Hello,On one of my sites, when I try to browse the vCenter, it takes a very long time before I can see the list of VMs.Also on a client, when I browse the folder hierarchy. Any ideas ? Thanks  !!!

Hello all,I’m stuck since a few days, I’m trying to setup O365 backup with only the Command Center for demo purpose with the FR25, and even though I’m following the related doc (https://documentation.commvault.com/11.25/essential/130384_create_office_365_plan_for_exchange_online.html) I never get the option to add an O365 plan in the menu as described.I pass and repass the requirement, but I’m stuck Could you give me some hints ? Thx  

Hi guys, The Customer is trying to get an access to DR Backup SET folder (Commvault Cloud).https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp20/article?p=131053.htm However, after log in to the cloud.commvault.com he cannot see the CommCell Dashboard section. I asked Pragya to set the Customer’s account as a Parent Account Owner, but the CommCell Dashboard section isstill not visible for his account.   Is anything else that we can do to unblock the CommCell Dashboard section for the the Customer’s account? Rgds,Kamil

Hello FellasIn context of SuperMicro Hardware, the HyperrScale X 2300 has considerably high expansion capacity than other manufacturers but down side is Hardware performance issue, i have encountered multiple nod’s failure due to OS Drive disappearing from board / BIOS.if anyone else experiencing anything similar or any other issue

Hello -We just moved a Commserve to a new Virtual machine using the CSRecoveryAssistant.  I am switching my customer over to the command center as we are refreshing media agents and storage.  When going to the dashboard, all I get are “oops something went wrong” multiple times.  I assume it is pulling info for the various tiles and can’t.  Is this a SQL issue of some sort?  What can I do to troubleshoot this?  Also, we are unable to see existing SQL clients in the Command Center.  That may be normal but I wasn’t sure.Thanks!

Hey all - I am working with a customer and we have the command line backup for a SQL instance working just fine using an xml file.  What we can’t figure out is how do we do just 1 database on the instance?  We see the api call in command center but it doesn’t translate to the xml.  Anyone have the magic command?  We tried adding <databaseName>xxxx</databaseName> right under instance in the xml. Attached a sample of the xml.

I have one-drive and exchange online backing up to a MA in Azure with blob storage, this all works fine - but I want a 2nd on-prem aux copy. I’m happy with with the network costs, traffic and on-prem disk capacity. The storage plan uses Cool in the blob, when the aux copy runs, it stop/starts with recalls for each chunk. Idea 1 - Ideally the aux copy should trigger a workflow like the restore job to recall the chunks all in 1 go, can this be enabled or something in the dev pipeline? Idea 2 - create a new extra ‘Primary’ with hot storage and 7 days retention, copy this to the existing 6 months Primary (cold) and copy to the on-prem MA Idea 3 - change the plan to hot, but I would prefer to manage costs Idea 4 - ? Cheers 

Hello,during DR backups or “Send Log Files” from Commserve,  very old ( > 2 years) files are collected and sent to DR locations and cloud. There is for example a 50GB InstallMongoDB.log file from 4/2020 in AllUsersProfile_1636362050 directory. These logs then increase the DR backups significantly. I tried to find somewhere these logs, but I cannot find them.Could please anyone advise, how to prevent sending of these old log files ?Thank youJiri.

Hi all, Trying to perform a Application Aware backup of a virtual server that is running a SQL instance. Already installed the commvault agent with the following options:FileSystem FileSystem Core SQL Serverwhen running a VM level backup with the option Application Aware selected, the job shows the following message: No applications were found that are eligible for Application Aware backup.Treating this as a success. Can anyone help sort this out? thanks   

Hello,we are currently running at over 80% of our volume license. I would have the question to the value, whether also Aux Copys are counted in the volume ? So if the data is backed up to HDD and then another copy is made to S3.with kind regardsThomas

hi, i was working with an end customer on archiving for linux.we have established they are not able to replace Files with stubs as there as is not supported on rhel 7.9.so we are trying to delete the files ones archived. but the we are noticing that for NFS and CIFS you would have to use a Pseudo client for this to be able to archive.now it is a share But formatted to GPFS so i does not state this needs to have Pseudo client for this.are we able to archive on GPFS formatted share?do we need to do it via a Pseudo client like cifs or NFS?is there a specific document for this? could you also clarify why stubbing is not possible RHEL 7.9, as it is the only one missing?https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/3241_unix_and_macintosh_archiving_system_requirements.html (it is not stated here.) thank you in advance! Thos Gieskes.

