Hi All, We recently had an issue where 1 client Commvault client certificate did not get renewed, our supported customer is a bit on edge and wants to get a report of all Commvault client certificates, when they were issued and their expiry date.Understand that Commvault auto renews the certificate 2 weeks before expiry and the details I require can be found in the Commcell Console but need to understand if such a report can be created, either from the web console, the commcell console or via the Commvault CLI that can be created in a .csv or html format.Any help would be appreciated.ThanksTom

how to automate items listed in file browse at the moment we have a tapeout process which puts some imoprtant files to tape every month end; when a new file is added; we have to manually verify what files went into the job by manually browsing the items; If there a way to run some sort of api/script to get this information on an excel sheet.  Idea is to automate this check; rather than having to check 10 different jobs and see what files are in the tape via browse option; I want to run an api to get the list of files that were in the tape job
