Hi, When using the CV Failover setting sCSINTERFACELIST which contains a list of the primary and standby CS hostnames in the Commcell, is it no longer necessary to use proxies for all clients to connect to the active Commserve in a CV Failover and LiveSync setup? Can I set up the LiveSync without the Network Topology to use these proxies and just trust this additional setting to make the client connect to the active CS? Are there any pros and cons? /Patrik

I'm having some issues with Retention cycles not adhering to the rules we give them. Are normal cycles are inc/diff are 7 days 1 Cycle, Weekly Full 28 days 1 cycle and Monthly Full for 1095+ 1 cycle. The daily retention we have no problems with , but its the weekly and monthly full’s that are not working correctly. The weekly full’s would keep the retention of a monthly full and the monthly full would keep the retention of a weekly full. I don't know if the “For Weekly Full Rule the Week Starts on” or the “For Monthly Full Rule the Month starts on “ is causing the issue, or if the “For all rules keep the:” is causing the problem.I don't know what these three rules technically do so i need help understanding these three to understand if i have them set incorrectly for the rules i am trying to set. “For Weekly Full Rule the Week Starts on”“For Monthly Full Rule the Month starts on ““For all rules keep the:”  

So I am out of the womb new to Microsoft Azure. Our company is wanting to add Azure into our environment, and tried setting up some vm’s with azure which sadly I'm awaiting for my systems team to help me with. I poked them again to get the project started, however, he was talking about they are looking into Microsoft Azure DNS, and Azure SQL, and was wondering if Commvault handles backups for these two products for Azure? I straight up don't know the answer fully and tried googling, but just got more confused. If any of you guys know if these are straight forward something Commvault handles, or if “SQL” and “DNS” is to vague of a description. Let me know and point out some articles that i can take back to them for further collaboration. 

Hello, we have received a notice from our security department that we need to update the Tomcat on the servers for Commvault. Has anyone here already done such an update ? I think an update of the Tomcat would also mean a downtime for the affected system. I would like to inform myself in advance here about the procedure before I run into an error that could mean the failure of the backup service.RegardsThomas

In order to remove excess storage policies, I was wondering if incremental storage policies can be shared across multiple storage policies? We use the incremental storage policies for our daily backups which has a short retention cycle of 7 days 1 cycle. 

Hi everyone,i`ve been using intellisnap with netapp for a long time now at customers but always with the oncommand unified manager.been trying to test a bit with the netapp open replication now to get rid of the OCUM.so the setup is….2 netapp simulators, one cifs volume at the source, relationship set up.snapshot and vault to one destination volume works.snapshot and mirror to another destination volume (from same source) works.but i am getting errors, when it comes to set up one source volume to one destination volume using BOTH - vault and mirror type. this was working before with ocum - istn it supported with the open replication anymore?thank you in advance,Sebastian  

We are starting a new project with everything in AWS and planning to use commvault as our backup system via AWS.   So Im still a novice with commvault and Im wondering when deploying the commvault image to an instance is it like everything wrapped up in one instance.?  Such as the commserve, media agent etc…Or do I need to deploy various instances for each.?  Do I need a server for commservr and another one for media agent etc…?

Currently with the API at the moment if I want to find the registered clients with ‘SQL Server’, I need to iterate through the GET /Clients/ collection one by one for each clientproperties → client → idaList → idaEntity → appName.Is there a more efficient way? The GET /Agents/ command suite is not suitable in this instance because it requires passing the clientId.

Hi.I am new to commvault and i deployed cloud control (all in one) in Azure. After initial settings, when i navigate to protect section, i couldn't find application section at all. In the guided setup page, i could see cloudapps with tick enabled, but when i click it. Its not navigating me to cloudapps section. Is this a bug or am i missing anything here?Cloud control version : 11.22.0

HiI try to restore folder from Synthetic full backup which was successfully completed. When you try to brows message shows  Red circle with cross “The Index cannot be accessed. Try again later. If the issue persists, contact support” using V11.20.36 recently updated.Any idea/ solution appreciate.

Yes the thread has been super helpful for me.  Cant thank eveyone enough for everyone sharing the commvault knowledge. This question - Im not sure if its a AWS question or commvault.   We wanted to add a AWS S3 bucket as our Storage Cloud library.  In doing so we kept on getting “access denied”  when attempting to add the aws s3.  The way we were finally able to add our S3 bucket to our commvault commserve environment as a cloud library was to DISABLE the AWS S3 bucket encryption option.  We used the AWS IAM ROLE Policy to add the S3 bucket.   Does anyone know why we cant have the encryption on the AWS s3 bucket enabled.  I feel like we should have the encytpion enabled but of course it didnt work when adding the S3. Thanks again  -  BC

Hello,customer changed IP adresses of some ESXi hosts. Now the software claims that 14 of 12 socket licneses are used. Looking in the license summary report we can see three hosts with the old and the new IP address. Is there a way to clean this up? Or do we need to wait for a full backup for each and every VM?RegardsMario

I was looking at the data size by client on a MA via Commvault console; saw somthing wired that file system backups were consuming few TBs of data although the customer’s file sytem was pretty small. Investigated further and it appears that none of the DDB backups are not pruned or removed since the Mediaagent was deployed last year, so all this TB of data on the MA belongs to DDB backups.  Could not see any reason why that should be the case; there is only one active DDB for that MA

Recently after updating from SP18 to FR21 , noticed that the Synthetic backup schedules (which were set for Weekly once for VM machines) automatically changed from weekly to Monthly once. Because of this we are facing issue in increased number of backups and thus storage full.On Command center we do not see any option to change the schedules. I have gone though the Documents but unable to find any option to update/change the Synthetic full backup schedule. Any help here?Could this be change in schedule only be done from Commcell console (GUI)?

Penetration testing has come up with the recommendation to remove the internal hostname of the Commserve node from the meta data of the Command Centre web site. Viewing the source of the page there is the cvApp={} definition (~5000 characters) and within that, the definition:"CommcellConsoleUrl":"http://node01.domain:81/console" Where node01.domain is the internal FQDN of the active CS server. Is there a way of suppressing this string? There is no similar reference when using the WebConsole.We have a separate proxy server sat in DMZ that external users connect to (MSP environment) that hosts the web console with the web server on the Commserve.

Hello Everyone, Newbie alert.Please correct me if I understand this right. Subclients enabled with Intellisnap backups using NetApp array integration will go like this - A job will be triggered and a VMware and NetApp snapshot will be taken and the snap backup job will finish. Then the backup copy operation will trigger which will mount the datastore to the proxy VM through the proxy ESXI (we have NFS datastores and our proxies are running as VMs). The VMDKs will be copied to the library through this operation and it will finish. Now we have installed a new NetApp array and the team is continuously relocating the VMs to the new datastores round the clock. Now our snapbackups are completing but when we are triggering the backup copy operation, that is failing with “Unknown VMInfo error ”. After marking the Job as do not copy and running the snap backup again, we are able to successfully complete the backup copy.  What would be the best