Hello family, please i have request from a client asking us to take backup of their avaya server with recorded Now the question is, can it work?Because of space constraints, they want to delete some recorded files after we have taken up.My fear is does commvault has the capacity to ensure the restore will work? That is when we do restore. 

The server admins are considering bitlocking VM machines and maximizing security. My assumption is the best way is a regular VMware backup without an agent being installed.If they ever wanted to do a restore, then restore to whole guest and leave to the server admins to copy from the restored guest back to the source. The boxes are medium to small sized Ques: At restore time is CV capable of creating a browsable contents of a bitlocked VM guest?Storage is disk, will doing live recovery contents generation 

HiWe are running Hyperscale X v.11.24.16All live data is on hitachi storage. What is the best practice/fastest restore solution to restore a 20TB SQL database, from from a production environment to a test environment.Both servers are VMware in seperate Vcenters. Today we run agent based backup (full, differential and transactionlog) and every 2 weeks, we need to copy the database to the test server.  The solution we use at the moment, is scheduled out of place agent based restore to the test server. Is there a better/faster way to get the database copied? Br. Question:Within device manager on Windows MA I can see under storage controllers that “CommVault Virtual Disk Controller” is disabled. I have 4 physical MA’s and all are showing the same. Is this considered normal? I do have issues sometimes with 1 MA and Intellisnap backups and wondering if this device should be enabled. ThanksVersion 11.22.27

In customer environment there is a network separation in place. There are 3 VLANs1) VLAN1 - vcenter / esxi host management2) VLAN2 - MediaAgent / backup network3) VLAN3 - NFS storage networkESXi hosts are configured in VLAN1 (management network) and VLAN3 (NFS storage network)MediaAgent is configured in VLAN2 and VLAN3 (NFS transport mode)This works great for backups and restores, but since VLAN3 is not routed a LiveMount feature does not work - an ESXi host can't mount NFS from MediaAgent. AFAIK that is because since VLAN3 is the storage network, ESXi host will try to mount NFS using that network. Unfortunately it cannot reach main MediaAgent NIC in VLAN2 (that is a network interface that MA hostname is resolved to). Switching to MA NIC in VLAN3 is also not the answer since it is not routed and can't reach ESXi host management in VLAN1. Since it is a Commvault ↔ VMware traffic DIPs also cannot be used.A solution could be if there is a way to tell Commvault software which MA IP address

Hi,I restored the Commserver DR backup to another server. This is the first time I’m doing this so after restore I noticed that the configured disk and tape library in the destination server has changed reflecting the disk and tape library from the original server. I tried to add the destination server as another media agent but it is not allowing. How do i proceed to use the tape and disk library in the destination server after the restore?Please advise.  

Hello So I am trying to access the api explorer.I have tried clicking the link in the command center however all I get is a certificate error and a white screen.I can however access the sandbox just fine.Any ideas as to what the issue may be? And could this be why I am unable to get a authentication token from the api?When running the python script for authentication it returns with login failed.I am master and system admin so there should not be any permissions missing regarding my user. Hopefully someone has any ideasThanks.

HelloI have a Windows 2008R2 VM files servers of 18TB that I backup by VM only with a name XXI will change the server by another VM windows 2019 with a name XY that I will copy the files (18 TB)When the copie is done I will close VM - XX and rename VM XY in XX.How the deduplication will handel the copied data in the back end ? I have 14TB off free space.What is the best way to backup a large VM like that. Continue by VM backup or switch to File system backup with CV Agent ?Thanks in advanceSL

Hi, we are using OnePass for Filesystem and Content Indexing the archived data. For that we have one CI Server in a CI Cloud. Now we want to Upgrade the OS of the Server in-place. is this possible or do I have to create a new Index server and content indexing all jobs again? 

My company has been doing things entirely wrong with Commvault, and it has led to a situation where data was not recoverable. When an employee leaves and returns a laptop, that laptop will be re-imaged and re-issued to a different/new employee. The previous admin would change the host name for the client, adding --old, so that it no longer matched, disabled Data Aging for the client, then released the license and make the computer inactive. They would then push the software back out to the re-imaged laptop as a new client. This worked in older versions of CV, apparently, but it was violating license usage, and now it doesn’t work at all. Are legal holds the only way to maintain the data from a client that will be re-imaged and re-issued, or is there a process for this I can’t find in the CV documentation?
